  • I guess he is still a little mad about McGloin stealing his lunch money and giving him a shiner after practice.

  • If not PSU, then I'm glad he's going to Wisconsin so we can beat his a**!

When D. O'Brien realized he wasn't going to be able to live up to the O'Brien name he decided he wanted to go play for a caveman in Bielema

  • Hopefully Wisconsin gets the 2011 Danny O'Brien, not the 2010 version.

    I hate Bieliema.

Look, I was never drooling over this kid like many others from the start. I was hoping he came here just the same. But this column is laughable. Let's see, we're to believe that he sees more success for himself with an OC who didn't have that job a year ago over the OC and play caller for a Super Bowl team last year. Or that the UW offense fits him better, even though BOB coached for Friedgen (who is cited as a reason) in the past. Not that I would expect anyone to admit it from his camp, but this has all to do with the complete lack of competition that UW could offer. Let's at least be honest kid.

My hope is we get after him with pressure on the field this year, something tells me his mindset might be to fold up the tent.

Makes sense to me. He gets a guaranteed starter job at Wiscy. He has to compete at PSU with three other guys.

Right, trying to beat out McGloin and Bolden and a kid who can't stay eligible is real tough. He'd be the starter if he chose here and everybody knows it.

Wisky made the most sense. They have a known coach and system that just had a lot of success with a transfer QB. We have an unknown HC and system with no record of a transfer QB.

  • I personally believe that DOB would have immediately been the best QB on this roster and very likely would have won the job outright. I've been about as critical of MM and RB as the next guy but I think there is still an interesting dynamic to getting to see them perform under the tutelage of a new coach. What I'm really excited for, however, is the chance to see PJ get a legitimate shot this year. I truly believe he has the most natural talent of the three and we all remember that BW game a few years ago when he lit it up. IMO this just takes us back to where we figured we'd be this upcoming season. Would have been great to get DOB but sometimes you gotta dance with the one that brought ya.

  • With stuff like this I really wonder if its Sandusky left overs. When I compare each teams O and the coaches the favor is for sure in PSUs. The only other thing is if BB flat out promised him the job and BOB wouldn't.

Who knows, disapointing but oh well. Let's hope real coaching helps the guys out we already have.

I can't wait for the "this would have never happened when JoePa was coach" or "Big Red would have sealed the deal" post.

    So much for BOB's honeymoon.

Joe would have never even entertained the idea of having a transfer because it wouldn't have been fair to sub-par players that have "payed their dues".

That would be the first fight McGloin won in his life.

The last time he opened his mouth he wound up with a concussion.

If this were the case and he was holding BOB hostage for the guarantee then honestly I'd rather not have him here. BOB has been preaching competition and how every job is up for grabs. If DOB doesn't have enough confidence in his own ability to come in and beat out what we know to be a very beatable group at the QB position then I'd rather we not compromise our ethics for that. It would be doing a MAJOR disservice to the rest of the roster.

Well there goes a shot at winning the division.

That's where you are wrong. Bolden will start each game and throw each pass off the ref's heel, screwing the defense rhythm, and McMoxie is going to come in and rescue the team from the jaw of defeat and proclaims himself emporer of Penn State. We going 13-0 baby

WE ARE! And we will always be...

  • Here is how I see it played out:

    1. DOB comes to PSU with his mother, they both love it. Coach OB tells him he cant guarantee him, but he will have a fair shot at the open -QB competition and he will prob. not name a starter until the day before the Ohio game.
    2. He visits Ole Miss for fun with his OT.
    3. His visits Wisky with an open mind and loves it there also. He sees 2 red shirts at practice. Bielema tells him he is the starter the day he comes on campus as a Badger.
    4. He visits PSU on the way back home to check out the QB competition. Sees 6 red shirts out on the field and OB reiterates he'd love to have him, but no guarantees.
    5. He eventually decides Wisky gives him the best opportunity to start for 2 seasons.

  • Well, isn't this just a giant kick in the testicles?

The thought of actually having a competent quarterback at Penn State turned out to be just too good to be true. Back to suffering through more of the same heaping pile of dung we've grown accustomed to watching in the blue and white.

This hurts the program badly because we're now destined for a really crappy season (just imagine if Silas Redd were to get hurt) which will impact BOB's ability to sell the program. It's one thing to have a few high school kids trying to garner interest from other high-level recruits to check out the program, but when we flail around on Saturdays this fall, it's going to be really tough to convert any of that potential interest into an actual commitment.
