Sure it was ... Devils benefitted from a shitty effort from Pittsburgh - very undisciplined hockey. You can't expect to win when giving the opposition 10 power plays. It's pretty simple and that was the difference.
Much like the Devils played their worst game of the season last Saturday. Maybe they both bring their A game tomorrow, Moose will be in net and has been playing out of his mind in his 2 starts, which makes me worry he's due for a bad outing. I'm just glad Bobby Butler is OK. I thought he broke something on that slap shot he took from Kovy.
Great weekend for the Devils. Had a great time last night at Consol, Kovy is starting to heat up, Clarkson playing out of his mind and Moose had another great game. Glad to see Larsson has taken his opportunity and run with it, looking like a #4 overall pick now. Really like what I've seen from Bobby Butler so far. Gets Zubrus back and a 4th line of Matteau-Josefsen-Butler will be very formidable. Matteau getting better every game as well, glad they kept him up.....still weird for me rooting for a Matteau though, I'll never forgive his old man!!!
Quick, what's more boring than watching Blues hockey?
If you answered watching Blues hockey announced by Joe Buck, you are correct!
FOX announcer Joe Buck stops by the booth at Scottrade Center and calls a portion of the second period between the Blues and Kings.
Joe Buck calling Devils trap hockey in the late 90's early 2000's? I hope that doesn't exist.
Tye McGinn just beat the crap out of Mark Stuart.
You mean when they were one of the highest scoring teams in the league (led the league in 2001)? had a guy with 40 goals on their second line in Mogilny along with the arnott-Elias-Sykora line that pile up offense, a great offensive D-man in Niedermayer and the best hitter in the game, yeah, that was pretty boring stuff.
Couldn't remember what years it was, it was a long time ago, so I just guessed around where it was. Mid 90's was what I was talking about. It was awful to watch. Incredibly effective, but terribly boring.
Awful break for Erik Karlsson. Horrible luck, hope he recovers after surgery.
I am a fan of Jim Hughson, Bob Cole, Gary Thorne, and Doc.
"Whoever’s trying to kill me isn’t getting the job done. But one day, I’m going to punch that f___r in the face."
What did the Pens broadcast say about Karlsson?
I missed it as I had to run somewhere before weather got worse here.
I dont think it was a dirty play and Shanahan agrees. It was an unfortunate accident and anyone who has watched Matt Cooke since he was almost kicked out of the league and kicked off the Pens knows that his game has completely changed.
BTW, I cant stand Errey and Steigerwald. Really wish they would just can those two and bring back Mike Lange and put Bourque in for Errey.
Yeah, I didn't think it was intentional, I just meant what were they saying about severity. If Cooke did that intentionally, 1. he's incredible at hiding it and 2. that's just crazy and disgusting. I think there's 0 chance it was intentional.
I just felt terrible for Karlsson. The Sens are damn good with him and he's great to watch. Horrible break.
You can listen to Lange and Bourge on line. I don't like Errey and Steigerwald either.

Both sets are ear bleeding bad.... There has never been a penalty on PITT that was fair and always a missed call against them.... Such homers
PENN STATE FOREVER
Mike Lange is great. One of the nicest guys I have ever met too.
Fact remains, if this would have been Pascal Dupuis doing the same thing, nothing would be made of it. No upraising by anyone. Even though Cooke has a history, as incidental as it was, he should be suspended for the rest of his career according to many. Doing something like that intentionally takes some serious skills. Cooke doesn't have those skills.
All of Cooke's biggest critics of two years ago when he played foolish, have come to his defense on this. The next national guru who says it was Cooke's fault will be the first. This goes from TSN.CA; hockey night in Canada crew; everyone on the NHL Network or NBC Sports or XM Radio.
It was unfortunate. Ottawa is my second favorite team and I enjoy watching Karlsson. The loss of Spezza and now this basically puts them in jeopardy of not making the play-offs. However, not too long ago, I remember a team that lost two of the top three players in the NHL within a 10-day period; that team actually overcame that and made it to the play-offs with a decent seed. It can be done.
It honestly never occurred to me that it could have been malicious until someone pointed it out to me that it wasn't intentional, so if you're coming at me, I'm not sure why. I was honestly just worried about Karlsson. And the fact that the Pens overcame it is great and all, but it doesn't factor into me stating that it's a horrible break for the Sens.
I'm not or wasn't coming at you at all.
Yes, its a horrible break for Ottawa and should be treated as such.

If we are going to suspend Cooke for an inadvertent skate to an area about an inch wide while skating full speed into the boards and trying to get the puck, then I have a few others that should never play hockey again. Stumple, Hartnell (for biting off LeTang's ear and other malicious crap), Ovechkin, the whole Ruutu family, Steve Downie, Steve Ott, Subban, and a host of others.
I know Cooke has a history, but that play wasn't purposeful, no way. Ovechicken head hunts one or 2 players every game and no one says a thing about it. Subban tries to intentionally hurt players all the time with slew foots and twice with his skate - nothing.
Get over it people. It's hockey, crap like this happens, but this time it was an accident.
Yeah, but radio broadcast is always ahead of the TV broadcast, and using iHeartRadio when listening online I cant pause the broadcast to delay it. Maybe I am missing something in being able to do it. Thinking about it, I do have SiriusXM Internet Radio and I believe I can pause the radio broadcast on their.
and, you continue to be clueless. Lange and Borque are very good.
The two stooges on TV are awful, they cry about everything and anytime a penguin loses an edge, even if nobody is near him there should be a penalty. Meanwhile, a Pen could tomohawk someone directly infront of a ref, split his head wide open and they'd be stunned a penalty was called.
I hated having no CSN in State College and having to watch on FSN Pittsburgh. Couldn't stand the announcing. Although I'm sure if it were flipped, Pens fans at PSU would say the same things about the CSN announcers.
