Sorry but I think that is wishful thinking with regards to ending everything after the 2014 season.
Dominate The State
This + Restoration of wins.

I think this is just as likely as any of the other scenarios. Especially if the Big Ten, Gene Smith, and the MSU President begin supporting their "friends"
The preliminary hearings could be very interesting next week. Especially if new evidence is presented that destroys the case against the big 3.
Also, very interesting that we did not hear any response to the Paul Kelly case today.....I had thought that NCAA owed a response today?
The only thing you would have gotten on the Kelly case was a "I don't comment on on-going legal matters," but i think they asked for and received an extension in regards to their response. I agree the upcoming trials have the chance to really help PSU but we won't know that until they are here. JMO but I do think the B1G is trying behind the scenes to help PSU but I have no way of knowing or proving that just pure speculation on my part.
Everything should go back to normal after this season they were wrong to start with.
Keep 60 million dollar fine, but spread out over 10 years. Penn State determines where it goes and provides the NCAA detailed account of where it went with no more than 30 percent going towards the Hershey Medical Center where the new child abuse program is being developed.
The Ncaa caves to public outcry.. That's what concerns me about any proposal.. The media will erupt over something as small as 1 scholarship. I fear they would rather piss off us then every other fan base. Hope I'm wrong
Success without honor is an unseasoned dish; it will satisfy your hunger, but it won't taste good.
Honestly I don't think there will be a huge media outcry. The media has mostly moved on at this point. Make the announcement during a busy news cycle and I bet that most people won't notice/care.
I'm saying a public outcry caused by the media
I don't see there being much of an outcry at all.
Regardless, I don't think there would be. I think enough people support reducing them that for every article out there against there will be one for. Also, outside of PA I don't think it'll get much attention from the local media. ESPN might talk about it but if you do it during a busy news cycle people will be more concerned with the NFL playoffs or some other sporting event.
When we consider the punitive damages, lets not forget that we lost a lot for 2 recruiting classes. In 2012, we had a top 10 class forming when we lost several (all the defections to Ohio St) when Sandusky was charged. In 2013, we had a top 10 class forming when we lost several top players after the sanctions were announced.
So when you consider sanctions, realize the above impact on recruiting & the impact the sanctions had to freely transfer & impact of the limitation on scholarships & impact of the bowl games
When Miami has to deal with the NCAA, they have never had to recruit knowing that an 2-3-4 year bowl ban was looming. recruits knew we aren't going to a bowl for 4 years yet they still came. Miami is arguing that because we gave up shit bowls for two years that should be enough. That impact is pittens compared to having to recruit & tell kids you will never go to a bowl while at PSU.
Bowl Ban - reduce from 4 to 3. While this is a big recruiting impact, it has decreased as a barrier b/c the bans are for the players currently here. Plus, the Ireland game sort of replaces a bowl game in some regards. So no bowls in 2012, 2013 & 2014 would be sufficient. Take into account, the Ireland game & we are missing a bowl game for 2 years.
Wins - dont care. neither do the Paternos. if the NCAA wants to keep the wins let them. It means nothing but to the historians. And when the history record is cleared, I'm sure Paterno's name will be cleared & they can reinstate them then. As for now, as part oft he negotiations, we could give them the wins if we get something more important - such as scholarships. That doesn't mean that I think we should stop fighting for the truth.
Scholarship limit: We needs to get this limit lifted all together. But for purposes of negotiations, you gotta give especially when the NCAA holds all the cards.
In 2013 - 65 (but the # should only be for kids participating on the football team, not those that took advantage of NCAA free transfer rule or free tuition rule)
2014 - 20/75
2015 - 20/80
2016 - 20/85
2017 - 25/85
With each class being limited to 20 per class until 2017 when the normal limits are in place.
We can tell the NCAA that kids that usually will graduate & continue to play will be forced to stop playing football due to the sanctions - which is true.
We can tie the reduction to something we know we will hit but that is still above the NCAA average such as graduation rate, and the George Mitchell report recommendations, which we will hit every time.
This is the year to do it & we do it after the season ends.
Likely during bowl season when the hype of bowl season & how important the season is to kids, universities, teams and income. I don't think we wait for next summer during a lull in NCAA football activity. Plus, it gives us an opportunity to recruit a few more kids before the feb signing day.
I thought at the time and still think this. If the ncaa was to punish penn state, why not use their success as the punishment?
For 5 years, 100% gate proceeds of 3 games/year to local children chapter.
First 2 bowls, 100% of bowl revenue to local child abuse chapter.
10 year probation
30 million dollar fine.
After the initial 5 years, 5 more gate proceeds to child abuse chapter and 2 more bowl proceeds to same chapter.
Essentiall this would have required the ncaa to think outside the box since all parties were gone and use the success of the program to help the fight against child abuse.
I propose to the ncaa that once all 119 freeh recommendations are in place and after another george mitchell report is completed a 5 year probation. I keep the fine, and another bowl ban year. But the 65 doesnt come into play and starting the 2014 season bowl eligible
I would be fine with all of this, but I'm not sure if the NCAA truly cares about where the fines go. If they did they would have thought out the fine a bit more than they did and also put a stipulation that any bowl money that would have been distributed to Penn State should go to charities/programs that fight abuse.

No annual limit.
Keep the fines, wasn't a poor decision in the grand scheme.
Maybe a year off the bowl ban, but that's less important than schollies really. If this isn't on the table, which I doubt it would be if this hypothetical table existed, wouldn't kill me really. Though we are apparently going undefeated in 2014 so that would suck if we missed out there.
Don't care about the former wins really. Didn't get why they were taking away, but really doesn't matter.
If we had to agree to keep the statue down to (which I think was in the negotiations) I would be fine with that too.
Oh no, the homers got you sippin the blue koolaid now too!!??
I would like to see everything reduced to just three years! Ideally everything gone after this season but that's not going to happen!
Everything gone after 2014 and Emmert has to be at the main gate on the opening day of the season kissing every fans ass and also admitting that he is a snake and a liar!
As long as you're going for grand slams, can you set me up with Eva Mendes?
Lmao I will do my best!
WE ARE! And we will always be...

PENN STATE FOREVER
Good idea but all of the Freeh Report recommendations will never be implemented because one of the recommendations is that the members of the BOT disclose their financial records.
Id be perfectly fine with 70-75 ships for a couple years. Yea it might make us a bit type in a position or two but hell, we competed with 75-80 scholarships anyway on some of the kids we wasted scholarships on in the last decade
Bowls dont matter. I dont think we will good enough to be in the playoff anyway so I can deal with. Fine, pay it, we can survive. Wins, i would like them back as this was my time at psu, but for the most part last year, the media seem to treat like we still won the games, just paterno didnt
And give us the wins back.
Everything totally dropped. As they were bogus and totally irreleva,t to the situation. I would not ask for reparations although I think we deserve them.
I care about the wins not because of paterno in the record boolks but for the players who for those years worked hard and had that work wiped clean. Think about it... Michael Robinsons kids will never seen his games on BTN.
Go to hell Emmert!
