Philly's goaltending will undo them again this year.
Pen's D and Sutter were upgrades.
Going to be long games if the refs waive out guys on every single face-off. Just drop the damn puck.
I don't think Philly has a good enough 3rd line to compete with the Penguin's 3rd line.
Malkin is the best player in the league.
I don't know if anybody was at the game yesterday, but I was. They had a pre-game video with a bunch of famous people saying stuff like "the flyers are back" and other things like that. Rendell, Nutter, and some other people made and appearance. Just though people would like to know that Corbett was also on it, looking like a scared scumbag who was desperately trying to get re-elected.
first hockey game huh?
Once Briere is back the lines a bit different
PENN STATE FOREVER
So after one game, bryz is terrible even though he was very good minus one shot. The flyers are not deep enough for the pens. The pens have improved in every area and geno is the best player in the world. No homer at all in that post. Btw bryz looks good again today through 15 shots against. Surprised you didn't also say flower looks world class in that yellow and black post.
Bryz can't be worse than last year. He was pretty good yesterday. I don't think the goal he allowed on Neal was as weak as people think. Neal has one of the best shots in the league in that given scenario. If Bryz gets injured, Philly is screwed. I think Philly's defense will undo them before its goaltending.
Sutter was pretty darn good yesterday. People got a chance to see what he brings to the table. Who on the Pittsburgh D was an upgrade? We didn't add anyone, unless you are suggesting Paul Martin awakened from his 1.5 year nap. He looked good. The upgrade was backup goalie. Glass will be a pain in the ass to the opposition.
Pittsburgh has to do something with Tangradi. He is worthless. A guy his size should be able to do something. I hope Vitale starts in his place tonight versus the Rags.
I am so tired of Tangradi...People keep holding out hope for him to improve, but the guy is a dud, even playing alongside Malkin.
"Whoever’s trying to kill me isn’t getting the job done. But one day, I’m going to punch that f___r in the face."
UGH.... Flyers are in a world of hurt... We play the Devils... Lost last 4... and the Rangers.... lost what?? last 10?
That is looking like 1-3 / 0-4... which is equal to 2-6 / 0-8 in a normal season.... That may end this thing before the first week. Awful effort, coaching, discipline, and just talent. AWFUL.
Flyers season over after two games. Rational...
The Defense is pretty bad though so far. Very slow.
Do you think we can beat NJD?? I think we got a shot... but We have not beat the Rangers in forever... This is a short season.... that is a big hole... We currently have the worst record in the NHL.
2 goals STOLEN today. This crew was a disgrace to the game... 2 GOALS!!!
This is pure stupidity.
Refs really dicked the flyers out of two goals. What a joke.

If the Pens win tonight we trail them by the equivalent of 7 points over an 82 game season.... That is tough man... This team looks lost.
Honestly what else can you say? just awful
Who cares? 8 teams make the playoffs and the nhl playoffs are the most unpredictable playoffs in sports. It's also not seven points. It's the equivalent of 4 points with 46 games left. That's what is important if for some reason you think the pens are the end all be all of competition, which is nonsensical in its own right.
What are you even talking about. They played one bad period yesterday and one had period today. The offense looks fine creating chances. They scored four times today and only two counted. The Defense looks bad for sure. That needs to turn around. Two games in 21 hours in different cities after a 6 day training camp is a tall task, and they failed. Basing major analysis off of those circumstances is idiotic.
Ha, Pens played 2 road games back to back and scored 8 goals - a taller task. Again, your goaltending will be the downfall - bank on it. With that defense, you need an above average goalie, and yours isn't. Good luck, maybe they will turn that around, but last time I checked, Briere (who you touting as the savior) doesn't play D or Goalie.
BTW, I am not a huge fan of Fleury. He makes great saves but lets softies in a lot. I like our 2nd goalie better than your #1 though.
MAF also loves leaving the puck bounce around right in front of him instead of jumping on it. I think Vokoun might be the biggest piece to our success this season as we can keep MAF fresh and have some solid backup play in the playoffs if we need to.
Malkin once again looked like the best player in the game, with Neal and Letang right there too. Crosby has been doing decent defensively, and has setup some nice scoring chances. Orpik is looking more and more like his old self now that he is pretty far out from his surgery last year. The team is playing well, but we also played well for most of last season until the end...I think the shortened season along with Vokoun might just put us in the SC finals.
We'll see, we are only 2 games in the season so far but have beat 2 teams that we will probably be contending for the Atlantic and even the Eastern Conference. I think the Devils take a step back.
Again, you were touting your team after one game. Only thing worst than touting them after two is doing it after one. I didn't mention briere anywhere in my post, so your comment to me is unwarranted. Bryz looked fine again. Saying he will be the downfall is crazy at this point. He could be, but he isn't right now and it's certainly not out of the question he will bounce back. All I'm telling you is to get off the homer bus two days into the season, it sounds ridiculous to any objective person. Just like phila basically saying to pack the season in is absurd.
Not an opinion, a fact. The Flyers have consistently lacked a top goalie. Bryz is not one either. But if you want to believe that he is, well ok.
Sorry, thought you made the Briere comment.
I am merely saying that if you had a great goalie, you would be tough to beat. Actually more of a compliment than anything else, but your myopia is getting the best of you again.
It is too short of a season to start off poorly.
Idiotic. 2/48 isn't a big deal. Assuming you're a pirates fan, imagine being two games out with 46 to play, it's not a big deal. Then factor in that 8/15 teams make the playoffs, and it's really not a big deal. Now if the first 8-10 games are really rough, that's a different story. Two games are not that important. Bryz was a top goalie the two years before he came to Philly. He had a horrendous start and a decent finish last year. Maybe he gets back there, maybe he doesn't. Writing him off after 60 minutes, where he played well, as you did is ridiculous. Sorry sir.
Philly's goalie isn't the weak link on that team this year, unless Leighton has to be relied on. It's the defense. That is the biggest question. Grant Fuhr would have average numbers with a defense like that.
Coburn, Grossman and an aging Timonen are the only competent blueliners on the roster now. Foster isn't good; Gervais is garbage; Schenn has sucked since his first year in the league and then you have Meszaros who is ok. That is why they went after Suter; that is why they tried to get Weber away from Nashville. I wouldn't be shocked if they are trying to get Slewbban from Montreal. Bryz wasn't good last year. He will or should be better this year. However, with that defense ...

Well first off, other than the last 2 years, once the Pirates were 2 games under, we were out of it (keep in mind that we still haven't finished over .500 since 92).
I am trying to explain to you that the Flyer's have a chance to lose the next 2 games. If they lose 2 more, well they could be in trouble in a 48 game season. There isn't time to re-shuffle line-ups, make the usual changes, try guys from the minors, evaluate players for trades, etc cause all teams are still in it. If you start out 4 games under 500 with half of a season left and play around .500 hockey even, you're out. Teams that shouldn't even make the play-offs will this year. It will be interesting for sure, but my original point is that they won't steal any games with Bryz in net. yeah, he will win his fair share because you score 4 or 5, but you better score that many if you want to win with him.
The defense needs to block more shots like the Rangers and Penguins do too.
