with former psu targets j jenkins and s floyd declaring early for the nfl, this makes it 9 underclassmen at florida declaring early or leaving. is this a sign or trouble in side the program or just a talented group of juniors?
Jelani Jenkins is one fragile player. It seems like he is hurt every other week and misses games.
Alot of Florida kids leaving ... same with LSU ... I'd imagine the floodgates for Bama opens after tonight's game.
Nah... in the case of Floyd, I think everyone assumed he was a 3 year player if he produced in college. If you are an elite program, you expect this.
I think this was a case of talented kids who were allowed to do whatever they wanted under Urban Meyer and now that Muschamp came in and was more disciplined they probably left as soon as they could.
Dominate The State
It's FL, they have guys lined up who can play. They rotate lineman and defensive backs out a lot, so experience isn't an issue. But it helps for recruiting to say 3 years and NFL.
Floyd was never going to be a kid that got his degree. I'm somewhat shocked by Jenkins though. Thought getting a degree was important to him during the recruiting process. I also don't think he gets picked that high.
The recruiting strategy and level of talent that those programs brought in lead to getting elite players with the clear goal of making the NFL. Getting paid to play football was easily the top priority and when that option presents itself, of course they are going to take it.
Having said that, 9 is a crazy number. just having 9 guys in the draft is pretty good for a school let alone 9 underclassmen.
Jenkins had some good PR advice during his recruitment.....
Actually, some of those nine are transferring ... I think the number is at five right now.
my thoughts on jenkins too. during his recruitment it was about his degree and academics. we all know that the percentages are low when it comes to athletes returning to get their degree after they declare for the nfl, or nba.
2 Transfers....back-up QB and a RB. The back-up QB will hurt them depth wise.
4 early departures
I don't know where the 9 came from. LSU has at last count 7.
How about that....3 links in one post!
Gators sophomore quarterback Jacoby Brissett, who was beaten out by Jeff Driskel for the starting job this season, and sophomore running back Chris Johnson are transferring, the school announced Sunday.
GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- An injury-plagued season hasn't kept linebacker Jelani Jenkins from being the latest Florida player to decide to bypass his final
LSU junior defensive linemen Barkevious Mingo, Sam Montgomery and Bennie Logan will declare for the 2013 NFL draft, sources told ESPN's Joe Schad.
Lots of whispers about current bust Matt Patchan transferring to OSU.
dont you mean handling froma certain CB's father who badmouthed pSu to no end?
i believe haden's old man
Why should we have to go to class if we came here to play FOOTBALL, we ain't come to play SCHOOL, classes are POINTLESS
Yeah hopefully the trainer angle is now in our favor with both Roman Morris and Next Level Nation having some quality players.
Nm.. After doing some reading, muschamp said he hadn't received his degree.. I figured it was a certainty that a kid who did so well in hs would graduate in 4 years..
