Depending on how his career pans out he could end up regretting it. That said if KSU was where he felt most comfortable than it was the right decision for him. I think he was weighing proximity to home and GF, playing with IW Teamates, and loyalty to the first program that offered vs. a better educational opportunity and better positional development. I don't doubt that it was a difficult decision for him
Personally I believe that the late night visit from the Iowa Western Coaches pushed him to KSU over PSU. I think his HC explained how important KSU is to the continuing success of programs like Iowa Western. KSU will always rely heavily on JUCOs to fill out their lineup. Jake was potentially a one and done for PSU. It makes a lot more sense to "guide" your top player to the program that will continue to recruit and sign your kids. I get that and I'm not mad about it. It is what it is,
K-State QBs get some NFL respect (Freeman) and Klien has Heisman opportunity. Good coaching, Big 12 Defenses are weak. He's'in a good place. I agree w/ a lot of the pro-Penn State reasons. But either choice would have been good choices. I think he may actually be in a better place @ K-State. Hack could come in all Bolden-like and force his way onto the field ahead of everyone... For better or worse.
Freeman did not develop under Snyder and Klein is a much worse Tim Tebow.
Exactly. Freeman was a Ron Prince mentee.
Klein is a TE playing QB.
So, what if Kline gets dinged in KSU bowl game, and the backup (?Sams?) comes in and plays lights out. Better than Kline. Or if Snyder leaves for another job and takes most of his staff with him.
And Waters calls OB and tells him he'd rather go to PSU.
What do you say if you're OB? Do you rescind the offer to Ferguson?
Me, I'd tell him to come on down. I know Joe would never do that, say you had your chance and botched it. But I think Joe was a little stubborn in that area. And I'd keep Ferguson. Having only 2 QBs on the roster for spring is light, even given the sanctions. And you dont' want to rescind offers, like they do in the SEC (I think TAMU has 34 commits).
Not a chance.
So we should spit in the face of a kid who committed to us sight unseen to take a guy who spurned us at the alter? No thanks. Good luck to Jake. I'd rather have a guy who clearly wants to be at PSU...decommitted from Houston at the thought of PSU offering. Tyler Ferguson come on down...
PSU under BOB is a pro style qb dream. Just look at what the patriots are doing this yr with Brady. Don't know what Waters thinking nor do I care. Fergie is smart to recognize his Christmas present all gift wrapped and probably said thank you God for Waters decision. For us, welcome and we love to have u develope into a first round pick.
Snyder is only leaving for the nursing home.....We also have Whipple enrolling early which makes me feel much better about our depth
