And he didn't buy into the Meyer hype so good on him.

Yes, this 100%. I know what you mean. It was a decent blow to MSU when Se'Veon Pittman switched back to OSU as soon as Meyer showed up there and snapped his fingers. That really ticked me off, but in the end, kids will be kids. It still sucks when you get played like that though.

Who. I dont want a reach. Just move Kenney to CB, Amos to Safety.

You still don't have enough bodies. Kenney isn't a competent CB whatsoever. Amos is likely a starter next year at CB. We need another safety. Don't know if we'll land someone, but I guarantee that we're going to try.

I have to say so far BOB and crew havent blown me away.

Lost Oconner, Schutt, Williams and Reeves to OSU. He said his main goal was to keep current verbals. Well he didnt keep the big ones.

Now losing a stud in cox to MSU..

The Pa. kids dont seem to care at all about PSU anymore..there isnt that home state pride like you see towards OSU with Ohio kids..what is the issue here?

O' Connor and Schutt were long gone by the time he was hired. That is not on BOB, blame Joyner if anyone

  • I think some people on this board need to start giving more credence to things reported in the "mainstream" media. First there were reports that BOB would be the coach at PSU and people were saying there was no way that happened. Then the PPG reported that Cox was going to MSU and people were like "they're just guessing they have no clue." I'm not saying that they're right all the time but as soon as something is reported on ESPN that people don't like they automatically disregard it b/c there's no way they could know but they wanna believe some unknown person on twitter like sekrah b/c he says things they wanna hear.

Need for another thread on Cox considering there are two others?

Did PSU blow it, or did someone plant PSU was going to get nailed by the NCAA with sanctions and he bought it? I will say PSU lost him because others negatively recruited him. Not saying MSU did it, but others planted that in his head.

I think MSU has too much class to stoop to that level. I heard hoke and meyer did with several recruits. Why did we ask for an extension with that simple questionnaire emmert sent us? Seems to me like we have to get this ncaa crap behind us as fast as possible. Christ, my 7 year old could have filled that out. As unfounded as it will be, it still is a cloud over us. Recruits don't care about sandusky, but potential ncaa sanctions are scaring them away and allowing the competitors to outrecruit us. The longer this goes on the worse next year's recruiting class will be. meyer, hoke, pitt, wisky will all use this to their advantages.

Let's see the mainstream media reported Cristobal to Rutgers this morning. How did that work out?

PSU blew this one, imo. Someone may have planted the NCAA sanction card in Cox's head, but it is our staff's job to come up with a counter narrative. Whatever they are saying, they need to go back to the drawing board.

We are not even being investigated. It is just some paper inquiry.

I already said they're not gonna be right 100% of the time. I'm just saying when something gets reported some people just automatically say it's not true b/c there's no way ESPN would know before I see it reported on a message board/twitter. These guys are professionals also.

PSU was "lazy" for a long time now and lived off of 2-3 recruiters and Joe's name. Now Joe's name is gone and the PSU brand is tarnished. This staff HAS to win and win quite a bit next year and they need to out hustle every staff around as PSU is second fiddle and will be until they climb back up the mountain. Bottom line is this staff has a lot to deliver next year...on and off the field.

I would agree with this. I don't think that people realized how much of an asset Paterno still was as a recruiter... even though he was not as active as people wanted. His name is legend... and with that we got a few 4 star kids every year from the legend.

Bill O'Brien has very little name recognition. Hopefully this Super Bowl helps and he can call some kids from the locker room after they win ( I am assuming that they will). I saw a tweet this morning from some blogger that was retweeted by some well known sports journalists basically mocking PSU because Rutgers in a couple of days hired a better coach (this was when Mario Cristobal was rumored to have taken the job) than PSU did in 3 months.

This is the sentiment that we are dealing with until O'Brien proves something. We need wins and a better brand of football than we have put out on the field to build excitement with recruits. Very doubtful that you will see a bunch of big time recruits jump aboard early. O'Brien has to prove his worth on the field.

But you can see why people question these professionals. They were VERY professional about Paterno! Sure, right....

UMMMM ... O'Connor, Schutt were gone before BOB was hired genius. Same could be said about Williams and Reeves. BOB as had much chance to keep them in the fold as I do becoming the President of the Maldives. Brent Williams kept those two away from the new staff.

Cox bought into the notion of PSU getting hammered by the NCAA. I think we all have our educated guesses who threw that at him. Even though he didn't get him, it turned Cox away from PSU.

Please, your next post - put something with thought together instead of absolute rubbish.

    Rubbish?

Typical foolish answer really. Our staff has come head to head with some other top programs and lost a lot.

Breneman going to be visiting ND for a 3rd time on his own dime in February..with OSU chasing. You really like PSU to beat those teams out? Hasnt happened in ages.

I'm talking about guys like Schefter, Mortensen, and guys that deal w/ actual rumors. I'm not trying to defend the wat ESPN handled the Paterno situation.

  • Maybe this NCAA seed planting thing makes us all feel better or allows for a scapegoat, but Cox has been to MSU 4 times in a year

For a Junior Day, two unofficial visits, and an official visit. Actions speak louder than words, right,

PSU is practically in his backyard and he made only two trips. I just doubt this NCAA violations thing tipped the scales to MSU

If winning was easy even losers would do it.

Agreed. We got kids in campus just because they wanted to meet a legend. We also got kids who in the end wanted to say they played for him.

Its very easy to recruit against Penn St right now. This coaching staff didn't do much on the recruiting trail to inspire confidence but they probably deserve a pass for now. IMO hopefully they can get the early Penn St leans to pull the trigger early so they can help recruit. Hang in some top 5s and then win next year and we will do fine. We almost need to sell kids on wait to commit until you get to see us on the field. I just don't think we will win a lot of battles between now and August. Sure hope the new staff proves me wrong though.

Too bad..we lost a lot of good prospects in our own backyard this year. That's the last bad news for a while now guys!! Now we can look forward to the Blue/White game and exciting changes within our program.

This really isnt any different than any other year. We seem to always lose out on the top PA talent. Im not saying we lose out on all the top talent but it sure seems like we miss out on a lot.

We miss out on all the top Pa guys..it isnt hip unfortunately to choose PSU..i dont know how or where this went off course.

Seems like OSU never has to worry about losing a stud Ohio kid to psu in fact last one i think they even wanted was Zordich.
