Cox cuts it to 10

Jeannette (Pa.) four-star safety Demetrious Cox narrowed his list to 10 schools on Saturday. The 6-foot-1, 187-pound prospect holds nearly 20 scholarship offers.

  • Luckily, I don't think he is mentored by Ted Sarniak.

I like our chances, but his strong words for MSU concern me.

  • What is the point of cutting it to ten? This seems a bit ridiculous to me. I don't believe all ten schools have a legitimate chance at getting him. The kid is free to do what he wants...but I just think that is a bit odd...JMO. Seems like it is really us and MSU and maybe a wild card here and there.

After speaking with Cox last weekend following his visit to Michigan State, the reason Cox is so high on the Spartans is the way they plan on using him on both sides of the ball.

Michigan State told Cox that he can play either cornerback or safety on defense. Then on offense they can use him at quarterback in the 'wild cat' formation. Also, the MSU coaches said he could get some looks at wide receiver as well.

I see Michigan State being in the running for Cox all the way up to him making his decision. The Spartans sit very high on Cox's list as of now.

^This is why I put the chances of Cox committing tomorrow at 2%.

Ah, the "blowing hot air at a recruit" strategy... I highly doubt MSU would have him on the field that much... A desperate ploy that appears to be working... I hope Cox doesn't fall for the Okie Doke...

What about punting, holding for kicks, unpaid assistant coach for defense, associate VP of the alumni association, and Sorority Dorm inspector?panic

  • Yeah, your're right, bad flame attempt. We had a great time on the road trip, surprised so many students still didn't get back to the game after Thanksgiving, made it a little easier to deal with the home crowd. Good luck in the Leaders Div. I still can see the Kerry Collins to Bobby Ingram play in one of those games at SS.

Right.................your dealing with 17 year olds. They don't do "history" well. Who is "hot" now is important!

To be clear, 32 wins for your graduating class as a record for you is a disappointment for us.

Enjoy that worthless trophy. Maybe some of your players will use it as a weapon before your next bowl game.

    Agreed 150%

If Cox thinks he's gonna run in the Wildcat, he'd also fall for a sales pitch to buy an oceanfront condo in Kansas.

+1. The worst part is he only has "nearly" 20 offers. So more than half of his offers are still in play. It would be more understandable if he was trimming a huge list down to 10.

Feels like you can take him seriously ... Because his actions would indicate he is down to two.

If winning was easy even losers would do it.

You mean "blowing hot air at a recruit" strategy like telling Fuller he will be given the chance to compete at QB? like blowing that hot air?
