I know this may be questionable but I swear I saw the ref lip to mm that his throw did not make it past the line of scrimmage. It appeared to me in the replay he was out side the origional tackle box and throw did make it across the origional line of scrimmage.
He was outside the box and the ball CLEARLY was past the line judge.
But we are talking about big ten refs who have issues with lines
Guys, I'm as pissed off as the next guy about the game but that was intentional grounding.
Dominate The State
Not by the rule.
Outside the pocket and past LOS is not grounding
I thought the call was alright, but it never should have come to that point.
There are rules and the ref lips to him it did not go across line of scrimmage which it did.
Why was it alright! He was out side the tackle box and ball past line of scrimmage.
I had no problem with that call to be honest. I thought he was throwing it away and Zordich wasn't close. Whether he was outside the tackle box or not was really a non factor as we shouldn't have been in that position based on the ineptness and the fixing of the games by the refs.
But no one needs to be close as long as he is out side tackle box and the ball crosses line of scrimmage
It looked like he was close to the tackle box, but to be honest I wasn't paying that much attention at that point. I was still too pissed about the touchdown at that point. I haven't seen a replay since the play itself, so I could be wrong. I've come to expect close calls like that to go against us. The touchdown being another story.
I know ... I'm just saying that even if the call was poor or not, that wasn't the one that cost us the game and really had no impact. We needed to score a TD even without a safety, not a FG.
He was clearly outside the box. Te goal post was a reference point an he was a good 6'outside of that
It was close, I don't have a big problem with that call.
I agree with you but it is another example of the piss poor ref job today,

What was close?
I am not sure. Well outside the box and the ball landed at the 7 and the LoS was at the 3? Maybe 4
He was just outside the tackle box. It was close enough where it wasn't a horrible call.
Kind of like the ball was just touching the goal line? And as I said the ref lipped ball did not make it past the line of scrimmage which it did by 3 yards
The ball was clearly past the LOS, the big question was, was MM in the tackle box. He WASN'T, but it was close.
I thought with where Zordich was, the officials generally give the QB the benefit of the doubt. I mean the QB can just blame a miscommunication on which way the receiver broke on his route.
It was a close call all around. I thought he was inside the tackle box (guess I was wrong), but the ball definitely went past the line and in Zordich's general direction. That is usually good enough.
Whatever, still just too stunned about the replay officials on Lehman's should be touchdown. Shame on them. I am sure we will get makeup calls against Indiana that we won't even need.
and then the following week, get hosed once again against the Badgers.
Yep...in the In-Game thread, I said I can't wait to see what Wisconsin gets away with.
prolly. I really think we match up well with the Badgers, although their QB surprised me with his wheels today.
Did he intentionally throw the ball away to avoid a sack? yes.
Did he do it legally? yes
If you are outside the tackles & get the ball past the line of scrimmage, its ok to intentionally ground the ball.
MM did both.
Im an official, & Im beginning to wonder about these decisions.
I dont blame the L on the goalline for calling it a fumble, but the replay official has no excuse for not ruling that a TD. He should be removed from the booth permanently.
First, as an official, you dont throw a flag unless you are certain.
You certainly dont throw a flag that will cost the teampoints unless you are 100% certain.
How can you be certain when he in fact was outside the tackle box.
These refs took 9 points from PSU.
It is inexcusable.
