I always thought that if my nineteen year old, 6’4” 125 pound son ever grew and could have played college football, I would have wanted him to play for Joe Paterno and PSU. Strange admission for a guy who is an orange blooded Longhorn that grew up in Texas.
The PSU players, the team, did nothing wrong. The fans did nothing and the people of Pennsylvania did nothing wrong. One sorry bastard did it for the most part and he is indeed the rotten apple. Did officials at PSU not do their jobs…no question. But a system, a life-blood for millions should not be destroyed.
My question is, who in the hell is the NCAA? Who gives them power to kill? By his own definition NCAA headman Emmert states, "I think it's important to differentiate what the Penn State case was about and what it wasn't about. What we were interested in, and what we focused on was the behavior of those people around that situation, and whether or not the university handled the allegations and the information that it received appropriately."
Then go after the bad seeds, deal with that, smashing the lives of so many is wrong. Again does anyone really know what the hell goes on inside the cryptically sinister walls of the NCAA? They got $60 million from you and they appoint one of their own to handle the money…sure! Pennsylvania et alii should sue those bastards. They got their pound of flesh with erasing Joe’s record, Sandman is gone where he needs to be, they got a ton of money. Why destroy so much more, particularly on those who had no part in the tragedy?
Guys I married a girl from Bellefonte, German-Irish, beautiful and an angel; but don’t ever piss her off. I don’t have the answers but I’ll bet, you tough and stubborn PSU folks will find a way to show the NCAA that the fucked with the wrong crowd.
Now get your ass, all your butts out to the stadium tomorrow and beat the shit out of osu. It won’t make things right, but it sure will feel good.
Hook ‘em… Nittany Lions, especially the players that stayed.
We all agree here. We are devastated about what happened to those poor children. But that doesn't mean that innocents should suffer. Two wrongs do not make a right.
Thanks for your support. We have a feeling things are going to get interesting tomorrow night... According to everything we've heard, the crowd will be super charged up. Should make for a great game :)
Ill give you a return hook em. Thanks for the kind words. Hope Fera is doing well.
Thanks Bevo, but the sanctions that we have are not really the fault of the NCAA. They offered a set of sanctions that PSU had the OPTION to take if they wanted to forego an NCAA investigation. Our President, Rod "The Douche" Erickson, decided he'd take this set of sanctions, rather than going the normal rout of an NCAA investigation, sanctions (maybe), and right to appeal (if sanctions were handed down).
Don't blame the NCAA. Blame our worthless "leaders."
Either way, thanks for your very kind words.
I gotta say, I've always had great respect for Texas folk after PSU's trip there to the Cotton Bowl in the 70s. Great great fans and very hospitable. I feel so bad for Mack Brown et al and what you're going through right now. Mack is as class as Joe was. I root for the Horns every time I watch 'em. Here's hopin' you gig the Aggotts again this year and nothing but the best to all Texas 'Horns.
Awesome post... Glad to hear that people outside the PSU family can see it for what it is...
Thanks Bevostevo. Now can we have our kicker back?
Emotional post-- now go find a real team.
Thanks. NCAA is now a political machine. They'll step in when the media cries foul simply let the cheating continue why they make millions off of these kids.
