  • He should get his degree and then worry about the NFL. With his degree and being a PSU football letterman, he will have plenty of great opportunities to take care of himself and his family.

You find out life's this game of inches, so is football. Because in either game, life or football-the margin for error is so small. -Pacino

Without the shitty pic I would have given you an upvote.

Its a youtube series. Hilarious... Called "Cmon son"... Where the ESPN "Cmon man" comes from... I think he should sue. He came up with it first and its funny as hell

  • Dukes' HS coach says "He thought if he showed [PSU] loyalty, he would get the same thing"... and "Maybe there are some difficulties for him understanding some of the schemes but, even with that, he could have a package set where he gets some time." See http://espn.go.com/blog/colleges/psu/post?id=2218

So let me get this straight, an elite coaching staff is supposed to reward players who stay regardless of whether they learn the schemes or protect the football. Total nonsense.

PSU may be sanctioned, but it's not a charity football team.

  • This is a situation where the transfer rule can help Penn State get under the 65 limit. He probably won't ever see real playing time at Penn State.

Penn State will have 3 good rb's returning next year. Two of them with lots of experience.

Agreed. Best thing for the school and Dukes is he gets his degree and transfers. There is a reason he isn't on the field.

  • So ... Will he be transferring to Baylor or Marshall for next year?

He's not good enough to play at Baylor, no offense to Dukes.

Their offensive personnel are very good.

  • The NFL suspended the necessity for the RB to recognize the blitz and block the correct blitzer? I wish him the best if luck in hs future endeavors.

  • Dukes also gave an interview to NittanyNation (ESPN's PSU site). I think the kid and his HS coach are wildly unrealistic. As others have said, a walkon, a converted WR and two fullbacks have passed him on the depth chart. The NFL???? no

So he expected the coaches to give him his own package where he gets the ball? In what freaking world of football does that make sense?

Opposing DC's would see him come in the game, know he's getting the ball, and key on him. It does nothing to help the team.

Based on his coach's comments, the kid clearly doesn't get it. Learn the damn playbook and how to pass block and you'll play! It's as simple as that!

Whining about "showing loyalty" and complaining about playing time doesnt' help him for the team. Selfish players are not what this program needs now or going forward.

  • Would like to see him stay. He is a good special teams contributor. Dukes can't compete with ZZ. We haven't even talked about ZZ's impact in the passing game. He actually split out and caught passes against NW.

Dukes needs to mature, graduate, and then possibly he can try and latch on to an NFL opportunity as a Tim Shaw style of special teamer.

  • NFL scouts love it when players bitch about playing time to the press.

  • I don't think he truly means going to the NFL. I think it was his way of saying he isn't happy with playing time and it was a hint to other coaches that he is interested in transferring after the season. He isn't going to come out and say it during this season that he will transfer for next year. Unfortunately he didn't pan out at PSU as a RB. Good luck next year wherever you go. Helps both PSU and Dukes. Win win in my book. No need to bash the kid. Part ways and we are all happy.

I agree with this. I think he is advertising his free agency. He's not going to play here. He tried to leave this offseason and despite what he told people about coming back... He didn't have a great opportunity to leave. Just think it's a cheesy way to go about it. Good Luck.

Why do all of you guys take a straight statement and try to twist it to defend the kid. If he thinks he should be playing he thinks he is nfl material. He just has not figured out yet that he is not the brightest light in the chandelier and that he will not be successful in any major program or the nfl because of it.

I disagree completely. He does not have to advertise anything. He really is a free agent he can contact schools directly. This kid is showing the mental capacity that causes him not to be able to pick up the play book.

What do you want him say: "I can't wait until this season is over so I can transfer to another school."? Think about it. He is going to be in that locker room for the balance of the season. He may not be smart but I don't think he's an idiot either.

    PennSt8lifer

  • lol it would be one thing if he wasn't seen all over campus at frat and apartment parties, its his own fault for not getting playing time, stay home and learn the playbook instead of getting black out drunk

Do you think it will be any better saying what he is saying. His TEAMATES know his issues. This kid thinks he is better then he is. And is to smart enough to realize his lack of play book knowledge will hurt him no matter where he goes. If he wanted to just transfer he would say nothing and have his coach reach out to other schools.

The smart thing to say is nothing.
