Corbett saying PSU punishment is

  • harsh and unjustified . Must need votes ,he should have said that a long time ago !

Of course it's about the votes to him. He was on the BOT and I have yet to hear him ask why Peetz and Erickson went along with this punishment. He is talking out of both sides of his mouth. He helped create this frenzy and did nothing to help squash it or at least guide it down a decent path. Now he needs some votes and will cry foul? Anyone buying his load of crap is pretty naive IMO. If you have a problem with the NCAA, he surely should have a problem with those who signed off on it.

  • Here we see a drowning man trying to gasp his last breaths through a straw. Your political career is over Tom, it's too late to even get 40% of the vote next time. If we had any journalist out there who really wanted to earn a Pulitzer, he'd likely be fighting to just finish his term. But it's easier to get that Pulitzer by being fed information to help destroy your own alma mater. Right Sara?

    Right Sara?

    lol

Journalists have an ethical responsibility to report the truth, it doesn't matter if its about their alma mater or not.

People upset with Sara for reporting what she did should take a few steps back and reevaluate the whole situation. The group of people they should be angry with doesn't include Sara.

  • Too late, Corbett. Where were you defending the University when we needed you?

    See ya.

    bonovoxpsu

  • Here is full statement from July 23rd. My how things have changed.

“The appalling actions of a few people have brought us once again into the national spotlight. We have taken a monster off the streets and while we will never be able to repair the injury done to these children, we must repair the damage to this university.

“Part of that corrective process is to accept the serious penalties imposed today by the NCAA on Penn State University and its football program.

“However, as governor, I am grateful that the NCAA did not impose the ‘death penalty,’ which would have also had a severe detrimental impact on the citizens of State College, Centre County and the entire Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

“I also want assurance from Penn State that no taxpayer dollars will be used to pay the $60 million fine imposed on the university today.

“Penn State is more than football — it is a world-class university, providing an outstanding education to our young people in a variety of areas from scientific research and engineering, to the arts and humanities.

“I am confident that the university will move forward from this experience, complete the healing process and once again be worthy of its great reputation.”

    LBU59

  • You mean he finally realizes that damaging the reputation of a major university in the state you govern, putting in jeopardy the hundred of millions of dollars Penn State brings into the state every year, the hundred of billions of dollars in grant money, and the thousands of businesses that make a livelihood through Penn State and Penn State football was pretty damn stupid? Put the sick bastard behind bars and anybody else involved, yes, but it was stupid not to defend the university and at times encourage its punishment.

  • i just moved to PA and will be sure to be at the polls to vote this crooked POS out of office! i wish we could vote him off the BOT as well. What a sorry excuse of a man. upset

Do some research on her involvement in this. There is more than a little smoke around that she was fed her information from the Corbett/Board crowd. Her reporting was their initial way of framing the narrative of blame the football program/Joe and cover themselves. I would say Sara Ganim and the word ethics don't belong in the same post, let alone sentence.

  • Recommend engaging every one of your elected PA officials to support this legislation. Would love to see everyone affiliated with PSU tell Corbett that putting action behind his words concerning the NCAA is a litmus test issue for their vote. He won't ever rebalance the ledger in his favor but would like to see him try.

Was what she reported factually incorrect?

A lot of PSU people profited from Sandusky, but Sara did her job in reporting about the scandal and the credible information that she had.

Even if she was given the information by the board or Corbett, those were very credible sources at the time and would probably be considered credible today by another reporter.

How about digging a little bit to see if it was indeed credible? I would not consider it to be so based on all we've now learned. If you think Corbett or the Board are still credible today, then we obviously won't be agreeing on this particular topic. I can't say I'm really surprised by your stance, though. Penn State students today are with the establishment, not questioning it. Move on, One Team!

  • Can you imagine the dirt being dug up on Corbett while we speak regarding his role in the Sandusky investigation by his political opponents. It is going to be fun to watch the race for Gov. I will vote for anyone running against Corbett, even if Mickey Mouse is on the ballot.

Really, name the people who had personal gains in their career as a result of Jerry Sandusky being a predator?

Here I'll do it for you.

    1. Tom Corbett - he used Sandusky and his friends to win the seat of Governor instead of prosecuting them.

    2. Ganim - Used info from Corbett to "uncover" the story, and win a pulitzer and a job with CNN. The story wouldn't have needed "uncovering" if the aforementioned Corbett hadn't covered it up.

    3. Louis Freeh - no career gain just 6 million for his "company".

Mickey Mouse gets something like1% of the popular vote each presidential election, FWIW. He may be primed for a coming out election.
