Game today is covered by the BTN, just wanted to remind folks.
PSU and MSU were tied at 3 going into the third period last night, Lions went down 4-3 and then gave up an empty netter to lose 5-3.
Interested to see how they respond.
I'm very impressed with PSU. I recall discussions on message boards as far back as 2005 about PSU moving to D1 hockey. The Icers were dominating and casual observers suggested that PSU could be competitive in D1 immediately. There were a lot of guys who knew about college hockey that said, and for good reason, that it would take years to built a competitive team if they make the move. It was accepted that PSU would be a basement dweller for at least 4-5 years.
They aren't great in their first year, but they are absolutely competitive. With the brand new Pegula area and already impressive excitement about the program, they should settle in much sooner than 4 or 5 years.
conference affiliation, televised games and playing teams like MSU, UM, Wisc, and Minnesota every year should be attractive for a lot of recruits.. defn want to get up to see a game once the arena opens up..
Telecast just started, was delayed did to Iowa-Minnesota wrestling.
1-0 Michigan State with 15:40 to go in the first. Spartans goal came off a shot that deflected off Skoff's glove, kind of a softie.
Skoff looks off right now. Offensively getting some good looks though.
They need to put names on the back of the blue jerseys. They have the names on our home whites, but not on the road. We haven't been watching these guys enough to know the whole roster by #s. They should put names on both sets of unis at least until the fanbase has learned the team.
2 soft goals allowed by Skoff. We have looked competitive otherwise.
Freshman defenseman Mark Yanis scores in his home state to make it 2-1 MSU. Power play goal assisted by Max Gardiner.
I just started watching with the start of the second period and they look pretty good...I saw the PP goal, sweet!
However, it does seem weird seeing the Penn State logo on the front of a hockey player's jersey.
Maybe but I like the lion artwork on his headgear!
October 12, 2013. PSU 43 - UM 40 (4 OT). Unfortunately this fan wasn't around long enough to see it!
Bailey ties it up!
This is a very fun team to watch. This is Penn State's first game ever on BTN. You can say that you watched #1. I'm so happy for Penn State's future in hockey.

Holstrom finds the back of the net! 3-2 PSU
There's a possibility that my neighbors believe that I'm periodically being electrocuted. I'm a bit animated and loud when watching hockey.
"DOMINATE the state" - James Franklin 1/11/14
Power play with 1:47 remaining!
can close this game out on the PP> 1:47 left
Empty net. :57. Timeout by MSU. Faceoff in the MSU zone.
Ladies and gentlemen, you just viewed Penn State hockey's first win on BTN!!
That's 3-2 Penn State over Michigan State on the road!
Another big time program win! Fun game too. Can't wait for B1G play next season.
Man, I truthfully didnt think we'd be winning games like this BT game on the road against a traditional college hockey team.
"Whoever’s trying to kill me isn’t getting the job done. But one day, I’m going to punch that f___r in the face."
Flipped it on at the end..Great win.
is this the programs signature win so far?
considering it was on the road against a B1G foe, sure.
The best team we beat was the U.S. under-18 National team. Technically an exhibition win, though.
Watched it and recorded it.....watching it again! Great win for the program! VERY well coached team.
