Hey everyone, so I am currently taking HRIM 430 this semester. This means that my group I am in needs 100 people to come to this dinner or we don't get a very good grade. The students do all the recipes, cooking, hosting, cleaning, and decorating. My group is going to having our dinner on Thursday Oct. 25th. This is the weekend of the Ohio State Game. It is a Fine Dining Experience located on Park Ave in the Keller Building (Cafe Lara).I am asking those who will be around to please consider coming to this event (BYOB). It would be very appreciated if some of the alumni or students could come out and support us as we Manage our Restaurant night. I will attach the menu as well as the online reservation listing in the post below.
Our Group is Theme Is Speakeasy: Chicago Chophouse and I will say the Steak, Veal, and Chicken are all amazing, as well as the Baileys Cream Pudding

Sounds like an excellent menu, Roaring. Unfortunately I'm in Pittsburgh, and won't be in until Friday night.
Is this free, or what is the cost? I would think with this type of menu you shouldn't have a problem getting students to show up.
As a former HRIM grad, this is a great cause, great food and a great learning experience. I try to get back to as many as I can, unfortunately will not be in town that weekend.
Roaringlion, please contact me off board with details, time, cost, reservation deadline etc. I'm not up there but my son is and may I could send him and his gf.
"We want the warriors"
Roaring, can't make it from out here in corn country but good luck buddy. One of my best friends from HS is a pro chef and I have heard all the work that goes into that line of work.
That menu sounds amazing, and right up my alley tbh. Good luck brother. People, go check this out if you're in town!
Wish I could, but I will driving to or just arriving in Atlanta for my organization's national conference.
Thank You Everyone for your support, it really is appreciated. This is the only project for the entire course and by the end we will need a 200-300 page write up of the whole ordeal including food cost, and Purchase orders and the whole works, for those who have expressed interest i will respond publicly if it is something i have missed but more likely send you a private message to any questions that you may have.
This sounds wonderful, Roaring. Can you pm me details as I am interested?
I've forwarded your link to the misses. She's the "Chaf Boy'Ardee" in our house! Oct. 25th is our 26th wedding Anny. And we reside in Bellefonte. This could be a cool choice of an Anniversary evening out! I'll keep you posted.
October 12, 2013. PSU 43 - UM 40 (4 OT). Unfortunately this fan wasn't around long enough to see it!
Good luck man. Love the theme!
all of my classmates are very friendly and im sure we could do a special table for you two if you would like
Just made reservations for 2 @ 7:00 PM on the 25th. We'll be bringing our special BYOB 26th Wedding Anniversary wine! If you want to PM me for "something special" I think we can help boost your grade. How many Anniversary, and Alums you goin' to get for this project?
wow thanks man, i appreicate the reservation as well as trust you have in our ability to help give you a great overall experience
I remember taking this class as well. It is one of the toughest classes since you start at 1:30 and don't get done until around 11. All for 2 credits. It is a blast though, especially going to the bars afterwards! Good luck with the class and with the job search. I went the hotel way for 10 years. If you need help upon graduating and are interested in the hotel business let me know and I can point you to my old company. I got out of the hotel business a couple years ago, but still keep in touch with some people.
Is the ture Penn State culture and not the fantasy that Freeh conjured up!
A heartfelt: Cheers! to steviedpsu
thanks stevied, yeah they bumped it up to 3 credits but pushed on another thirty minutes 1:00. and yeah its great hitting up the bar after a long stressful day. im all set up on interface officially today (sets me up with all my interviews coming into state college) so i have my shoes all nice and shined and a couple suits to work with. thank you so much for the help with the job searching...seriously guys this is unbelievable how much support you all are giving to me just for being a (penn state) student, really makes me feel proud to know how much the fans and alumni support system works.
That's great. They didn't have that system when I was there. I graduated in 02. I went back a couple times to help my company recruit. It was great catching up with Bartlett and Mount. I need to get back there sometime to see all of the changes, it has been awhile since I have been in that part of campus. We used to go to Lions Den after our class for kaoroke night and close the place. The class gives you a dose of reality for when you get a job. I wish they had a class like that for hotels.
cafe 210 is the big spot to go after class for us, probably because it is a bit closer, and its really hard to bet those cafe tea deals to get you started, we even go all in chef coats which makes it kind of a cool experience
Well, I know he's getting an alum and a birthday group coming from Wilkes-Barre:)
Kewl! See ya there.
so far one anniversary, and one birthday, A few alums and teachers, my family and family friends are coming in full force, they haven't made reservations yet so they might lose out on the good times haha, We will save one of the two seated tables by the windows so you should have a great view (for those who haven't seen it before the room is a almost a full circle around, giving it a pretty cool feeling, and the walls on 2/3 of the room are all see through doors and windows, looking out into a garden)
Yep! And Happy Anniversary!
40 reservations so far...again thank you everyone for your support
I wish I could make it.
Open face Reuben rolls!! Are you f-ing kidding me? Those sound ridiculously amazing.
