I really hope it is for DC and not just a potion coaching job. Bradley deserves better. His the stats from his defenses speak for themselves.
I think Holgerson is a class A dick and TB would be a fool to go to WVU to work for him... Plus if Bradley runs the kind of defense he ran here, the zone bend but don't break I think the BIG12 lights it up the way houston lit us up in the Bowl Game.
Would be cool to see TB back on the sidelines somewhere. DC at WV would be a good spot for him to get back into it.
TB needs to get in the game even if not as DC. He needs to show he is no longer toxic. Once back in the game he can be a stronger candidate for a DC or even HC position.
He wouldn't. Paterno dictated a lot of that.
I think Bradley wants to stay close to Pittsburgh.
Lol he will get torched in the Big 12
PENN STATE FOREVER
Wrong. He is a smart man and an excellent college football coach. Even in oyr dark years our def was stout.
Our defense was stout against terrible offenses.
Against good offenses our defense would get crushed.
the soft zone run by a bunch of unathletic white DBs never fared well against teams with a good passing attack.
Bob's offense would destroy the best Bradley D.... Roof was one of the biggest upgrades in the new staff
LOL, wow, that is just crazy talk. you think our O from thsi year would have destroyed our D in 2005 with Poz, King, Connor, Tamba, Alford, etc?? Lay off the crack pipe
our d was pretty good this year without TB...
Not denying that, but he said OB offense would destroy any Bradley defense and discrediting everything Bradley did here is just stupid.
Hell, that team shut down an OSU team that year with a Heisman winning QB, 2 First round picks at WR and a very good RB in Pittman.
I would say BOB and his offense were by far the biggest upgrade.
Dominate The State
Agree. Roof did a nice job this year, but Bradley was great as well. He was handcuffed with a lack of athletes at DB and the conservative mentality Paterno.
Bradley will do well wherever he lands next.
Sure, it would be interesting to see how TB would perform without Paterno's shackles. I think he would be much more aggressive if he were permitted and had the requisite talent on hand.
PSU doesn't need TB at WVU, Pitt, Temple or anywhere close. He's too good a recruiter.
That's pretty funny looking back. They feasted on bad Big10 defenses like we did with bad Big 10 offenses.
“We need to keep this (expletive) together,” Mauti and Zordich to Hill
Hello all! Haven't posted recently, non VIP member so some may not even remember my handle, new job has kept me only at lurker status. Anyway, not that you're not allowed to have your opinion black shoes, but holgerson is actually a pretty good guy. I know this first hand as I have met him a few times, but only chatted briefly. My nephew actually plays on the team and really likes him a lot. Says he's a good guy and emphasizes the things you would want your coach to prioritize from a on and off the field standpoint. Just wanted to weigh in on this, as I kind of always thought he seemed like a bit of a d*ck too until my nephew started playing for him and told me otherwise.
Weren't there rumors that TB was a 3-4 guy?
It would take a while to recruit to whatever defense he wants because they've run the 3-3-5 for so long, but he's gotta be better than what they had.
Why should we have to go to class if we came here to play FOOTBALL, we ain't come to play SCHOOL, classes are POINTLESS
well let see what happens with this year team and beyond with Roof.
remember all the players on last year team were still Joe's guys.
And the eagles, flyers, 76ers and phillies are all going to win world championships next year...
No that is not true. Our defense was very good against very good offenses even in the dark years. The PSU defense was left out to dry by the offense which could not sustain any long drives or control the time of possession. The TB d's did exactly what they were supposed to do., they kept the ball in front of them and didn't give up too many big plays. Yes if we didn't get a good pass rush we would get dinked and dunked. But we also had games where we were getting good pass rushes early in the game only to be left out to dry by the offense going three and out every series.
I would say Bradley was a nickel guy. We were in the nickel a lot. 4-2-5 or 3-3-5.
How could someone seriously say that the new DC was our biggest upgrade? The defense was very good this year. But how could you not see that the huge improvement was on the other side? Bradley's defense often held the whole program together while that dysfunctional offensive staff would take 8 or 9 games to figure out what they were doing.
Anyone that wants to criticize TB look at the numbers. Other than 2010, PSU defensive rankings were outstanding when TB was DC. TR's defenses haven't been that stellar statistically so to say he is an upgrade is ridiculous. If TB did what he did with the talent that he had, then just imagine what he could have done with so-called better SEC athletes. Other than the Iowa drive of 2008, I can’t remember a time where a TB defense let us down. TB’s defenses are a major reason that JoePa was able to become the all-time winningest D1 college football coach. The only reason anyone would say TR is better is because he came from the SEC and plays more a more "aggressive" style of defense. Let’s not forget that Auburn did not win the NC because of their defense which ranked 60th in Total Defense and a whopping 76th in Pass Efficiency Defense, but they were 53rd in Scoring Defense. I'm not bashing TR as I think he is a good DC, but I'm tired of the talking heads on this website bashing our old regime. Were there problems and shortcomings absolutely, but let's not forget that they are the people that made us so passionate about this program. These men are the reason we have been called a “cult” and that we pay money to talk to each other about 17 – 22 year old kids.
