In the end, too much quality. 2 quality chances, 2 goals this half. 3-0 now.
Marchisio's goal was awesome play.
Feel bad for Celtic. Put in a great effort but now they are all but out of the CL.
In the other game I see that Valencia is staying alive! From what I've heard they were outplayed but poked one in at the end which should go a long way in keep their hopes alive. Plus Ibra is out for the next leg. You never know now.

Eh, PSG should go thru regardless of no Ibra. They have plenty of attacking prowess w Lucas, Pastore, and Lavezzi. Plus, they're very tight defensively at home. I don't see Valencia to get 2 away goals. Better for Ibra to miss this than the 1st leg of QFs. Can't wait for tmw!
I was rooting for them this year in the CL.
Never want to say never, but its not looking good at all for them now.
Why should we have to go to class if we came here to play FOOTBALL, we ain't come to play SCHOOL, classes are POINTLESS
All of you Premier League fans of teams not named Manchester United...you are all Real Madrid fans with me tomorrow, right? Hala Madrid!
Sure, and then Hala Jose back to his home at Stamford Bridge.

After La Decima, you can have your "daddy" back:
From the blog Dirty Tackle: When Michael Essien joined Real Madrid on loan from Chelsea just before the summer transfer window shut, he was very happy to be reunited with manager Jose Mourinho. So happy, in fact, that he repeatedly and gleefully called Mourinho … Continue reading →
I thought I read an interview somewhere in which JoMo stated that the only person on earth he trusts more than Essien is his wife. It's a little bit of a bromance.
Last post for a while. Attacking lineup from both sides. No Vidic.
De Gea, Rafael, Ferdinand, Evans, Evra, Jones, Kagawa, Carrick, Welbeck, Rooney, Van Persie.
Subs: Lindegaard, Smalling, Valencia, Anderson, Giggs, Cleverley, Hernandez.
Diego López; Arbeloa, Varane, Ramos, Coentrão; Xabi Alonso, Khedira, Özil, Di María, Ronaldo Benzema.
Subs: Adán, Pepe, Carvalho, Kaká, Essien, Modrić, Higuaín.
Wow. Di Maria leaves his post and Welbeck heads in. 1-0 Utd.
Ronaldo w a great header 1-1.
1-1 Final. I'm more than OK with that, even being behind on away goals at the moment. I'll take 1-1 and a motivated Cristiano Ronaldo heading back to Old Trafford.
I don't know. I believe Real needed a cushion.
Looking at their schedule, they'll have back-to-back matches against Barca [CDR Feb 26 (A), LL Mar 2(H)] prior to their trip to Old Trafford on Mar 5. That's the toughest 3 match stretch you'll find, and JoMo's job certainly hangs in the balance of the results. At the least, he'll need to progress in the CDR and CL.
In the same period, ManU's next 3 matches are Reading, QPR, and Norwich. They were coming off a much tougher stretch prior to this match. They'll be fully rested and at home for the 2nd leg. I still think Madrid is the better side, but the tide certainly favors ManU on paper.
Great result for United. I like them at home with the away goal advantage.
And with City playing Chelsea next, the premier league could really be done by that point.
Would I have liked a cushion? Of course. But I am perfectly fine with 1-1. One away goal is barely anything. If Madrid can't score at least one in the return leg, then they obviously don't deserve to go through regardless of what happened in the first leg. I think the final result is still 50-50, which is what should be expected from these two teams. Maybe 1-1 doesn't bother me due to being on the opposite end last year and seeing Real Madrid take a 1-1 lead after the first leg at Bayern Munich only to give up the same at home and lose in a shootout. I still think it's kind of unfair that overtime goals in Champions League ties still count for away goals. 120 min vs 90 min doesn't seem fair. But if 1-1 happens in regulation in Manchester, maybe I'll change my opinion..
I am quite familiar with the schedule, but difficult decisions will need to be made. Important players will need to be rested in that second Barcelona game. The fans in the Bernabeu are extremely demanding, but they understand the bigger picture this year. The league is already conceded and that game means nothing for Mourinho's job. Also, Madrid is petitioning La Liga to move that game to Saturday, so we'll see.
Maybe it's the fan in me, but in the second leg, I'm still having visions of what happened the last time Real Madrid visited Old Traffic with a Ronaldo in the Champions League (2003).
I agree that the 2nd Barca match is inconsequential in the big picture. That's either a peak or slope...advancing in the CDR could be a big momentum push, but a knockout pits their whole season on the 2nd leg at OT. In honesty, ManU should've scored 2 today. RVP finishes that volley 8 out of 10, and he was unfortunate to hit the bar on his other effort. Varane is all world, but the rest of Real's D was shaky when pressed...especially on set pieces where ManU is strong. Vidic will also be back for the 2nd leg. As I said, I think Real has far more talent but I like Utds position.
A little OT....but I had no idea the Cosmos are back. I can't wait to order that Jersey. I spent many a day up at the old Meadowlands watching them play. Great stuff.
"One man didn't build this program and one man sure as hell cannot tear it down."
Last time I was on World Soccer Shop they had a lot of Cosmos jerseys.

Anyone know what the deal is with United's pitch? Looks awful, figure a club as big as them would have some decent grass. Has there been other events there recently?
Not sure but Alex has apparently been giving shite to the board all year about getting it fixed.
For good reason, could have been Oldham's pitch. Should he a fun quarterfinal if Chelsea get past Middlesbrough.
Yes it would. That would essentially be CFC's best opportunity for glory this season, so I'd like to see it happen.
anyone have a horse in the Bayern vs Arsenal Champions match tomorrow? I'm a Bayern fan and I just don't see the Gunners keeping up with the Bavarians. I think Bayern might be the best team in the world in terms of collective team form. I'm looking forward to watching though.
