It makes sense for the heavy shrugs, assuming they don't have dedicated lifting shoes. Other than that, not sure why they're all in socks.

Allen Robinson is build like a mini Maybin. Unreal.
Lots of powerlifters (most notable is Arnold would always workout barefoot) will workout barefoot and swear by it, especially for things like squats and deadlifts or other lifts that require strong stabilization such as standing overhead press. One of the few benefits I can think off the top of my head for those exercises is it helps keep heels to the ground, and more natural posturing.
I usually just wear Chuck Taylors, but since I have my own power rack at home I will occasionally wear socks only to switch things up. I mean, dropping a weight on barefoot compared to the thin material of Chuck's isnt that big of a difference and you will prob. do damage either way.

He does, but he sort of always did IMO...He knows he needs to put on weight and its pretty tough to put on good weight when your knee is banged up and probably has not been able to do heavy squats, deadlifts, etc for awhile now. I wouldnt be too worried about it as he has plenty of time.
Agreed (at 0:40 second mark), and he still dominated competition at the HS level. Imagine what he will be like when he packs on 30lbs of muscle...
Agreed. Heavy weight and shoes with spongy, cushioned soles don't go together. Like lifting on a mattress.

all of the functional training they are performing if going to manifest into dominace on both lines. agilty and power! put that together with great coaching and you have a winning formula.
So do most teams do workouts this early? Also is there some NCAA reason they need to workout that early?
I believe NCAA regs say no workouts before 5am. Bench commented to a UMd player/recruit complaining about starting at 6a...
I'm guessing a lot try to get them in early before classes start for the day.

Im a big fan of some of the explosive work football is about short bursts of explosiveness which ends after each play. The tug of wars and wrestling builds a mental toughness that 20 rep low weight nonsense of the past never could.
Still cant get over A Robinson kid is nfl ready physically speaking.
