Agree with this. Nothing is worse than letting your good young prospect waste time on the bench.
Especially when Brown was a football player who played baseball because he was good at it in high school. There is no valid excuse for not getting Brown everyday at-bats in AAA once Victorino came off the DL in 2010. Set Brown's development back a year. At least.

That game right there is why Charlie is gone after this year. He's pinch run for a position player with a pitcher twice this year. Both times they were picked off. Where the heck was Mayberry or anyone that's used to running the bases? Also you pinch run for Howard with no outs in the eighth knowing full well if you get a rally going later you're going to rely on Michael Martinez?
How does Kendrick not argue that BS call.. Why do I see Delmon Young playing everyday? He cost us 2-3 runs today just with his defense..
So many things went wrong today. Phillies couldn't hit a guy with a 6.35 ERA. $6 million set-up man Mike Adams gives up a killer homer in the 8th. Manuel pinch runs for Howard with Martinez in the 8th down two runs. If they were down 1 run I'm fine with it, but you can't take your cleanup hitter out of the game down 2 runs in the eighth inning. So Martinez should have been available to run for Rollins in the 9th. It was an awful call against Kendrick and a perfect example of why replay needs to be expanded NOW, but Kendrick can't be that far off the base. Then again, he's a pitcher running the bases so what the hell does he know. And you have nobody to hit for Martinez unless you want to hit Quintero and put him at first base and Mayberry in right. Or Kratrz at 1B, Quintero behind the plate and Mayberry in RF.
Guy who covers Phillies for Delaware County Daily Times says Howard told Manuel pregame that his knee was pretty bad. Thought Howard would have sat if the ENTIRE STARTING INFIELD wasn't down. So that's on Ruben Amaro. You go a pitcher light for a few days and get another bench guy. How many times does he need to see a pitcher get picked off (and I know Kendrick wasn't out) before he realizes that?
Amaro watch a game situation and react appropriately? Best joke I've heard in a while.
Watching our Game 2 of today and just saw the pickoff call. Generally I love.when bad things happen with the Phils but that was just awful. Segura held it up with his bare freaking hand. Awful call by the umpire there.
If that's not a shining example of why baseball needs to expand instant replay ASAP I don't know what is
I don't want full replay. I want HRs, fair/foul rulings, and one or two challenges. At most. I prefer no replay over full replay in baseball.
That way they could've called Kraatz out at second when they blew that call.
Part of baseball, for better or worse.
Why should we have to go to class if we came here to play FOOTBALL, we ain't come to play SCHOOL, classes are POINTLESS
Oh, I'm with you. I don't want replay over everything. I'd be fine with a NFL style replay, using challenges and being rewarded for winning two challenges and getting a third.
I'd be fine with them going back and looking at that play. There are simply too many calls being missed to ignore replay expansion anymore. I'm not saying replay everything, but there has to be some kind of system that can be used and not slow the game to a crawl.
JMO here, but it'd take some gamesmanship out of the game.
Watching veterans work umpires is beautiful, and something I really enjoy seeing.
Oh I agree with you, but nothing is more important than getting the call right. I'd give up some gamesmanship to get more calls right (especially blatant ones like the one in the Phillies game today).
Another home run for Brown today and a triple. Halfway to the cycle in his first two at-bats with the hardest two out of the way.
so..... when is Dom Brown bobble head night? he is scorching... I always liked this kid
Success without honor is an unseasoned dish; it will satisfy your hunger, but it won't taste good.
Kyle Kendrick with the complete game W and picking up the Phillies on the offensive side too.
"DOMINATE the state" - James Franklin 1/11/14
There are alot of out of no where Brady Anderson power surges this year. HMMM ...
Was at the game tonite and he is quickly bringing the electricity back to the Bank.
I already called failed drug test on the last page...
You did? Sorry I didn't read it. You know the players I'm talking about, right? Something is going on.
A lot of people gave up on him. Some people wanted the Phillies to trade Brown for Alfonso Soriano straight up. Others wanted a platoon between Brown and Ruf in LF. Brown always had the talent. Phillies set him back by sitting in the MLB bench in 2010, Brown broke his hand in 2011 and he had knee and hamstring issues last year. Now you're seeing what he can do with a full-time spot and everyday at-bats. Sky is the limit.
Domo is the biggest Brady Anderson type season. His career high even through the minors was 15 hrs. At least Chris Davis put up 33 last year and has shown some pretty decent pop over his career. Domo's jumps off the page.
yeah but with Brady Anderson you saw a Vet make that kind of jump... with Dom its a young guy hitting his prime.
