You'd be surprised how much more OB is looking into grades and character, according to a source. It is not a coincidence we are touting how mature and great our current commits are.
It might just be for the time being under the microscope but its happening.
"Whoever’s trying to kill me isn’t getting the job done. But one day, I’m going to punch that f___r in the face."
While BWare is a solid argument, Paul Jones is absolutely BUNK. While he has struggled while at Penn State he was a good enough student to graduate early from HS and enroll here. Academic risks don't enroll early, sorry.
If you've ever heard Paul Jones speak about anything other than football you'd realize the public school system failed him miserably.

Why should we have to go to class if we came here to play FOOTBALL, we ain't come to play SCHOOL, classes are POINTLESS
Probably, but kids that have the transcripts that would allow them to graduate early still are not academic risks. You can only go off of what the facts are and not guess. If you can graduateearly, you're doing something right. Unfortunately, for PJ it did't seem to mean much once he got here.
He was lazy. He has since rectified that and is doing pretty well in school.
WE ARE! And we will always be...
I don't think that was part of the discussion.
Well our school must be failing too then, because he got good grades last semester... He will be fine going forward. He is doing great in school.
And now you take another leap in the discussion assuming where I was going. Sweet, time toleave this thread for awhile until you're done blindly defending PJ and ruining discussion.
Tex, I feel what you're saying. Just saying you can't use his struggles in hindsight.
Tex said if you heard PJ talk about anything other than football you can tell that the public school system failed him. I dont agree with that. There have been like 3 stories written about how he was lazy, depressed, and played PS3 instead of doing work... He has since rectified that and been doing very well. You said he wasn't an academic risk because he graduated early. I agree with you. I don't think he is an academic risk at all. His problems were documented, he admitted that he just wasnt doing homework. He has since done everything asked of him and done great in school... I don't understand why you are so defensive or saying that Im going on some tangent? If he got good grades, how is he an academic risk? Simple question, but I guess leave the thread and flip out on me. Cool. How can I ruin the discussion if you are the one bowing out?

Simple, we never mentioned his current standing. The discussion was him as an academic prospect.
Also, because he's passing basic gen ed courses doesn't mean jack. Not that I have any more than the obvious reason to doubt PJ will not get better, he has never made an excuse about the situation, and I higly doubt we see him in trouble again. But I know plenty of kids that have graduated from colleges, especially athletes, and from better Universities than PSU, that I would not identify as intelligent.
So in short, you talked about current standing, which was not what we were addressing, and of course you followed your typical path of discussion.
Back to other teams' recruiting efforts. Thanks.
Doesn't an academic risk mean that you will not be successful in the future? He has been successful... Pretty logical to me. And there is no need to have a stank ass attitude man. You guys are the ones that weren't talking about other teams recruiting efforts. There is a lot of that. This entire page is not about other teams. I added 3 posts to it. Thanks.
He has been successful? I don't think even PJ's mom would say that. He redshirted to get his grades in order and missed one full season due to his grades after that. He is on the right track now, but he has been far from successful up to this point. What a crock of excuse-making bullshit. Thank God PJ has a better attitude, and never made an excuse. I have no doubt he'll be good to go for the nxt couple of years.
You guys have never met a thread you didn't want to hijack. Don't mind cuz I'm gaining perspective and appreciate what comes from it, but geez, if we started a thread about boxers or briefs you'd be at odds I'm sure.
He is successful now. He had problems. He owned them and fixed it. I am not making excuses. He said he messed up and he knows he did. How is that me making excuses for him in any way? Calm your ass down. You just said that he good going forward. I agree with that. I think its pretty obvious what the problem was, and he fixed it. I am very confident in the kid. Sorry, but hes an awesome kid. Im done though. You just love to argue and Im done with this garbage.
I sometimes love to argue, but always love intelligent conversation with intelligent people. I was doing so with Tex. You skewed the conversation to what PJ has done here which had no standing in what we were talking about. I have told you that. Idc if he's a good kid or not (which I believe he is, has handled himself well since he was a prospect), it wasn't what we were talking about.
You're the one who kept me in the conversation when tried to recuse myself from the conversation, for obvious reasons. No one to blame but yourself for the reaction that was given.
I guess VH3 didn't keep USC at the top of his list very long.
5-Star CB Vernon Hargreaves III had a tough decision to make when he narrowed his list to a top 5.
Good write up on Jonathan Cook. Ole Miss is making moves with him...
Grenada wide receiver Trey Bledsoe committed to Ole Miss on Friday morning prior to its Elite camp but was he one of the top ten performers at the event? We break it down.
Marcus Ball planning on visiting Mich State and he mentions us in his top 5...
One of the top uncommitted prospects in the state of Ohio says he is planning to make an official visit to Michigan State.
After SC got Jalen Ramsey, they were done with Hargraves. Ramsey and Hawkins are a helluva combo...

REAlly? and how is your recruiting class looking? last time I checked ours was ranked a little higher than you guys, sure we have missed out on a few, but im sure urbs will get a few more to flip this year.
WTF are you talking about? Who here talked mess on your class? You have a good class and so do we
Stupid buckeye is stupid.
another idiot Buckeye poster here ... big shocker.
wow, great comebacks here by some psu fans here, first of all you might want to talk to the original psu poster talking crap about how bad our class looks, and oh hey guys, look urbs lost out on another one? so th only thing shocking is dumb your posters are, with no sense of reality.
