I looked at the roster from the fall and took away all the players that graduated/moved on, etc......and was around 31 - take the 17 scholarship players it leaves 14. I assume the fall roster had a compliment of 105 players.
Re Garrity, how does this kid not have at least a Temple or Delaware-type offer? Did I miss something? He definitely reminds me of a Jordan Norwood-type receiver, like another poster said.
He might not be 4.4, but who cares, he's a prototypical slot receiver, which is basically a starter-level position for most offenses now.
Arguably, when listing the traditional 11 "starters" that number should be expanded to 13. The base package is generally 10 players: QB, 5 OL, TE, 2 WRs, and a RB, with that 11th player varying based on the package: Another TE, another WR, and a FB. That's 13 offensive "starters."
Several of these walk-ons are going to make significant, if not huge, impacts in the coming years. Garrity is my pick to be one of those players. He's a much more natural slot receiver with phone-booth quickness, and he's effortless in catching the ball away from his body (thanks to his Dad in some part I'm sure)--something so few "athletes" who are converted to WR never learn. For example, Alex Kenney is a ridiculous athlete but he's still a work in progress as a slot receiver.
Huge pick up, welcome Gregg!
Because he weighs less than moo moo
Norwood was the same way. I'm not saying Gregg's ready for the field this fall, but a year of physical maturity, college meal plans, and a year with Fitz in the weight room and he'll be up to an acceptable weight I'm sure.
I just can't believe that Temple, Delaware, or a Youngstown State wouldn't take a chance on him.
Oh well, I'm more than happy to have Gregg run-on!!!
I'm not saying I disagree with you. JMO on why he doesn't have offer. Probably the same reason a lot of these guys don't have offers, too short, a step slow.
Thanks, I looked at the 247 roster page which only has 86 players and just a few of them are RO's. Many more on the official roster. Makes much more sense now.
Kids film is on hudl.Hard to see anything from my phone.

Add another one to the list, Brock Baranowski teammate of Chiappialle, says he will walk on too according to this article. Might be under the radar since he was injured senior year
"I set a goal a long time ago and the only thing I could ever see myself doing is to run through that tunnel," Tomasetti said Wednesday afternoon. "Going to Penn State games, I loved the place. Then I went on my visit and I got to see how great the coaches, the players and the facilities are.
"I like your head, it's a good look." - James Franklin, to a bald reporter asking a question.
Bumping this - i wonder if some of these articles or tweets about players like Barankowski could be premature and they possibly aren't officially guaranteed a run-on spot.
I'll wait for confirmation on this one other than that one article.
Well couldn't some of these players choose to run-on on their own, but not end up making the roster? So just be normal walk-ons, not preferred?
Edit: Oops. I should've read the article first since it says they'll both be preferred. But the question still stands. Just not applied to these specific players.

I guess but then you are choosing a school knowing you want to play football and you get there and there is no guarantee you even get to practice.
Add Carter Henderson
Ryan Snyder @BWISnyder
Linebacker Carter Henderson (@hendydo25) just committed to run-on at #PennState.
Beat you to it Mel, ha.

WE ARE! And we will always be...
Kyle Searfoos is from Red Land HS in Lewisberry ,PA not Red Lion
Really like this pick-up.
Yea, I watched his film. It almost looked like he was blitzing on every play.
So are we done? Any more run ons or recuits for 2013 on the horizon?
If Ryan Herr gets admitted to main campus he will run on. I thought 20 was towards the high end of run-on's we could take so we are getting close. I'd like to add another LB and a lineman in addition to Herr. We'll probably have a few more run on's but the 2013 class is pretty much done.
