Fired over the phone sounds good too.
I think it will depend what types of sanctions are handed down against Miami. If they get pounded, people will again be outraged but if the NCAA basically lets them get off with time served I don't think people will be as outraged and Emmert keeps his job.
Dominate The State
The day he has some facetime with phila.
The NCAA is screwed either way. I love it.
The Mountain West Conference bigwigs and Chronicle for Higher Education are calling for Emmert's resignation. The early March guesses are looking good.
From the twitter thread, pretty good read.
Former USC coach Pete Carroll says the NCAA justice system is 'just so out of whack. It's so obvious that it is. It's just a matter of, will somebody pursue it and go after it? This has been an institution that has operated under some level of respectable protection for so many years. That's not OK any more. They have to do something about it.
NCAA Executive Committee gives Emmert a vote of confidence...
Anyone hoping to see Mark Emmerts time as NCAA president come to an abrupt end as a result of the botched Miami investigation is going to be sorely disappointed.
The morons are circling the wagons. Hey, but they are the smartest people on the planet.
Very good read. Thanks. I'm still not holding my breath for anything significant to happen to emmert until some bigger, more powerful presidents and conferences speak out/take action. I like the current momentum though.
Unbelievable. Good ole boys network.
We need the courts or gov't. Start writing your state and federal congressman!!
Of course they did. They're responsible for him being there. Nobody likes to admit failure.
"I like your head, it's a good look." - James Franklin, to a bald reporter asking a question.
Petey Carrol comes through with some sound comments:
"Dubious methods in what has always been a murky process seems to have become a by-product of a broken system, not just evidence of it: "I think our case was a great illustration of that," said Carroll, "as is what is happening down in Miami. And the NCAA's rush to judgment that happened over at Penn State may have been as big a travesty as any of them. Not because of the incident itself but because of the way the NCAA handled it. Due process? The process with Penn State was terrible. Then you have this expedited process at Ohio State. How did that one possibly happen? It happened at Auburn. There are just so many questions. The inconsistencies and time frames are so varied it begs for concern. Why does (the NCAA justice system) operate like this? Why would our case take five years? And they got one guy?"

"Whoever’s trying to kill me isn’t getting the job done. But one day, I’m going to punch that f___r in the face."
I would like to change my original answer to within the next 2 weeks please. I can't believe they probably paid a boat load of money on this Miamai thing and only found Shapiro gave 170,000 over a 9 year period. That is only under 20,000 per year. The NCAA is once again proven to be a big fat joke.
I say we ask Emmert if he would mind if we hired former FBI Director Louis Freeh for 6.5 million dollars to do an internal investigation on The NCAA.
You also have to question now, how did the NCAA get the information about that $170k? If it was just by the word of a con man who has a documented vandeta against Miami....
It's funny , Bilas tweeted that he has been in Hawaii for his birthday. His birthday was in December.
Well you know if the con man said it twice it must be true...
Thought it would be appropriate to bump this thread with the recent news about Emmert: http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/ncaab/2013/04/02/ncaa-president-emmert-previous-cases-uconn-lsu/2047607/
I say to Dr Evil, "ask not for whom the bell tolls. It tolls for thee."
"You have to perform at a consistently higher level than others. That's the mark of a true professional." JVP
Should be tonight but won't be.
Hoping the NCAA executive committee uses the offseason to perform a critical review of their "leader."
