in Brian De Palma movie about Sandusky scandal
Film legend Al Pacino is reported to be playing the role of Joe Paterno in a movie about the Jerry Sandusky scandal at Penn State, according to Deadline.com.
October 12, 2013. PSU 43 - UM 40 (4 OT). Unfortunately this fan wasn't around long enough to see it!
Can't say i'm excited about this
I was under the understanding that it will be based on the book "Paterno" and would be more of a documentary of his life? Perhaps I am nieve?
Dominate The State
I have one upvote left, and I am not afraid to use it!!!
Obligatory reference anytime there is discussion on Pacino. Well done. :-)
I heard Amy Adams is playing SuePa *im bein sarcastic*.........have a terrible feeling about this movie
Isn't the Scarface director doing this??? I am going caricature and it will make Joe look evil.
PENN STATE FOREVER
Word is carrot top will be playing mike.
De Palma also did Carlito's Way with Al Pacino.
JoePa snortin' coke makin' @evilbillobrian look like an angel. I'm not likin' this either.
I just have this vision of MM coming to him to describe rape... then having Joe call PSU brass to cover it up as a it happened again.... innuendo that everyone knows..... Joe being this tyrant and saying things that are not real... then being 2 faced any positive on the outside.
Pretty sure this was reported six months ago??
Yeah, this definitely wasn't the first time I've heard Al Pacino to play Joe Pa. Maybe it's just definite now.
This is suppose to be based off Joe's Biography so it shall be interesting to see how the movie ends up.
Pacino's involvement was reported when ICM was working the deal back in September. De Palma's involvement, financing and screenwriter is new info.
If and its a huge if they go by the book it can't possibly portray Paterno as a monster but as a guy who really didn't understand completely what was being said.
It will really come down to the screen play and who writes the script.
You don't have to read more than the first chapter to realize where the book is coming from.
You are correct. This is pretty old news. If it wasn't finalized, it was definitely being reported as a possibility back in the Summer/Fall, with Pacinos named attached.
BacardiBuckeye: "But in all honesty I like Penn State, I want to see Penn State do good that's why I check this board everyday." 4/2/14
I want to play the Nittany Lion!!!
Yeah, the "old news" was Pacino's attachment to the project.
Attaching a director (De Palma) and negotiations with a screenwriter (David McKenna, who wrote "American History X" has been approached) signals some movement in the project, which is why it's getting some new press right now.
I'm actually hopeful that, while the press/marketing may be a bit sensational, the film will take a balanced approach. There's an opportunity here to create a film that challenges it's audience to see the whole picture...the good and the bad.
