So my PS3 died on me last week so I decided to pick a new slim version up today. Everywhere I looked, the cheapest you could find it was for $269 bundled with Uncharted 3. I went to Target in State College set to pick that up when I noticed that they STILL had the Black Friday bundle (Infamous, Infamous 2, Uncharted and Uncharted 2 plus the PS3) for $199! It's pretty unbelievable that this bundle got all the way through Christmas and was still on the shelf.
There is still at least one available if anyone is wondering.
Consol gaming has been hurting.... It's not cheap and a lot of games suck
PENN STATE FOREVER
Uncharted series is probably the best game I have ever played.
I sold my ancient PS3 'Fat' for $190 a few weeks ago on eBay. The nostalgia market is healthy based on my experience. PS4 is apparently on its way for the next Black Friday so the Slims may be starving for attention.
I enjoy my PS3 but game prices kill me. Usually just end up with Madden anyway.

Good news for me ... If mine bites the dust.
I rationalize my game purchases based on hours played. If I play a game 30 hours that's two bucks an hour for entertainment. I can't get that cheap entertainment much of anywhere else.
If winning was easy even losers would do it.
You stole that kid's money, lol. Fats are a problem because they can break at any time.
The nostalgia market definitely is strong. I know a few people who bought more than 1 PS2.

Actually the fats are the best edition...especially the really early ones...
The big reason? They can play PS2 games.
Sony will buy them back from you...they got sued for making them.

This generation have been around for 7 years, one of the longest generations. They are dying. The new ones are on their way like mentioned by someone else.
I have one upvote left, and I am not afraid to use it!!!
Consoles are just NCAA and netflix machines at this point.
Steam + PCs = gaming bliss
I hear that, only games I buy new anymore are sports games because it keeps the rosters updated! Can't even play a 2 year old sports game online anymore, EA sports cancels the server. Sports games I suffer through the high prices, everything else can be bought used, haha
I have an early one that still plays PS2 games. Its fun every once in awhile to pop in an old game. Actually my favorite NFL game ever is ESPN NFL 2K5 with TO on the front (sorry madden). Great gameplay, was pretty disappointed when EA bought all NFL gaming rights.
Anyway, only broke once, but have a guy that fixed it as a hobby (just had to buy parts, maybe $40-$50). Still running strong though after all these years.
Will they really buy them back? How did they get sued?
Yeah, I've had mine since they first came out. It's still going strong and will last me until I have to decide if I want to get a PS4. I loved that the original plays the PS2 games.
Yes, Sony will buy them back. It has been awhile since I researched it...but my buddy traded his (broken) fat in for a slim and got a few games for free from Sony. I don't remember the details...but I guess game manufacturers got mad at Sony or something. The old fats are backwards compatible, are easier to mod (Linux), and they have more USB ports. Ride that thing as long as you can...
I'll have to look into that because my launch-era 60GB just died on me after I blew the dust out of it (wtf?!). I might be effed on that though since I broke the warranty seal to see what tools I needed to open her up. I'm going to try to do the heat gun fix to get it working again.
I hope I can make it last until the xbox298370 or ps4 comes out. I miss having a blu-ray player :(
edit: Apparently there was a program to trade in your bricked 60/20 gig model for a 120 gig slim for $100.

I haven't played any PS3 game I own since August. I ran through a few dynasties, both online and vs. CPU, after the game came out in mid-July but haven't touched it since. It's just sitting there all purty getting some use as a Blu-ray player.

Yes, the price was incredible on my side, especially when considering that the unit didn't feature reverse compatibility. Don West, the #1 all-time, late-night salesman of knives and baseball cards, inspired my properly-staged and eye-catching eBay listings.
