Who would you guys like to see PSU fill the open spot that Rutgers joining the B1G creates? Personally I would like to see a similar opponent at the level of UCF but in another talent rich state. Perhaps an SMU or a Houston to get a game in Texas in the future.
Dominate The State
SMU would be intriguing. Wake Forest?
"I like your head, it's a good look." - James Franklin, to a bald reporter asking a question.
That certainly would make a lot of sense.
I'm sure it had a lot to do with it. BOB always credits O'Leary as being a coaching influence.
So UVA to the B1G then?
Might have to make my way down to that game in 2014!!!! I will make a long weekend out of it. BOO YA!
I may need counseling before and after this game . My daughter graduated from UCF and I went to their games when not at PSU (about 4 a year). They will be a handful...good team and I believe much tougher than UVA.
They haven't been selling out Brighthouse but they will when we are there. It will be their biggest game since Texas opened there. With them going on campus and trying to establish a tradition, I would find it odd that they would go to that Citrus Bowl....what a toilet.
It's all about BOB's connection to O'Leary. The Fla exposure can't hurt but you're not gonna get kids to the game since it's in Sept other than maybe from the Tampa/Orlando area, which ain't bad pickin's. Wouldn't mind seein' some kids from the Belle Glade area come up but their academics aren't the best in that neck of the woods. Would think it'll be a large PSU following though, especially the alum club from Ft Lauderdale which looks for excuses to party.
Probably the home game against UVA fills that slot to finish the series.

Maybe there is wind where there is fire! Maybe they voluntarily dropped that game knowing that they'll make their way back on the schedule in 2014 as a conference opponent! There's been talks about this for months. Now, if that be the case, it gave Penn State a chance to schedule without having to do so in a rush if the game got dropped due to the conference switch. Who knows, but sounds somewhat logical to me!
It's pretty hard to tell what you're trying to say when you are using pronouns and aren't quoting the person to whom you are responding. Whose this "they" that you are referring to? Virginia?
If you're suggesting that Virginia already knows that they are coming to the Big Ten and will be a PSU opponent in 2014, that's absurd.
If by "they" you are referring to Rutgers, then that's a given. Our game with them in 2014 isn't going to happen as a non conference game. That game is already effectively cancelled. If we play Rutgers, it will be after the non-conference schedule.

Sorry, I thought I hit the quote box on that last post but apparently I hit reply. But anyways, yes I meant Virginia which I'm pretty sure you knew anyway. So what is so absurd about the thought of Virginia possibly knowing their fate already. You know as well as anyone else how quiet Delany keeps this expansion stuff. News didn't break on Maryland and Rutgers until he was ready for it to break. Who knows.?? Maybe Virginia doesn't know, but maybe they could have given up this game in the likelyhood that this was or is going to happen. Virginia loses a quality opponent but it also opens up a chance for an extra home game for them, so in my opinion, they don't lose a whole lot by this. If they are to become future conference foes, this move is good for both teams because it allows them to add a new game in new recruiting areas. I don't find the thought of Virginia possibly knowing their future very far out of the realm of possibility. Who knows, they may already have their seat at the table waiting on the B1G to select who their number 16 may be!
If their home stadium is so tiny they would have to move to citrus bowl, right? I was there for Clark win vs miles ans company in the downpours. Colin Wagner on the mud! Dude, I've been less wet in the pool
