So what was more impressive, Q disappointing for a while in 2010/2011 and turning it around and winning it all as a 9 seed or 2013 where he had to beat the #1 seed to seal the championship? 2011 was the first time I really followed and it was awesome to see him put it all together throughout the season (after people were questioning everything he did for months), but seeing him get it all done tonight and finishing it off for the team was incredibly special.
Celebrate the team victory, that is what's most important, and I'm sure DT would be the first to tell us that. Then look forward to next year, and the quest for 4 in a row. This team next year will again be very dangerous! Even with the loss of Q, I think the team will be better.
125: Nico (2x runner-up)
133: Gulibon (JC exceeded expectations but JG can be a special wrestler)
141: Beitz (could be Reatherford but think he takes a RS)
149: AA (will be improved, won't have to sit out a month)
157: DA (was very solid, will be even better)
174: Brown (really looking forward to seeing what he does next yr)
197: McIntosh (not as big a drop-off from Q as what many think)
285: Lawson (will be improved with a full yr under his belt)
For full disclosure, I appreciated wrestling (because of MMA) for a long time, but I didn't follow it until recently.
After Cael's first season, he was asked about the team over-performing at the NCAA tourney (I forget where I read it). He said that he was proud of what his guys did, but we'd never finish that low again. THAT statement is what made me start following the team.
That said, to me, the win over Kilgore is more impressive. Q this year, moving up a weight, looking like a normal, average guy, going up against this mountain of a prototypical wrestler and needing it for the team title. This year's win was the stars aligning for a signature win.
Oh there's a downvote. Where's the brave man hiding behind his internet anonymity? Stand up and come tell me why you didn't like what I had to say. Explain to the masses why what I said was wrong.
I take no issue with your downvote, I understand, and also agree with the right to make that choice. All I ask is that you step up, like a man, and explain why you felt the need to use it.
I congratulate Kyle dake on a legendary accomplishment he chose to go up a weight and beat the best in David Taylor... Not Many wrestlers would challenge themselves like that. God I wish they could wrestle again bc I still think David is better. He can take dake down which no one in the last 4 years can say
Jimmy G will be a step up from Conaway. Kid is the real deal. Should be in great shape for 4 in a row next year
We get it you do not like religion and want to take shots at people who do. How is that any different then an African American talking about how his race influenced him and a poster saying I liked everything he said except to much black talk. Look in the mirror with your comments. You do not have to agree or follow but to make comments you did proves what an ahole you are
By the way I wan Not the one to down vote just the one to call you out for stupid ass comment.

The dake legend grows with miss information. People have taken dake down in the last 4 years.
It was an exaggeration for sure, but one of the cool stats I saw noted fake only had two points scored against him over the last two NCAA tourneys. He is an impressive kid.
It certainly is tough to like Dake since he beat Taylor and tank in the finals, but that's one heck of an accomplishment, just incredible what he has done over four years. Congrats to Dake.
If winning was easy even losers would do it.
Q was injured that one year right? Shoulder?
I say this year is more impressive only because he went undefeated (with people not really realizing it) and the fact that he beat Kilgore. That Q we saw last night was incredible ... Very similar excitement we saw from him two years ago. Incredible match. I can't wait to see Morgan next year, but Q will be missed ... 4x All American.
I think that's a great summary.
Ill be interested to see how they roster Mega, Jimmy, and conoway.
Sorry on a cell phone after taking a sleeping pill, I am just glad I used actual words.

English isn't returning next season. Guliban and McIntosh? will be solid also Haines the HWT from Solanco is tough.
Meyer4Prez "This is wut happens when ur team site analyst are huge homers glad Bill K+Alex G keep it real instead of getting our hopes up."
Haines will be a senior next year
Well we'll have gulibon battling conaway next year for 133. Luke Frey coming off a redshirt year and incoming freshman zain retherford at 141. Vollrath will push both Alton's which will be good. Martelotti will be a senior, but he needs to regain the form he was in a couple years ago to make any sense of an impact. McIntosh continually pushed Q this past year, but also was hindered by an injury his true freshman year. Drop off shouldn't be too drastic. Excited to see Lawson get an entire offseason training with this staff as well after much needed Mat time. Think he can be dominant if he gets better conditioned and improved his body composition.

If gulibon shows well and betters conaway, don't be surprised to see Nico take a redshirt and have Cael move conaway down to 125. Cael's always putting his team in the best position to win, and best position to sustain long term success.
How good is Retherford?
I know he is currently ranked #1 at his weight nationally by intermat (138lb.) ... but are we getting top 5 or 10 guy for next year or top 20.
Might sound like I'm being a jerk, but I'm curious only because of how strong the conference is.
Zain is the third overall recruit in the country, junior cadet World champ and US champ. Non stop motor, very similar to Nico in how he attacks non-stop. Body is well distributed, some think he can be too light for 141, but he has a very legit shot at starting next year. It all depends on Frey, he was a top recruit in the country last cycle, so zain will have his work cut out for him, but he's definitely a too ten talent as a true freshman.
We also got Matt mccutcheon from kiski prep, who is 29th overall recruit, won super 32 at 195 but will wrestler at 184 in college. Him and Phipps will be the top candidates to replace Ruth when he's gone, but McCutcheon is ridiculously strong and he'll most likely to take Ruth's spot in a couple years.
Was Frey eligible this year and was just beat by AA or Conaway or Pearsall?
I'm pretty sure he redshirted because of team depth and a better showing by pearsalls than most expected.
Did I hear on the telecast correctly that Michigan had the #1 recruiting class in the country? How did they pull that off?
With PSU's recent dominance and emerging OSU and Michigan programs, Hawkeye fans may lose their sanity if they haven't already.
How Frey slipped my mind, I'm not sure. Now thinking about it, I can't see Zain not taking a RS. The amount of talent Cael has been able to bring in is absurd.
Hopefully, the coaches can lock up Chance!
they got the #1 recruit in the country. not sure about class
either way I think we'll be just fine for year 4 of the dynasty
Frey redshirted last year, 2011-2012 season.
