He will be a backup. Already confirmed. He has the chance to start if he outplays McNeil, and I'm sure Kiffin told him he'll probably start. But Silas will be a backup
I'm actually rooting FOR USC. Them winning the NC this year basically laughs at the NCAA, which I'm all about.
As for Redd, whatever. Silver lining time - if this gets us Lynch for 4 years we're probably better off long term.
Oh and what will We remember Giger for.
Peace out, Si. I won't waste another thought on you.
let's please not wish ill on the kid. It will make us look no better than the Pitt fan. We Are better than that. His heart wasn't all here so he transferred time to move on. I won't say you need to root for him but calling him a B**** and all that is just petty.
yea f usc i always hated them and after i went to the rose bowl in 2008 i hated them even more. Bunch of classless morons out there. I hope they never win another football game ever. Their fight song is stupid too! Hopefully meeting will ferrell and being in an awful city is worth it silas, have fun in your advertising program which doesnt exist in at SOcal, so much for keeping that promise to your mother.
Thinking he will be a backup is ridiculous, IMO.
I care about the ones who stayed ... I do think it's crappy he left the team when many looked to him as a leader.
Hodges said it well in his interview.
If winning was easy even losers would do it.
have fun splitting carries! Anyone who isnt upset about this is either lying or outright blind. This guy carried the offense and was our best offensive player by far. Obviously he showed his true character, guess he isnt Penn State material, especially since mostly every notable player stayed! unreal.
I really hope Curtis Dukes ( if he gets his grades up) and Bill Belton have terrific years
"This has obviously been a very busy, emotionally draining week for me and my family. As many of you know, playing football at Penn State has been a dream of mine since I was seven years old, and I will be forever grateful that this dream became a reality. This is the reason that the decision I have made is so difficult for me: I will transfer to USC to complete my education and my college football career, beginning in the 2012-2013 year. Penn State gave me a phenomenal opportunity to become part of a legendary football program. My teammates, my coaches – past and present – and the staff have provided me with a tremendous amount of guidance and support since I arrived on campus, and I can’t thank them enough for their time, their advice, and their friendship. They have given me such a strong foundation from which I can continue to grow.
The Penn State community – including the Nittany Lions’ unbelievable fan base – has also been a huge part of my incredible experience over the past two years. I have grown tremendously as a person and a player at Penn State, and the support of the community and our fans has been a big part of the reason why. I also want to extend my thanks to the media, who have embraced me and my family over my entire football career, even before I began at the college level. I think it is important to say that this situation is not something that I wished for myself, but it has happened, nonetheless. My family and I have spent many hours in recent days trying to decide what will be best for me as I look to the future – both personally and professionally.
We have weighed the pros and cons of staying at Penn State and leaving Penn State, attending USC and not attending USC, and I can honestly say that, ultimately, this decision is about so much more than football. I continue to have aspirations for my life, and as my family and I considered the bigger picture – both on and off the field – it became clearer to me that USC will be the best fit for my academic, athletic, and personal needs over the next two years. I look forward to future successes, and to the continued support of everyone around me.
Silas Redd Jr."
I won't cheer for Redd and won't cheer for USC. Just being honest
Redd once said how he promised his mom that he'd get his degree and that she wouldn't have to work by the time he's 21.
I'm not sure how he's gonna keep the first promise, as we all heard USC doesn't have his major. However I am sure USC will properly compensate the Redd family financially, to ensure he keeps the second promise as his 21st bday is coming up.
Better to weed out the weak now than to go to war with them.
BTW ... ironic that a school, whose football program actually did break rules, is allowed to raid our roster and steal players.
I hope Oregon can take care of that for you guys. Good luck this year I've always been a fan of Penn St.
So he says two years in that statement, so unless he's lying he plans on going all 4 in college. Also, that last paragraph is pretty much a huge kick in the nuts.

I wish him the best. It will be interesting to see how the RB playing time shakes out at USC. He would get 75% of the carries at a minimum here. He will get 50% of the carries as a maximum there.
As a side note, I hope someone punches Joe Schad in the mouth. He is so smug when it comes to PSU, he cannot wait for people to transfer.
I hope USC gets to the NC game the next two years and lose. That's the dose of medicine he needs. Get right to the cusp and have it slip away, just like his chance at greatness at PSU.
Must admitt I am disappointed. I understand wanting to win, but I thought he believed in doing things the right way. I do not wish him ill will, but I do not want USC to win now. I just can't believ he was charmed by Kiffin. How can a team with scholarship restriction reap on our misery. I will take the SEC over them this year. Roll Tide.
Not going to bash Silas on what was an incredibly difficult decision. But I will bash his pre-prepared press release... Dream to play at PSU since 7 but now USC is best fit for athletic, personal, and academic needs? Don't BS us Silas, it's all a football decision...

"Penn State has taken a lot of punches in the last six months and it's time to punch back" - BOB
The last paragraph basically says it all. More than football? Who is he trying to kid?
Stopped reading after the first sentence.
YOU had a hard, emotional week!? Really!?
Running home to daddy and yucking it up in LA with Lane Kiffin eating sushi and getting treated like a king by a bunch of strangers who don't give two sh^ts about you compared to your teammates at PSU is a tough, emotional week!?
Spare me that bullshit! Look Michael Zordich, Mike Mauti, Gerald Hodges, and the other 70+ who are staying in State College and had to deal with being harassed by coaches and media everywhere they went... Look them in the eye and tell then you had an "emotionally draining" week.
Give me a freaking break!

If his decision was really "about so much more than football" as he claimed, why is he going to USC, the number 1 ranked football team, instead of a school like Northwestern, Duke, or Vanderbilt? His decision was solely based on football, after all that's all that matters, right...?
I'm so pumped I just got a brand new Curt Warner jersey you guys!
Is it true they don't even offer his major there?
Meyer4Prez "This is wut happens when ur team site analyst are huge homers glad Bill K+Alex G keep it real instead of getting our hopes up."
You need help guy. It's not that serious.
