Good article by Gene Wojciechowski
Now that Sen. George Mitchell has issued another positive quarterly review of Penn State's rehabilitation efforts, it's time for the NCAA to do what was unthinkable seven months ago: reduce the sanctions.
That's the article I've been waiting to see.
“We’re doing things we couldn’t imagine,” says safety Stephen Obeng-Agyapong. “But we’re doing them together.”
I hate Gene Wojciechowski. I'm not even an "anti-ESPN" guy. But he's one of the more annoying analyst around IMO.
On one hand I am very happy someone in the mainstream media is saying this.
On the other hand he is still propagating the false narrative by saying paterno basically turned a blind eye for years.
However, I agree with the parole hearing and reduction aspect. I don't give a rats ass what people think just want the sanctions gone!
Let me amend that last statement. I do care about JoePas legacy. Overtime that may get restored a bit but now I'm more concerned about sanctions.

I thought he has a good idea but not for the right reasons. He's still sold on the Freeh report as damning to Paterno and PSU. The NCAA certainly should relook the case with Freeh, Paterno, and Blehars reports all laid down on the table together.
The NCAA should imparitally weigh additional evidence like a new DNA test clearing a man serving time. But not because PSU is actually following the recommendations of the Freeh report. No one ever had an issue with those, except the applicability of 5 of many.
Freeh's recommendations were fine. His analysis and the resulting NCAA punishments were where the process failure occurred and they should be the basis for the re-evaluation of the PSU case.
Who cares why he wants them reduced, let's just get them reduced and worry about shaping the narrative later.
Dominate The State
And there does seem to be some momentum building. Maybe that's just wihsful thinking on my part.
Don't agree with much of the articles stances on PSU and Joe as I don't think the NCAA should have penalized us and I don't think there was a cover up here at all - but I do agree the NCAA should reduce or eliminate the sanctions, especially with the new info/reports coming out since..
This is a big picture article from a guy who has been killing us for the most part. I don't care about the subtle and not so subtle shots he took at us in the article, our main concern right now is getting the sanctions reduced...the sooner the better.
I don't think I would call that article good at all.... The big point is in the right direction, but I strongly disagree with a lot of what he said like, "Corbett's lawsuit is an insult to the victims of Sandusky's twisted crimes." really? He is also firm that the NCAA had every right, if not an obligation, to be involved to "punish Penn State". The only thing we agree on actually is that PSU has gone above and beyond to make a tragedy right and for that they should be given a chance to lessen the sanctions. I believe that as well, but I also believe the NCAA had absolutely no business even entering a criminal matter let alone bullying the school into using an incomplete report in lieu of an actual NCAA investigation. In that sense, we are miles apart.

Efforts are constantly ongoing to reshape the narrative. nobody should ever 'worry about it later'. I'm all for sanctions being reduced for whatever reason and I'll take time off for good behavior. But I hope the efforts to reshape the narrative never cease until the truth is more widely accepted than the lies.
Again agreed! Maybe I'm posting too much here :)
These self righteous people don't get that many of these victims are penn state fans. They are being punished by the sanctions. Two of them even said as much.
Definitely thought the most interesting thing was seeing that the consent decree could actually be amended. Never thought that was an option
Woj is a hack and the majority of the article is BS. I wish Ivan Maisel wrote the article.
Yeah, I wasnt too big of a fan of that article either. Wojo certainly didnt pass on any opportunity to kick Penn State in the teeth in the article. He has one or two sentences where he says we are reforming and the NCAA should reward us, but other than that, its pretty anti-penn state.
BacardiBuckeye: "But in all honesty I like Penn State, I want to see Penn State do good that's why I check this board everyday." 4/2/14
"Anyway, Corbett's lawsuit is an insult to the victims of Sandusky's twisted crimes. How can anyone think that Penn State's inertia didn't help enable Sandusky? Or that the NCAA wouldn't step in and issue punishment?" - Gene Wojciechowski
Complete ignorant BS.
But at least the narrative is changing.
From Yahoo! Sports: One of Jerry Sandusky's victims was in the NCAA's sanctions on Penn State.
A man who once led the NCAAs committee on infractions says the college sports governing body should not bring severe sanctions on Penn State related to the Jerry Sandusky child sex abuse scandal.

Well he has successfully put himself on the fence ... seems like a grade A doucher to me.
If winning was easy even losers would do it.
Like most of you, I disagree with a whole lot in that article, but would love it if PSU could get any reductions in the brutal sanctions.
Article was crap but the interesting thing is how the pendulum is starting to swing back towards Penn State. Or is he an NCAA hack trying to float some sort of compromise agreement to settle Corbett's lawsuit?
He ain't heavy - He's my brother!
The article is not good. It sucks. My faith tells me not to hate. But God help me, I hate his ignorant ass and the others just like him. I don't give a damn about the sanctions. I give a damn about a great human, program, and school being continually trashed by lies and self-righteous idiots.
"You can take bowl games and you can take external things from people, but you can't take a warrior's heart."
You are wrong on so many levels, I don't know where to begin. So I will just push the ignore button.
You're ignoring him why?
I think you mistook Jetta quoting from the article as a quote by Jetta himself. Jetta was merely stating his dislike for the quoted language which was from Woj. And the quoted language, as Jetta correctly stated, is complete ignorant BS.

I think that's what those little things are on either side of a sentence.
+1 for simplicity
Big picture first we can iterate the details later.
Unfort he subscribes to the branch of journalism....don't let the truth get in the way of a good story
