Guess he's never heard of Wes Welker before. With all the emphasis that has been put on the TE position lately, it must have scared him away. Oh well.
In my opinion...
DOB - huge loss.
MM - fairly substantial loss.
RS - eh...not that big of a deal. Easy spot to fill elsewhere.
Guess mom won.
What I don't like is the current trend after the early momentum, MM was a Penn State lean and Switzer was suppose to be a Penn State lock. There was talk about having 10 commits by the Blue/White game and now no one is sure when the next one might be coming.

man, that coach couldn't wait to spill the beans.. so much for Ryan getting his moment in the spotlight..
Good for him! We are finished now! Penn State will never be good again!
Wow -- nice of his coach to make the decision public before the announcement - that is terrible (and this is the guy that advised him not to commit to PSU and look around).. Doesn't seem like a guy that has Ryan's best interest at heart..
Good luck to him.. Consider me shocked at the sudden turnaround..

If this is true, RS is probably pissed. After AB committed, he talked about wanting his moment in the spotlight. Talk about a Kanye moment for him.
Wow. I am surprised. I hope for his sake mom was right.
...and if you're not down with that, then I got 2 words for ya.."suck it!!"
If this isn't an elaborate troll job by Switzer, then this coach is a grade A douchenozzle.
I'm not really all that concerned either way with Switzer's recruitment. He's not nearly as important to PSU as Danny O'Brien was, but this is a pretty immature thing to do for a guy supposedly mentoring young men.
Not gonna lie, if this is true then his coach is a scumbag.
Switzer was ready to commit to PSU a while ago, then his coach stopped him and told him to "take his time," but then after one visit to UNC, he doesn't have a problem with Switzer making a decision.... but better yet, knowing that Switzer is extremely excited to make his announcement on his own terms, his coach goes out and tells the paper his decision (if true) the day before his announcement?
Like Espresso said, it doesn't seem like this guy has Ryan's best interests at heart, and instead just doesn't want to have his player go to Penn State after what happened.

Half the people on Tar Heel 247 probably are wondering why UNC is signing a 5'9 basketball player!
Why go their when you can play for a real football school?

Because there is more to life and college than football.
Black Shoes. Basic Blues. No Name. All Game.
POO, please. They all want football first! Don't kid yourself...
Kids couch is a douche! Also, a lot of folks on this board are making more out of this than they should. What is he, like a *** star?

This stinks, but he's choosing a school under NCAA sanctions with little tradition over PSU. One would have to question the wisdom of those advising him but to each his own. It's obvious his coach steered him away from PSU. I'd be interested to know why this coach favors a program currently under NCAA sanctions.
I hope he enjoys all those Duke v. UNC bball games, because those students won't be showing up at his football games.

Thanks again Jerry. You piece of sh*t.
Makes it easy on us...no need to tune in now tomorrow morning.
"One man didn't build this program and one man sure as hell cannot tear it down."
Switzer is SO small his only chance to play would be an exact Wes Welker clone! What better way than at PSU. At any other school the chances of him seeing the field drop very quickly.
Does this coach have any ties to UNC that anyone knows of? Seems awfully strange how this turn of events unfolded. Take your time with the PSU decision, but rushrushrush after visiting Chapel Hill.

He's 17. His family is a bit older and wiser. Everyone has to make the best choice that fit their own priorities, and it's everybody's perrogative to do so freely. Penn State did all they could, and in the end he chose a place where he felt he'd be happier and help set him up for the rest of his adult life.
As a PSU fan, I'm happy with the effort and execution of my own school. There's no scoreboard in this one to indicate if you're winning or not. It just comes down to a single choice.
I apologize if I anger anyone but do not really see this as a big loss. He is not a game-breaking WR. He would have been a shifty slot guy. Shouldn't be too difficult to replace that. IMHO.
This coach owes some money to the douchebag jar.
It's march!!!!!!!!! u act like national signing day is tomorrow! He's a 5'2" 3 star recruit. We will be ok, long way to go ppl.
HIGHLY disagree with this.
All indications are that this choice was everyone's but his.
