Andrew, do you think that was Sasa's decision to not come back or coach Chambers? Chambers needs two ships for next year. One I quess is Sasa's and the other who knows. Sasa is our best post guy, why not come back, we need him next year.
I think the other 'ship belongs to Colella.
Has the Sasa news been reported? I had not seen it.
I knew we were now 2 over next year with Frazier needing a 5th year. Collela is a senior using an open scholarship so there will have to be one more move, perhaps a recruit will greyshirt. Has Ackerman's status been updated???
we have a Pitt transfer coming in so another player would have to leave as well....everyone is assuming Ackerman
That's not correct.
Including Colella, we have 11 guys on scholarship. That's 2 short of the max 13.
Next season, we bring in 5 new guys (four freshman/one transfer).
Only one guy (Colella) graduates. That puts us at 15 guys (11 plus 5 equals 16 minus one equals 15) on ship which is 2 too many.
Borovjak won't be back, so that's one. But we still need to find another ship - which is a kind way of saying somebody else has to go (however, we have had at least one player transfer every year for almost as long as I can remember so these things have a way of taking care of themselves naturally)..

You can't greyshirt in basketball - the season spans both semesters.
Uncle Lar do you think it will be Ackerman or Akosa?
Ackerman was a Dechellis recruit, Akosa is a Chambers guy.
true, but we might need a big man more than another SG. We'll have a bunch of SG's next year.
I thought I read about this, and after looking things up, found this:
""Nick is absolutely one of our hardest workers. He siezed the opportunity to get playing time last year and did some great things for us. He is one of our best shooters and we are happy to be able to reward his dedication with a scholarship in his final season."
- Patrick Chambers

Not sure what your point is.
That article confirms what I wrote. Colella is currently on scholarship and he graduates this year.
Where you went wrong in your post was your assumption that the Coella's scholarship is going to be the one that needs so be freed up for someone coming in next year.
That's not true. When people say that we are short two scholarships for next year, that already takes into account that Colella is graduating.
I tried to point that out when I did the arithmetic in my post.
As I wrote, there are currently 11 guys on scholarship (the NCAA limit is 13) Take those 11 guys, add in the four freshman, and the one transfer (who by the way will go on scholarship this semester) and you would have 16 guys before you factor in the departures. Colella graduates so that takes us down to 15, which is two more than the NCAA limit of 13. That means that two guys will have to leave before their eligibility is up. Sasa will be one. The second is tbd.

Like I suggested in my post, these things have a way of working out on their own.
Every year we have a transfer that no one suspects, so there's no need to single anyone out yet.
