Deflated footballs and they still lost to Oregon! They were under scrutiny for a jersey swap against Colorado a month before.
"The student manager confirmed that he had, without the knowledge of, or instruction from, any USC student-athlete, coach, staff member or administrator, deflated those game balls after they had been tested and approved by officials prior to the game.""
I'm not calling BS, but... well ok, I am.
"You can take bowl games and you can take external things from people, but you can't take a warrior's heart."
You dont just deflate game footballs because you feel like it, you do it because someone told you to

Lane Kiffen, man of integrity.
I guess old Al was right when he stated "Lane is a liar". What a joke of a coach
I'm sorry but crap like that has no part in the game. It's cheating and a fine is a joke. These coaches are paid millions of dollars, but aren't responsible for having any integrity at all. We all know Kiffen is clearly lacking there, but then again...it's about the culture Emmert kept harping on.
"One man didn't build this program and one man sure as hell cannot tear it down."
my questions is, isn't USC on probation?
What exactly violates that probation? serious question...
Wow USC is simply the dirtiest scummiest program around. So glad Oregon pounded them.
correct, chances of that being true are somewhere around zero percent.
Actually, rogue student-managers are a bigger threat to the integrity of college athletics than the win-at-all-cost "culture". I'm sure the NCAA is looking info it.
“We need to keep this (expletive) together,” Mauti and Zordich to Hill
I love how it says "the student manager confirmed..."
Can't you just see someone asking him, "well, you did this without ANYONE's knowledge...right? (wink, wink). After all, that's the only explanation that makes sense."
Of course he'll "confirm" the answer to a leading question.
Well if you can't beat them, which Lane clearly can't, you can cheat and STILL not beat them.
I find it pathetic that he, or any other coach, pulls bushleague moves like this and STILL can't win. What a joke. I mean, they're USC, they should see this as a disgrace that a coach of theirs would feel they have to stoop to this to try and get a win. I would expect this crap at Notre Dame, but not at USC. The Trojan family should be ashamed to have a scumbag like Lane as their HC.
Why should we have to go to class if we came here to play FOOTBALL, we ain't come to play SCHOOL, classes are POINTLESS
Exactly what I said when I read that. Way too funny that people would believe this kid would go out and do this on his own.
Kind of like when a baseball team gets questioned about the length of the grass on the infield and the groundskeeper says he did it on his own....and the manager had no idea about it.
So freaking funny how many passes Lane Kiffin gets when it comes to cheating and that old bag of hot air emmert just sits up there. I wish Vicky Tripony worked at USC cause then her boyfriend could go after them instead.
Anyone want to bet the kid is still on teh work study payroll....
Boy if walls could talk ( and if i cared about what he had to say ). But it would be interesting to hear Silas' thoughts 10 years from now, when the anger subsides, comparing the 2 cultures of both programs (The Paterno years vs the Kiffin year) With regards to integrity on the team, etc..
Not only did he switch jerseys...He switched the punters jersey (the holder on FGs and XPs) with the backup QB, and then put the backup QB into the game during a blowout to Colorado, to proceed to run a 2pt conversion fake. Not only is this against the rules, but among the lowest on the totem pole of respect and integrity. Why they are not getting reprimanded for clearly trying to illegally bend the rules, but for all the low-life stuff that they do.

"Whoever’s trying to kill me isn’t getting the job done. But one day, I’m going to punch that f___r in the face."
By the way, this is the 2nd time Kiffin was caught doing something this year....
He switched game jerseys on someone earlier in the year to throw off the opposition. Again this time the Special Teams Coach told the kid to do it.
So you either have to think Kiffin is a liar OR that all of these people have no respect for him as a Head Coach and just do whatever they want to do.
Yes why isnt any of this a violation?
I'm sure some of this stuff could fit into the new NCAA rules relative to head coaches.
Doesn't each team supply their own balls? How did they get access to the ducks balls?
Yes insert joke
That's funny, I don't care who you are!!!!
Kiffen deflated his own balls.
USC can't touch the Ducks' balls. Besides you have to blow the feathers to see a duck's balls anyway.
October 12, 2013. PSU 43 - UM 40 (4 OT). Unfortunately this fan wasn't around long enough to see it!
WHY are they not getting reprimanded? Because Emmert is TOO BUSY monitoring Penn State's football "culture" to make sure no more children are harmed.
So had USC won, would the game have to be forfeited?
Saying they should be sanctioned is a bit overboard IMO.
With all the other stuff going on in CFB, like academic fraud for instance, I'd rather the NCAA focus their considerably short attention span on more important issues than deflated footballs from an incompetent coach.
Great article on Kiffin's incompetence even before the deflated ball story came out.
