Eh. I guess so... But he has never coached anything but DL... His resume is on his profile... One positive is that he recruits Florida... And he's relatively young in his early 40s
WE ARE! And we will always be...
I hear ya. I would love to get a big name DB coach, but if Butler is going to coach CBs then I am not sure if getting a high profile guy is possible. Is there such a thing as a "sexy" safety coach?
That said, this is a good place for a coach who can focus a ton on recruiting with Butler and Ethridge already there. Bonus if he can be LJs successor.
Im just saying man, this seems like a time where coaching is very important... It concerns me that he has never- in all of his 16 years- coached DBs... A younger Joe Judge could recruit at the same level and has actually coached DBs... And studied under one of the best in Saban...

True, but if all we are offering is a shot at coaching Safeties then that wouldn't be tasty enough to leave Patriots. I would love Judge.
In the end BOB knows what he is doing and I trust him.
Very true. When I heard Butler was going to coach the CBs too, I didn't like that... But then again, players love him and hes a hard worker... I just dont want him to over-work himself. He's never play called before, and he's still going to coach a position... Tall order. I'd rather target a young up and comer like Judge or a vet that is about ready to retire. A guy thats never coached DBs at ANY level just doesnt make sense to me... I will hope for Judge and Butler to focus on DC. But, who knows.
Can't read the post but there are two posts that say Former BC Coach Jeff Commisiong to Penn State from the BC rivals board
He has some experience being a recruiting coordinator....I wonder if he will coach safeties and Butler coach corners and eventually maybe Jeff takes over for the DL after LJ retires?
Complete football, basketball, baseball and recruiting coverage and breaking news of the Boston College Eagles.
Interesting, starting to be some real smoke around him.
Once again the 247 board>>>>>> lol You heard it here first folks!
started to think the connection could be that Commisiong coached at Harvard the same time Fitzy was there....
Or....maybe even more importantly is he was the DL coach when John Butler was the LB coach at Harvard in 2006. It's only one year together but there certainly is a connection.
You make too much sense Blissios. Not to mention some of your posts further down. One other connection people are overlooking, the BC guy coached there for Frank Spaziani, a PSU grad, who may or may not have some input here. No doubt the connection would start elsewhere, but Spaz would be a solid endorsement.
True - i just don't think (hope) LJ is retiring in a year or two.....I also think the next hire will have recruiting connections which is what BOB must be thinking
According to Tom McA on BWI Comissiong is not a candidate and not one of the names he has heard. I guess we'll find out eventually.
Who is Tom McA?
Well Commisiong has connections in Maine, Boston and the NE... Not sure you want to go there with a force... But he did recruit FL some. It's BC though... Didn't win many battles...
Tom McAndrews. Mod on rivals.com
And the names that he's heard are???
Sorry... He didn't say. We'll find out soon eventually, but Comissiong not being the guy wouldn't shock me because it doesn't make a ton of sense. I don't think it's a bad move by any means but I won't be shocked when we find out he's not the guy.
