I found this story on Poquie, it talks about his journey (and another kid) out of Liberia. A quote from:
"I've grown up being tough, just hanging in there," said the 5-foot-10, 175-pound Poquie. "Football resembles the same lifestyle. . . . I fell in love with it because of its toughness."
With his leg sunken in a whirlpool in the training room, Melvin Snoh was getting the kind of treatment on his bruised heel that professional and college athletes enjoy. An athletic trainer then
Southern Lehigh OL Andrew Terlingo to run-on. Saw this on twitter from The Morning Call
YES! I was wondering about him... Asked about him like 3 times... Glad to hear this. I want that Jersey Shore Interior Lineman too...
WE ARE! And we will always be...
Watch Andrew Terlingo, and 50 other videos.
its crazy how many run-ons can we take, i think we have about 21 or 22 by my count.
It's even crazier how some of them are actually legit prospects that could make an impact for us down the road.

Plonski is heading to mercyhurst per twitter
BOOOOOOOO. I was really hoping of him... Best of luck to him, but I think he's making a mistake. That sucks...
What makes you think that?
This isn't an attack at you individually, but the consensus on this board is, everytime someone doesn't commit here or deccommits they are making a mistake. Only they themselves can make that determination.
It may not be... He will be going to school for free? Maybe a partial. I dont know much about Mercyhurst's football/scholarship situation. But he is one of the kids that I think is under the radar and could play at a high level when working with Fitz/Vandy... I think he is one that could actually see some PT here in his career... But you are right, he could be making a good decision to go to school for cheaper... That's possible, but I just dont agree... I just think he has the chance to actually play. And it goes without saying obviously PSU > Mercyhurst. If he were going to a MAC school or something, maybe... Unless it's financial (which I would certainly understand), I think it's a mistake. But I do hear you... I just dont agree because I think he has a chance...

Rmj, I think its better wording to say you don't agree rather than say he is making a mistake so I hear ya. As I said this wasn't going at you, I just don't like it when I see people saying that about a 17/18 year old kid, when in reality, we probably know very little about the kids situation especially as a run on.
Probably harsh words that could be said better. You're right about that. But I took like 15 seconds to write it... Im not drafting a legal document. Im taking a little bit of time to write on a message board... It was the first thing that popped into my head and it got posted. I hear you, but I also think that people jump down people's throats a lil too much... Its a message board. Not coming at you either in any way, or even specifically saying that you did that at all. You didnt. Im just making a general observation about how some people react on here.

I know I'm nagging on you, but this post just proves why NOT posting is sometimes better than posting.

Kuddos to that kid for busting his ass and probably getting a full ride. IDK. I know everyone on here lives and dies PSU but know that I'm hitting a point in my life where managing my families debt and student loans are a big part of life and I would advise anyone to take the free money. Playing for PSU would be a dream but I think a free education is much more valuable. Just my 2 cents though. I love the kids that take the chance and walk on but I will never criticize a kid for taking scholarship money over coming here. Look at Bryton Barr. No doubt he could have walked on and played here but he went to Towson and played as a true freshmen. He has the opportunity to be a 4 year FCS starter and a legit shot at the NFL is still there. He 100% made the right decision.
Haven't seen that. Where on Twitter did you find that?
This is all I have seen:
Jake Plonski @PSizzle18
@Reznor_23 mercyhurst in Erie!
Thanks Mel, yeah that's all I saw too. I'm not sure that is what he is saying there. I hope not anyway. He is speaking to Rezner, it could be that he has commiitted to Mercyhurst and Jake is excited for him.
Great for Mercyhurst!.... where I went, many great times / great friends, met my wife, etc. But not a cheap place... and a full ride = better in the wallet than $ 6 figures of debt. So depending on his circumstances, I can surely understand.
I'm more than amazed and appreciative of the "sacrifice" that these run-on's make... I would hope many of them have good scholarship money for other reasons than athletic scholarships... cause a chance to play for Penn State.... I'd have a hard time passing that up.
Kudo's to all in the run-on thread regardless of their choices.
I think a lot of this year's run ons have a good chance of getting a scholarship for at least a year once the sanctions end and we are still working on refilling roster with scholarship players
I would be 100% shocked if he got a FULL RIDE from Mercyhurst. Isn't The Hurst like 35,000 per year? I believe somehow you could look up the following:
Cost of Mercyhurst per year.
Number of Scholarships Mercyhurst has.
Then do the math on a kid who will play LB and figure it out.
I will say maybe a partial and some grants, academic schollies, etc to cut down the cost but no way a full football only ride.
The maximum number of scholarships for a PSAC school is 36 for a football team but not all schools give 36. And Mercyhurst being a private school pretty much is guaranteed to hit the 36 limit. So yeah I bet this kid got a full ride.
Awesome!!! Nebraska has thrived for years on this concept. Nothing like a bunch of hungry young men with a something -to- prove attitude. Welcome aboard young men, or should I say young warriors!!!!
Derek Yoder, who was thought of as a potential run on OL, is going to Millersville apparently.
"Penn State has taken a lot of punches in the last six months and it's time to punch back" - BOB
I have a friend who plays for Mercyhurst and he gets a little more than half his tuition covered. I honestly don't know if anyone else on the team gets a full ride but TIFWIW.
It's simple really. Even if you only take 12 credits a semester and only go for the Fall and Spring semesters, you are looking at 16k at PSU. Chances are, he would take more than that. So if his scholarship at Mercyhurst covers more than 20k (probably even less than that), he is making a smart choice.
