Interview with former Central Dauphin standout linebacker Zayd Issah as he preps for the Big 33 game - and beyond.
Anyone find it strange they are letting him play in the Big 33 game?
Can someone provide a quick recap/highlight of what he said. My company blocks all video content.
"DOMINATE the state" - James Franklin 1/11/14
Can you summarize? I'm at work.
Nothing too new. He said it was exactly how OB put it to the media. He's trying to decide whether to go to Milford or Fork Union to prep. Will come down to money on which one he attends since he doesn't want to have to pay too much for a school he only plans to be at for 6 months.
Should be interesting. If he ends up here we probably take only 1 LB in 15. That would have us at 8.
I would still want 2.
Hopefully, he can get his personal life straightened out and he can enroll in January.
Seems to be an intelligent kid. He just needs to grow up and mature and prioritize
the things that are most important (family, education, and football over hanging out and
getting in trouble) to him.
So...no talk about opening his recruitment?
“We need to keep this (expletive) together,” Mauti and Zordich to Hill
It will be interesting to see how this plays out over the next few months.
My question is if he does come to PSU, will this be treated as an EE? Meaning that he will enroll in classes, but still wait until Feb to sign his LOI or how will this work? This is more of a "how is this situation handled" than directly regarding Zyad.
No. Says it was BOB's suggestion to go the prep school route.
From the interview, he seems to still want to play at PSU.
Reasonable people can disagree on this one. I have us at 8, but I also have us with 5 running backs. I think they probably feel that they can move linebackers around enough that they can get away with having 8 total, with 5 ready to go at any one time. This may also be a spot where run-ons can really contribute. The good news is Cooper looks like he may be a real stud. Have a feeling that once he gets some LB film out to coaches this fall he'll get his offer and commit (I had no idea until yesterday that he played DL last year because of an injury).
I'm hopeful we can Issah on board again if only because he is better than any other LB we seem to be able to land right now.
“We’re doing things we couldn’t imagine,” says safety Stephen Obeng-Agyapong. “But we’re doing them together.”
Yep I have us at 9 and 4. 8 isn't a bad thing, I would just prefer nine and taking two more next year.
I think what will likely happen, especially at these two positions where you are probably most likely to get a walk-on contributor, is that they will make determinations based on whether or not they like the walk on that would be the 9th or 5th option on the DC.
I also think recruiting backs like Scott who can also play receiver could help. But RB is just one of those positions where you can lose guys so fast, which is why I have us tentatively with 5.
Let's remember that there will be kids who get "the talk" over the next couple of years that will change things dramatically.
Well the ONLY way he would end up at PSU still is if he went the prep school route so as long as he gets his act together there, I feel confident he'll still end up a Nittany Lion.
He seems like a good kid. I hope things work out and he ends up Penn State in 2014.

I concur. This interview definitely gives a good first impression (as it's the first time I've heard him speak); and while it's only a 3+ minute clip, I'm willing to believe he's a good kid caught up in the wrong crowd as some posters here have said. I would not be disappointed to see him represent our university.
I certainly came away much more confident that he wants to be at PSU...and that he is going to listen to OB.

Care to give a brief summary of what was said? Or how BOB handled the situation.
Dominate The State
With 99 in his user name I'm guessing it wasn't BOB that gave him the talk.
