I had seen some posts around that said that the crowd was unimpressive.....
I thought the crowd was damn impressive for week #1 vs. Ohio U. I think I heard it was under 98,000? Seemed pretty decent to me and friends who were watching from home thought it sounded like utter choas most of the game.... Much more intense than typical TV viewing....
My hat is off to those in attendance.... the crowd was working it's ass off..... lots of communication issues and some bobbled snaps.
Seats unsold must have been for sale by the school directly, as there was not a ticket to be found outside. There have been very few games where you literally still had hundreds of folks roaming the streets and around the stadium looking for tickets that even scalpers didn't have. I am by no means saying there was a sellout, however, either tickets were sitting at folks' homes, or selling for too high of a cost directly by PSU, because there were a lot of people panicking outside of the stadium that did not make it in.
I was at the game and crowd, except students, just died after the half. BTW...there was only two or three "WE ARE" chants thru the entire game. In stadium entertainment flat out sucked.
I bought a pair for $20 each at 9am
As we walked by the Natatorium, I saw a guy approach a scalper and say 'I'll take fifty for both'
My wife asked is that a good sign or a bad sign, and I said probably a bad sign because the scalper bought them without comment, blinking, and I'm not even sure if he yet knew where the seats were located. As it happened, we paid face to sit in NF lowers but my wife wanted to get in. Sometimes it's just easier that way. But I never saw fewer tickets available relative to demand than yesterday and I've been coming to games since 1966. It was interesting.
Now that everyone's seen B O'B and company and been back inside the stadium, not expecting a repeat of yesterday for a good while.
"We want the warriors"
The alumni seem to quit whenever the game gets uninteresting, at least on the scoreboard.
When we went up 14-3, it was like they thought the game was over so they didn't have to raise hell anymore. Then when they started scoring in the third and gained momentum, it never picked back up. Possibly out of shock, but it was certainly disappointing. They give students so much grief for not getting to the game on time, but then stop cheering in the third and fourth quarter. Frustrating for certain.
Last thing about the crowd, when people started to boo McGloin at the end, I felt like we took a step back as fans. We had done a great job as students to make things tougher on Ohio, to the point where the right guard had to tap the centers shoulder so he could know when to snap the ball, but booing McGloin at the end was out of line. Nobody on the roster deserves that after what they've been through.
Why should we have to go to class if we came here to play FOOTBALL, we ain't come to play SCHOOL, classes are POINTLESS
THIS!!!! The crowd was way tooooo quiet--granted not alot to cheer about in the second half but we got to try and pick up the players ...students were great as usual..
To the PSU Adm: If you want to force a new beginning to the era--get something original to get the crowd going--ie-Wisc.!
Empty seats were in ED and EF. Outlandish prices were to blame. My goodness do we need some new (outside hire) administrators!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Do you guys think that fans will continue to not show up now that we lost to Ohio?
I think many fans-people want to....BUT not when the prices are what they are..For me to take my 8 and 11 year olds to the game, I was looking at a minimum of 270 dollars for just the tickets. Since the big boys down there have screwed everythng else up to this point, MAYBE they can step in and do something about this situation....
I have been to Pitt games where there is 40,000 in Heinz Field, and WE DONT WANT THAT--believe me!!
I was in ED, lower level, about 2/3 of the way up and crowd was not loud at all. Defense was awful, crowd was not super loud, offense was awful, running game was nonexistent, coaching was bad.
We're going to go down to Charlottesville and beat UVA at noon in a week? Dammit, I'm not trying to start the season 0-2!

I thought the crowd did a better job cheering then the players did playing football. l'm sorry but losing to the mac while the nation is watching is just embarrassing.
That has to do with a certain coordinator doing a poor job.
You have to put players in good position in order to win ball games, even against a team of much lesser quality.
“If you remember me, then I don't care if everyone else forgets.” ― Haruki Murakami
The guy next to me said he went on the PSU ticket website and they wanted $150 each for the unsold seats midfield. So he went to Stubhub
Atmosphere missed Guido?
I loved the rock music and louder music... much more angry and passionate. The only thing that sucked was that abortion of entrance music.
The older fans crying about the noise of the music and people standing too much are literally the death of PSU....
PENN STATE FOREVER
And stop freakin apologizing for something the school and these young men didn't do. I'm tired I our administration trying to appease the general public, the press, ESPN and the NCAA. F#%k em. Time to Fight on State
That may have been the case at 9:00 AM. I am just saying at 11:15 outside of the stadium there were a slew of folks looking for tickets, and there were none to be found.
I was there...took my dad and son and nephews (bro-in-law too, but he's gone with me before) to their 1st PSU game. We were up in NLU with Ohio fans and some other PSU fans...it was still a good atmosphere even up there. I know those of us up there chanted and cheered our asses off...even my 6 yo son had Ohio fans smiling and laughing because he was so into it...made me a proud dad!
Believe deep down in your heart that you're destined to do great things - Joe Paterno
Atmosphere was very good!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Unsold seats were EC, ED and EF. I think they were 130-140 on GoSports!
This is shameful for the university to charge these unfair prices.
LOWER SEAT PRICES should be done before next game!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I agree but lowering single game ticket prices after others paid a fortune in donations and season ticket prices will piss off season ticket holders and convince them to stop buying season ticket packages. Instead I wouldn't be surprised to see PSU actually consider Groupon/LivingSocial. That would be pretty sad but if they can get $60 a ticket for the last 10k seats instead of $0, they might just do it (it was done for the FedEx field game although that was obviously a different scenario).
Maybe that's why I thought the crowd was decent. I was in NJ. From our side of the stadium, our sections were pretty live. Maybe the accoustics are just better under the awning?
