  • Agreed. I care about pertinent updates but obsessing over it is draining. If I want to read about this crap and get more pissed off I'll head over to the Pitt board.

Cheers to most of our threads reading "barnwell, boyd, Williams, vanderdoes, and anzalone commit PSU"

  • Probably a good idea to find out what happened and why to make sure it never happens again...but hey, thats just me (and every single american without ties to penn state)

We aren't saying ignore it or minimize the importance of these events. It's like waiting for the results of a test, when the results come out you will deal with it...but until then don't go crazy about something you can't control.

We care...a lot, just don't want to make it harder than it already is by obsessing.

Please. This will happen again, not at Penn State, but somewhere. But thanks for speaking for every American w/o ties to Penn State.

SO tired of rehashing this topic every few days. I guess what I'm saying is personally I'm done talking about it. At this point absolutely nothing is going to come out and show they did the right thing here, so I'm done giving it attention. There's no point to us all nit-picking with each other about who may or may not have said what to whom. We know we were let down/lied to by people in power and JS should have been locked up a long time ago. IMO we are all wasting our time thinking/worrying/discussing it. We all feel horrible about what happened to those kids, but unfortunately nothing is going to change that. At this point imo we need to focus on the future of Penn State.

    Absolutely correct, Itz.

The various bits and pieces "leaked" from time to time give us nothing that clarifies anything.

This is a very personal thing for each of us. No one who loves PSU will ever feel whole again. I know that I will not.

    For the Glory!

Me talking about the subject is going to uncover why it happened? Thats about the most unintelligent thing I've read in a while.

  • I had a christian upbringing. Last night I felt something that bothered me. I started questioning this whole investigation about Joe falling from grace, by making a huge mistake. If that is the case I will always remember what he did. I will still look up to the man, that is my conclusion. Christ would have forgiven Joe, and I will do the same. He was human. If I was in his situation I can't truly say that I wouldn't have done the same thing. That sounds really bad. I know people say what kind of person wouldn't report Sandusky? The answer is simple, someone who is human. I can say all I want that I would report Sandusky, but I don't know if I truly would have. So much would be going through my head. Joe (like I) loved this university and I think he made the mistake in trying to protect it.

Unless you are not human then you can't truly say that you wouldn't have done what Joe did. We can't truly see into the mind of Joe. We can't see the thoughts/emotions that were running through his head. This was a stressful situation, no doubt about that.

Sweeping it under the rug has worked so well for you guys so far! The only way you will be able to move on is to OWN what happened and yet that still seems impossible for some. Remember that when these victims sue the school into oblivion.

It's not possible to focus on the future of Penn State if our future is uncertain.

This IS happening in other places NOW! There is no excuse for what happened at our school.

Other organizations should use this as a wake up call to look at themselves.

We have all seen the statistics: Somewhere around 5 - 20% of Boys and 10-30% of Girls are sexually abused before the age of 16.

That frequency cannot happen without alot of people covering up for oneanother.

    - Boy Scouts,
    - US Olympics
    - Syracuse
    - MLB / Boston Red Sox
    - Religious organizations
    - AAU Basketball
    - US Congress

Me as well, I'm going crazy obsessing over every little vague detail that the media releases trying to make a story out of it. I know I can't control what other people post but can we atleast create one central post where people can go and talk about it and the rest of us don't have to see a new post every time some tiny piece of info comes out?

While everything has to be taken in context, I disagree wholeheartedly with this. This is a completely different situation than what McQueary faced, in which action is required immediately and there is a question of bodily harm. These four guys had time and information, however limited at the time, to make an assessment and act. As far as I can tell, there were only three reasons to not report it. 1. They thought they could handle it themselves and stop Sandusky. 2. They were trying to "protect" the University. 3. They were trying to protect themselves and their interests.

Since they knew about Sandusky's history and since Spanier is an EXPERT in this field of study, #1 doesn't make sense. Since reporting him to the authorities and getting him off the street would have been the best course of action to protect the University both at that time and now, in retrospect, #2 doesn't make sense. So...

I would hope you would have acted differently. That would be the most Christian (and human) thing to do.

Edit: I agree with the OP.

Edit 2: BrotherAbstract is an idiot.
