On the way in to SC this morning about 5 miles out. " you can't cover up 61 years of success with honor" I'm not sure how long it's been there but the first time I've seen it.
it was put up back during the football season... there are 3 or 4 others as well
I guess I missed it. I must have driven past it on 322 10 times since it has been up without noticing it.
I noticed it during the FB season. Glad it STILL up!
I've seen one or two of those signs along 322 East/West bound going to and from State College also.
"DOMINATE the state" - James Franklin 1/11/14
Yeah, but did you see the name below it showing who the quote is from? Dr. David Joyner. I chuckled when I first saw that....
I believe ps4rs put them up with a private donation.. There are others that specifically mention Louis Freeh and Dick Rod in Harrisburg.
Ok, I'll bite. There's a lot of anger with Dr. Joyner on the board. Here's what I actually know about him:
-He graduated from Penn State in '72
-According to bio, achieved all-american status in football (played for Joe) and wrestling
-Earned his M.D. at Penn State in '76 and became an orthopedic surgeon
-According to his bio, 11 members of his immediate family are Penn State alums
-Was a member of BOT that fired Joe
-Hired B'OB as athletic director
All I really know about his part in firing Joe is that he didn't fall on the sword for him. I don't know his opinion on the matter, but if he has said anything I'd love to know.
As for the speculation about B'OB having issues with Joyner, it's just that, speculation. We don't know. And while some people had issues with him over the coaching search, he did hire the best man out there so he did a good job in my book.
Is there anything we actually know about him that has caused the anger or is it just residual anger from him being a member of the BOT?
"You can take bowl games and you can take external things from people, but you can't take a warrior's heart."
Word was that Ira is responsible for the BO'B hire, Joyner happened to be AD at the time to nod and say, yes sir.
Being a member of the BOT at the time of the November nightmare does not ingratiate him on this board. The fact that the BOT put him in the AD spot has been an issue in that it appears that the BOT has their yes man in the AD position.
I have never met him but many seem to think he is an ass in person.
All the above rolled up, he isn't getting any love here.
