Looks like UCF replaces Virginia on the schedule for 2013, and PSU travels to UCF in 2014. Florida is a nice destination in place of a bowl.
UCF will go on the road to play Penn State next season and then host the Nittany Lions the following season.

Based on the article's mention and the schedules, it appears that UCF will replace the UMass game in 2014.
Did we bail on Virginia or did they bail on us?
If true, for all the talk about O'brien wanting to weaken the non-conf games and rumors of scheduling URI, I actually think the schedule has been made tougher. I actually think UCF may be better than the current Virginia team unless some of UVA's young players get better quickly, and UCF is definitely a big improvement over UMass.
I believe the virginia home game will just be moved to another year if I am correct this happened with us and Bama
This game scares me more than UVA. I don't see this as a move to pad the schedule with the little sisters of the poor.
UCF is better than Virginia. This is a complete failure by the athletic department if they were trying to make the schedule easier.
Wonder if the 2014 game at UCF will keep the same date as UMass, or will they look to move toward the end of the season to get the players to Florida later in the fall would be nice...
I was hoping the return game could be in late Nov/early Dec and it was a deal with UCF to get the team to FL at the end of the season. EIther way, it is smart for recruiting to get a presense in Central FL.
I wish we were playing UVA next year for a payback....seems like that game has been doomed with us trying to get Rhode Island first and now locking in UCF.

This kind of stinks, was looking forward to seeing Penn State play UVA for some redemption factors. I understand the reasoning, but wish there was a different game they could replace. With that said UCF definitely could be a more difficult game than UVA this year
I wonder if this is part of an effort to gain more recruiting leverage in Florida. It's also probably a nice "bowl destination" type trip for the team in 2014.
Although, I really wanted PSU to play UVA, it will be nice to get some publicity in Florida for recruiting purposes.
Excellent. Nice road gamd for when the sanctions are erased. Plus i get to go see them down here im FL since they won't be in the outback anytime soon.
Really happy BOB and the athletic department were able to get a game somewhere warm like this. It sucks it couldn't be in November but at least it's a game in Florida. Really looking forward to this. It'll be a mid-seaosn bowl trip, at least probably for some fans.

YOWZA!!!!!!!!! A game I can DRIVE to and freeload at a friend's mansion in Sanford.
Nice destination, BUT in Sept. bring your sunscreen and ultralight clothes UNLESS it's a NITE game. Definitely an upgrade though. Thanks BOB and Mr. O'Leary. Hmmmm, BOB looking out past 2013?

I'll be at the 2014 game. It's only three hours from my house.
The UCF stadium only seats around 37k from what I recall so tix may be at a premium.
FWIW, UCF's depth chart from 2012.
Best name is the 345-pound DT Jose Jose.

IMO, this works in PSU's favor. They get exposure in Florida and a nice trip for the kids next year. PSU already got the exposure it wanted in Virginia last year so a home game against them doesn't really help right now. Plus it's a decent but not great opponent that PSU should probably beat.

Our 2014 schedule is likely to undergo additional changes...as Rutgers is now a conference opponent.
I wonder if part of the deal might be playing elsewhere in Orlando.
They played Missouri tough won most of their Conf USA games and lost to OSU 31-16. Not sure what they have returning - but will be a tough game.
Sweet!!! Looks like I'll be going to the 2014 game! Woo hoo!!!
UCF looks to be putting a pretty good OOC sched for 14 - Mizzou, BYU and PSU. R they expecting to have a pretty good team that year?
Only 1 hour from my house!!!!!! YEAH!!! I'm stoked.
Have to wonder how much O'Brien's connection to O'Leary caused this to happen. Obviously UCF is no pushover, so they're not scheduling just for wins.
