Frank Bodini and his one sentence paragraphs is reporting that we're gonna reschedule the Virginia game to take on pathetic Rhode Island this year. I would rather get revenge on Virginia this year than have to wait two or three years for it.
What say you?
I have heard that this was in the works.
Get used to this kind of scheduling until the sanctions are over.

F the BOT
That would be very, very disappointing, and not at all what I would expect from Obie. This might make sense if it was Alabama on my the schedule, but Virginia??? That's a "w" unless something goes horribly wrong like it did this year. Makes no sense.
From what I heard, it was VA that wanted out not PSU???
It makes sense that this would be the case. UVA has a lot more to lose in this game. If they lose to a "crippled" program, it hurts their image as competitive even further.
"PSU a 3 to 4 win team" - New-era, September 2012
is Rhode Island 1A or 1AA? nevermind see the article 1AA.
who knows some of the thinking could be to play younger players to get ready for big ten depth as well as resting starters.....concern is the level of game and fans you attract.

Think about things for a second folks ... Alabama did the same thing to PSU when it was on probation - asked to delay the game a few years. Its been done before. There is nothing weird about this.

If I'm correct then it will be the first game in Beaver of the season as we're playing Syracuse out here in Jersey. I'm sure we'll get a decent crowd.
It would have to be VA that wants out. Why would PSU want out? They already fulfilled their half of the home and home and this years game is at home and is the "marquee" out of conference game. No way PSU would voluntarily give that up for RI. As for PSU there is no way I'm letting VA out of this game unless they scratch a HUGE check. Common Joyner don't be a puss, be a man with some balls and tell UVA they're coming up here in september to get an ass whoopin.
If that's the case, that is BS especially since they benefited from PSU filling their stadium last year. UVA isn't a powerhouse by any means, but i'm sure Beaver Stadium will fill more with the Cavs on the sidelines as opposed to the Rams.. Joyner doesn't "get it" if his only replacement is RI, it's going to hurt ticket sales big time that your marquee OOC home game is Kent State.
Maybe uva will be a conference game soon? Can't play a team twice.
Joyner = a man with balls?
I agree. It would seem we were taken advantage of. Having played in VA, they were able to fill the stands knowing that Virginia has a very strong PSU alumni base. To play Devil's Advocate though...
It could have been like Hamilton says. They may have wanted to push the series last year as well, but did not want to force us to find a new matchup on such short notice post sanctions.
UVA should come up here and take their beating like a man!
yeah but PSU has no reason to drop this game. It's a very winnable game for us. And it's our home game; why would we drop that money?
It's just weird.
wrong, its Syracuse, then Eastern Michigan, then Rhode Island in place of Vriginia
As a season ticket holder ... this blows. UVA isn't the reason we get tickets, but its an in-demand game. RI? I don't care how big a check UVA writes to get out of it. It blows.
Got it. Thanks for the correct. I prefaced it because I was on my phone, and knew there was a distinct possibility I could be wrong.
This. Give me 4 wins over the sisters of the poor every year were on sanctions. Record will be all idiots who don't follow us will look at.
Also, would you have rather been 10-2 with extra wins over terrible teams last year or 8-4?
i wish it was b/c you are right if it was the first game.......we would be ok, but people will go to Eastern Michigan and attendance will be very low for Rhode Island.
For all of us recruiting guys - it will be a good chance to see all of the 2nd and 3rd stringers.
So I already know I can't go to the Michigan game next season because of a family wedding, and now this. Some home schedule we're looking at if this is true. If it happens, I'd love to find out the real reason behind it. Either way, I fail to see how this draws any kind of a crowd. Unless that is the goal, line up a game that draws 90,000 announced attendance and thus helps to support the football de-emphasis goal of Egghead Erickson. Hoping this turns out to be unfounded.

Ouch. Fall weddings strike again.

Just wondering, anyone know if hotel rates are better when the competition is poor?

This relegates the game to BTN instead of ESPN or ABC. Less money all around. Cheers.
