Just added $13M more on top of that ass-kicking. I say screw em. Let's go back to being an independent. We can schedule all over the country - BYU, Boise, Miami, ND, and go back to owning our own destiny....See how they like having absolutely no good school left to add to make it 12 again.
is it $13M per year or just $13M?
Regardless, assuming it's just $13M + 60M + 135M + 30M = $250M that PSU will pay out.
It's never just this or that....the punishment is severe, too severe IMO based on the outcome of the criminal trials and the department of education fines that are sure to come.
We'd love to play you.
Our conference crapped on us as well, but when they started to miss the money USC has brought into the conference for years....the tune has changed.
We won't forget it, you won't either.

3.25/year over 4 years.
Yes go back to independence. Then PSU & ND can play yearly. Like the good old days. PSU will survive either way. But sticking it to the B1G would be great. Why do you think ND would never join. You have to play second fiddle to UM & tO$U. NO THANKS!!
Feel Freeh to leave.
Do really wanna give up the $20+ million that PSU is still getting from the B1G right now?
Dominate The State
PSU leaving the BIG would do damage to that league. They wouldn't be able to have a title game in football; and they wouldn't be able to have a hockey conference. It's not like ND will bail them out. They ain't joining a league.
They wouldn't need ND, every team not in the SEC would be falling all over themselves to get into the B1G. They would do anything the B1G asked them to do including starting a hockey program.
Just stop. This move would completely destroy Psu. Research money. All sports. Any tv coverage for football.
All gone. To leave the conference would be suicide. It's idiotic to even think it let alone speak it. There are a whole laundry list of people/organizations to rage at. The big ten is way down that list.
But you want to spite them so they don't have a conference game? Don't be stupid.
Or the NCAA would grant a waiver and allow the B1G championship to continue with only 11 teams.
Are you going to leave the NCAA too?
We should, I am tired of feeding the low and mid level schools with the money generated. Then to have NCAA come in shit on us, yeah I say screw them. The NCAA needs the Penn States of the world to survive not the other way around.
“Never trust a government that doesn't trust its own citizens with guns.”
This is just insanity and anger talking.
Penn State has cost the Big Ten a lot more than $13 million. To have one of the premier programs disgraced in this manner causes great financial and reputational harm to the Big Ten. Penn State needs to take this punishment and start the process of creating a new identity for Penn State football. It's a shame that a selfish 80 year-old coach brought such harm to a great institution, but I hope Penn State can emerge stronger and better as they work to change the culture of the footballl program. Bill O'Brien seems like a quality hire and good recruiter, and all Penn Staters should get behind the basketball program the next 4 years, as Chambers is a really fine coach.
And you should go screw your mom.
Really. You think PSU has cost the Big Ten more than they have earned for the Big Ten?
You're an idiot if you think that.
If you stay in the B1G its the same as having a school that is not good, right? Kind of a wash for the B1G.
Penn State has been great for the Big Ten the last 20 years, but this scandal will have a real negative impact on the conference. The Penn State brand is crap right now. PSU can change that, but it will take time, and whining about the NCAA, Big Ten, ESPN, etc. won't help.
Just leave douche
I seriously laughed out loud at this. First time I laughed today.
Thank You!!! Seriously.
Didn't you bitch like anything when the NCAA handed sanctions to OSU after you broke actual rules in the book? I'll wait for your answer ...
Not every team qualifies ... there is an academic requirement associated with it. Florida State wouldn't qualify; NC State wouldn't; all the Big East wouldn't; every SEC school sans Vandy wouldn't qualify; Kansas wouldn't qualify, neither would Iowa State, ... the list goes on.
Dude, I hate the BIG. It has done nothing for PSU absent the research money. That said, I was showing if PSU decided to bolt, it would have an impact. The BIG would have to make some major changes. Not saying its going to happen, but saying if it did.
I think Ohio State got what they deserved, and I do think the NCAA is creating a very bad precedent. I would have preferred that they hit Penn State hard in the pocketbook and give them a two-year bowl ban. The scholarships make no sense, and punish the wrong people. It's impossible to compare the Ohio State case or any other case to this, given the gravity of the crimes and the shocking behavior by so many in leadership positions. This is really above the NCAA's pay grade. Penn State's punishment in the court of law and the court of opinon is severe enough in my opinion. I was only referring to the Big Ten and the $13 million. Clearly the NCAA is grandstanding.
What's more important to PSU? What the BIG has done for PSU with regards to research money or what they haven't done for PSU with regards to athletics?
