"The University of Virginia notified Penn State that it would not be playing the Sept. 14, 2013 game scheduled for Beaver Stadium in order to play a home game on that date. We are working with Virginia to re-schedule the game for Beaver Stadium in a future season. We have begun discussions to find an opponent for the Sept. 14 date and expect to make that announcement very soon."

How dumb does he think we are?
Next week he will announce an agreement to play UCF. That will be funny.
I can't stand Joyner but if the UCF series agreement isn't finalized then this is about all he can say officially.
So I'm obviously not an athletic director but I'm about as qualified as DJ to be one but ..... is it normal an/or ok for a program to just shit on you scheduling wise. I'd tell UVA to go F themselves and cut me a check... a big one. At this point I'm not interested in rescheduling the game because UVA just spit in my face and they can pound sand. The FSU/WVU buyout was 500 thousand and if I'm DJ I will be expecting a check from WVU for something comparable.
Happens all the time.
I guess. Saw earlier today that oregon just pulled out of a game with nevada to play UVA.(taking psu's spot.) There you go we should get nevada to come here. But probably will just be filled with Western New York Poly-technical Academy.

I'm hoping that he announces that we're playing UCF at home in 2013, then overseas in 2014, then at UCF in 2015.
This sort of change is almost certainly covered in the contract and the penalty UVA will pay is determined. Unless of course this is part of a UVA-to-the-BIG situation in which case there would probably be major negotiations on payout and the BIG might even get involved.
Anybody know why UVA would do this? Why not just play the game? Seams they're make a simple situation pretty complex. And as far as the UVA to the BIG that wouldn't happen until at least 2014 so I don't see how that would be relevant and if that were the reason there would be zero talk about even attempting to reschedule.
He should have continued his statement with " I am sorry I am such an asshole. And a complete scumbag. I do not have a cle what it means to do it the psu way so I am resigning effective immediately."
i would hope so.....i mean, we sold out there stadium for them last year..then they jump out of an away game so they could get another home game next year. Next time we meet, i fully expect to run it up..this type of crap goes on the tack board behind a coach's desk
I just noticed UFC at PSU on sept 14. Ha I'm more qualified then Joyner

“We’re doing things we couldn’t imagine,” says safety Stephen Obeng-Agyapong. “But we’re doing them together.”
They'll make more money by having a home game against Oregon than by coming to PSU to play a game.
Im not sure it happens all the time, since schedules are made well in advance.
But i would agree that by no means is it rare.
We never complained b/c we were the ones usually doing the rescheduling to a better opponent. Now we are considered the lesser opponent,
PSU is experiencing alot of things we never have in the past.
I guess we'll have to just go out a kick a little ass.
They don't want us taking anymore kids from VA.
That's an interesting point. The state of Virginia has a good number of quality 2014 kids. Doubt that was the driver in the decision but may have been a minor factor.
Something tells me they are awfully nervous about losing to a program handicapped by sanctions on the road and would rather get railed by Oregon in Charlottesville instead. It would look very bad for UVA to lose in State College next year in the minds of instate recruits.
Joyner sure knows how to be a piece of crap even with something as mundane as a scheduling change.
I would think playing Oregon, who's probably going to be top 5 opening the season next year, just gives them greater exposure and more money.
Word is they were working on scheduling another home game to fill their schedule and Oregon inquired but conflicted with PSUs date. After talking with PSU, we released them from the contract to help them out.
Belief is that this will help UVA grow in football and increase their attractiveness to the BIG for expansion. Which would make it easier to reschedule and play them down the road.
That's all info from a buddy of mine that's very involved in the athletic department at UVA. TIFWIW because even he said that that is the gossip in Charlottesville, so don't take it as gospel and go all crazy on me.
I'm really not too upset, PSU already play in Charlottesville so they got the exposure in VA that they wanted. I would much rather play UCF in FL and get some exposure than have UVA come home. The game will be moved back and we'll eventually play them.
Dominate The State
Being and coaching in northern VA, the only teams televised on major programming or big games down here are VT and PSU. And most of the time VT is prime time is on Thursday night. PSU has plenty of exposure down here regardless.
Look guys. You can't blame the UVA athletic department for cancelling the game. I'm sure they don't want to be seen as enabling pedophiles and further contributing to our culture problem.
