ROBERT MORRIS.... Him and PJ, 1AA champs.
Panther Lair twitter saying "he is considering a transfer but hasn't formally requested his release yet."
Sounds as good as gone (not practicing with the team with no timeline for return). Either way, his heart isn't in Pitt and there's no way he has his teammate's respect/trust anymore.

Here you go.
Ya know.....1st of all....THIS is why I don't take Pitt football seriously. Really. I don't care how avid of a fan you are, you have to admit it is a joke of the highest order. Pirate like. Joke. It is. I dare anyone to refute it. So Harry next time want to "pump us up" with more positive BS save it. Please. Because even if true, you know the other shoe is going to drop.
Anyway....on this note, remember the grumblings about Shell when he was at Hopewell? Well........they look to be fairly true. The thing here...the guy is "the guy". So if he can't handle being "the guy" then maybe this is another in a long line of overrated, bust out WPIAL running backs.

Name another rb from the WPIAL lately that was a bust...serious question.
Not sure if that question was rhetorical, but I what I posted was a post from "owtahear" on the Pitt board.
Said during his recruitment he will never make it in college. Terrific athlete who was pushed through the system without him doing a lick of work.
Just posted by the source that broke the story:
"This all started when Shell had multiple disagreements with Head Coach Paul Chryst and his staff. Shell has said that apparently Chryst and his staff possibly have been talking about the players behind their backs. It all seems like things escalated very quickly and came out of no where, but it looks looks like Shell might just be as good as gone.
We were contacted by some of our Inside Pitt sources yesterday night about the news. Shell did not practice yesterday supposedly because of an “Excused absence” but in actuality Shell came to the UPMC facility and asked for his transfer papers, then proceeded to get on the Pitt players shuttle bus and go back to his dorm. Later that night, Shell addressed some of his teammates regarding his situation. As of last night Shell is set to transfer to a school in either California or Arizona.
Another source we spoke to last night, spoke to Shell’s family and said that Arizona State could possibly be the program to land Shell. As we all know Arizona State is coached by former Pitt Head Coach Todd Graham. Graham was the coach that recruited Shell to Pitt so this might not come as a surprise that ASU is a top potential team. Shell also stated that teams like USC, UCLA, California and Arizona are also in the mix the land the highly touted running back.
Shell is having a sit down meeting with Head Coach Paul Chryst sometime today regarding his possible transfer. If Shell does actually transfer the Panthers would seem to be a bit thin in the running back department as Isaac Bennett and Malcolm Crockett would take most of the carries."
It may not only be Shell that is disgruntled as well...
Suck It Emmert!! and "Sorry for not being sorry for being a Penn Stater" - Philafan
I may be wrong but IIRC wasn't Shell a big deciding factor for Boyd going to Pitt? I thought I read somewhere he really liked that Pitt was able to keep DJ and Shell home, so he wanted to keep that going. I may be wrong on that though...

that's the sense I get too...if it really is coaches disrespecting players and he took the initiative to bring it up to multiple teammates yesterday....well, let's just say I bet the rest of their spring practices will be awkward.
They get a coach to stay for more than a year and he turns the entire team against himself...lol. If/When Shell leaves and they suck again this year because of it, the fanbase might just run him out of town :P
Sidebar: I wonder if DJ/Boyd regret buying into the whole "WPA superstars coming home to save the Pitt football program" sales pitch yet.
haha you read my mind. I think it was DJ who tweeted how upset he was that Foster decided to leave home instead of buying into their package...now only two remain.
Shell would be stupid for transferring. Gotta think long term. Yeah he transfers to say ASU, he has to sit a year, plays a year and probably leaves early. He has one year to make a splash if he wants big time NFL money soon. I don't want him to but stay at pitt, but keep your head down, do your two years and go pro and your stock will probably be higher, thus making more money sooner. Sounds like a petulant child that is unhappy and taking his ball and going home but in the process he's just hurting himself.
Lol yeah I knew they both had talked about that. I know Shai McKenzie had also talked about it too...if this happens, you've got to wonder how it effects their recruiting this year. Especially if the rumor about the coaches talking behind players backs is true..
Doesn't this always happen with new coaches though? I mean Shell was recruited by Graham and now he's not there. Alot of these kids were recruited by different coaches. Hell as many as 6 different coaches may have recruited kids on this team if you include interim coaches. That can't be a good atmosphere for buying into the program.

Dominate The State
Apparently WVU QB Chavas Rawlins has ties with Pitt players and he tweeted that Shell is leaving. Getting the feeling that he's already told the team he is gone, Chryst is just pulling a last-ditch effort today - but it's definitely gonna be hard for them to keep a guy who has no respect for the coach or program. I mean if we're being honest, without his other "issues" keeping him near home, he never would have gone to Pitt in the first place...
Well, that would be the responsible thing to do, but that probably doesn't mean much.
Frankly, I'd rather he stay at Pitt than end up at ASU with Graham. Not a Pitt fan, but that coach is a scum bag that I can't stand.
Can't say I'd blame him for leaving though....especially if Chryst is really talking about players behind their backs (whatever that really means). For whatever reason the WPIAL guys that stay home there never really materialize. Penn Hills LB Dan Mason, Gateway LB Shayne Hale...guys with a ton of potential and never ever developed. I realize Mason had a terrible knee injury however I believe I saw he's already in the doghouse this year.
I don't know if I'd go as far as saying they never materialize. Guys like Revis and Jon Baldwin were both Pittsburgh kids and they are both playing on sunday.
True - I guess I should've stated most don't materialize.
So coaches aren't allowed to talk about players unless they are present to hear what is said? That makes no sense.
It doesn't make sense....but if the coach has some beef to pick with the player and doesn't have the guts to hash it out with said player, well then that's the coach's problem. Coach needs to stop b*tching about people and take care of business.
I didn't say that at all, and I don't know where you're getting that from.
Shell isn't the sharpest tool in the shed, so I seriously doubt he's considering what happens if he doesn't explode his junior year.
Why should we have to go to class if we came here to play FOOTBALL, we ain't come to play SCHOOL, classes are POINTLESS
Sounds like Shell is a drama queen IYAM.
Get over it. You're an adult who is going to college for free to play football. Taking your ball and going home because you don't like the way people talk to you is ridiculous.
Lol funny that "owtahear" says "I don't take Pitt football seriously" but posted this to someone after we got Dorian Johnson last year (before the sanctions):
"Whoever’s trying to kill me isn’t getting the job done. But one day, I’m going to punch that f___r in the face."
