If winning was easy even losers would do it.
They will start at 125 if neither coach objects.
I suggest we continue to pile on Joyner first.
Cael mentioned that we don't do it yet only because we don't know if we can support that. He mentioned right now that our tickets are probably some of the cheapest in the country and we can sell out 6k seats at rec hall. But could we sell out 15k at the BJC at $10 a ticket.
I believe their is a BJC rental fee as well. I think a match against Iowa could do it ... if it's on a Saturday. I'm not convinced we could sell 15k tickets for a Friday match.
There is a BJC rental fee, so that plays into it. We have the cheapest tickets in the country for the product put on the mat. You're going to see a ticket price increase before you see a BJC match. The athletic dept will want to see the fans sell out Rec Hall at higher prices before they put anything in the BJC.

Hate is a terrible thing to carry around with you....hope you can turn your weekend around.
I hear ya.
I've just seen this before with the Alton's. The one is wrestling at a lower weight than he typically would and they are super aggressive guys and this stamina thing isn't new to either of them.
I imagine that atmosphere tonight had a significant impact on our guys.
To be honest, I don't mind the fan base at all, but Brands embodies his role as a villain coach wise. I can't stand who he is and how his teams embody his personality to the fullest. With respect though, he puts a quality team on the mat, year in and year out.
Tough environment but we just lost a couple of 50-50 spots that could've gone either way. Proud of how our guys fought through the worst possible start to the match.
PS can we start talking about how much of an animal Taylor and Ruth are? Amazed every time I watch them wrestle.
Didn't we lose to Iowa the first year we won the NC? Not too worried about it. The coach looked liek kind of a dick but I would call the entire program classless.... maybe just half of it
It sure seemed like it did effect a lot of our guys. That's why I said that it's not a sure thing that the suspension was the reason for the Alton results, because a tough crowd has the ability to affect opposing players no matter what their circumstance is coming in.
I can understand that...if he weren't leading my favorite program I'd probably find his 'enthusiasm' a bit annoying as well. Good to hear you're okay with our fan base. I'm sure the emotion of the match got the better of you with the earlier comment. Been there, done that.
Hahaha, I actually didn't mean it in an angry way, I was actually just being candid, and playing to the moment. I just cannot stand Brands, but I do have a tremendous amount of respect for the program and tha fanbase. My next door neighbors and best friend from childhood are Iowa junkies, and one thing I respect about them, is that they are fans through thick and thin, and show up no matter what. How can anyone not like Ferentz, constantly doing more with less, and a class act.
I believe it's definitely mutual...realizing each fan base has it's cocky trash talkers, but the majority just have knowledge and passion for their schools athletic programs and can wear it on their sleeves at times. Wrestling fans even more so, as it's a sport that truly does embodies intensity and having respect for the opponent, which I feel spills over to the fans. It was a great for the sport tonight to see that match on BTN. CHA was packed and both squads represented well....especially the "stars" on each side. I think the sport, at least within the conference, has a very bright future.
Its definitely a tall order to win at CHA, so no shame in losing a dual there. I was most disappointed for Nico as I thought he was going to get MCd this time. I was surprised w/how non competitive Gingrich was. While I didn't expect a win there I expected a better effort. I think the atmosphere got the better of a few guys, but I think they will all learn from the experience. I do believe when it counts the most at Big Tens and NCAAs the Lions are gong to come out on top.
I wish Gingrich would have wrestled the whole match like he did in the last minute. Yes, he may have got caught with something big or whatever, but he had to win, and I think the way he finished was the only chance for him to do that. Telford is a solid wrestler and was likely not going to make that big mistake, so Gingrich had to force it. I think he will continue to improve however, and like most, not getting down on many of these guys. Conoway people may have been disappointed in, but I still think that kid has it in him to be damned good.
Suck It Emmert!! and "Sorry for not being sorry for being a Penn Stater" - Philafan
Just remember this match when you guys lose in the Big Ten tourney and the NCAA tourney.
