Yea, I'm hoping that this results in buying out Bryz. If they can get Mason to sign there for the $1.5mil range then I would actually like them to bring back Emery for a similar number and pay goalies about $3mil total compared to the Bryz deal. They will need the extra money with the cap going down and Giroux's deal expiring end of next year.
Flyers dump Bobrovsky off to Columbus to backup Mason after bringing in Bryz ---> Bryz has been ok but not 9 million worth of ok ---> Bob goes to Columbus and becomes a clear #1 relegating Mason to the bench ---> Flyers trade for Mason. Flyers goalie FAIL. Again.
As a Pens fan, I can see your frustration. I can't blame them though for attempting to push Bryz. I would guess they were trying to get one of the other guys but the price was probably too much for an organization with very little depth.
Yeah, they were in a tough position. For the first time in 15 years they targeted a true #1 goalie. Bryz was the best on the market, so they moved. They thought the position was locked up and shipped out Bob. In hindsight, it didn't work, but it's tough to fault the Flyers too much for making a move they thought would help them through a new era.
Can BOB do it in Philly?? 2 Russian goalies both mentally broken here.....
PENN STATE FOREVER
After watching the last two Pens games I think that Murray is a horrendous trade for Shero. He is lost and not worth a sack of pucks at this point.
What the hell. Ugly ass goals, but I'll take them.
Yeah I am losing confidence...His skating is beyond terrible. He makes Hal Gill look like a rocket.
Then again, we have to remember all these guys are new to the team/system, on top of injuries to big time players like Letang/Martin/Crosby, that we just need to give it time. I fully expected us to have a lull after these acquisitions and we are definitely seeing that. Give it time, get healthy and we will be ready to rock for the playoffs.
Having said that, I am more disappointed in the team veterans (players that werent acquisitions) as they have looked terrible the past 2 games. I give a pass on the acquisitions for now, but not our team vets.
"Whoever’s trying to kill me isn’t getting the job done. But one day, I’m going to punch that f___r in the face."
Murray is fine. He wasn't brought in to win a skating contest. He might be slow, but he has made the adjustments and has stayed in the league for a while despite his skating ability. His compete level is pretty good. He was one of the few that gave a shit against Buffalo. Funny, SJ fans were saying how slow Murray is/was, but yet, they acquired a slower guy in Scott Hannan. Hannan makes Murray look like Ussain Bolt on skates. I bet some of the kids on my son's squirt team could handle Hannan in a skating race.
No heart, little compete level and no emotion. That summed up the last two games. I can handle the loss to Buffalo. They needed to lose a game. Tonight, I couldn't handle. The Rags have been the Pens' bitch the last three years and some of those games happened without Malkin, Crosby, Letang. The Rags' new guys stepped in off the plane and made major impact. Ryane Clowe, who couldn't hit water if he fell out of a boat before today, scored twice. That should tell you something about the Pens effort.
If there is a defenseman that I'm concerned with, its Niskanen. He has looked like shit the last three games. He is the guy to worry about, not Murray.

Man, if you are going to complain about a defenseman, you should be looking at Orpik. Awful play by him for 2 straight games. Every time he attempts to shoot the puck in, it hits the other team's forward. Why can't he get it deep once?
It's also time for Glass and Kennedy to take a seat. I don't understand why they are never scratched. Glass hasn't recorded a point all year, and Kennedy is just plain awful.
The Rangers were 6-5-1 against the Penguins the past two seasons before this lockout jumbled mess. Hardly their "bitch" in my book. And Rags? How creative.
"A lion does not concern himself with the opinions of the sheep"- Glenn Carson
I've been saying this all season..... too bad Asham didn't knock Glass's head off last night.
I like Asham personally. I would much rather have him than Glass any day of the week. Unfortunately, we are stuck with him though.
The Pens look a step slower these last 2 games. Hopefully when they get their puck moving d back, a lot of their transition game will come back. It is hard to lose your top 2 d and the NHL MVP and not look a little disjointed...add in the trades and you have a little less cohesion. They will come together, but there is going to be some growing pains before the playoffs.
Orpik has looked worse in more than just 2 straight games. Dude has been absolutely terrible the past few years, especially this year. Takes so many stupid penalties, is turning soft, out of position all the time, no heart, and so forth. He has to be one of the compliance buyouts this summer. Nisky needs to go too, along with Glass and Kennedy.
I've been a big fan of Orpik's for years. That said, after his contract expires in 2013-2014, I don't see how Shero can resign him. He is indeed not the same Brooks Orpik that we have grown accustomed to having. There was one shift this year, maybe against Philly, that he looked like the Orpik of old. Brooks has alot of heart, but ...
I don't think Nisky needs to go just yet. Sure, he has looked terrible the last three games, but for the most part, he has been solid the last two years. If Shero wants to get back in the draft and get a second round pick for him in the offseason, go for it. Dumoullin should be ready for next year. After a year in SWB, Harrington and Pouliott could be ready the following year. We have other defensemen I'd send packing - hello Engelland.
I think Kennedy is gone in the off-season.
There are some idiot GMs out there. Take a look at some of the deals yesterday.
That's my point - if Asham would've dropped Glass at least we could've gotten him out of the lineup.
amazing how quickly people are turning on this team. They just recorded the first perfect month in the history of the NHL and now people are acting like its the end of the world. Take the best forward (not just any forward, best player in the world) and best 2 dmen out of a lineup and see how they fare.
The big issue right now is that Niskanen is not capable of being the best puck moving dman on a team (excluding Despres as he is young and like any rookie would be given responsibility on this team). A pairing of a skater+stay at home guy works wonders, not so much when the skaters are out. Funny how people will soon start missing Martin, he has been a steadying presence this year. Engelland is terrible, he is the worst dman on the roster
Ideal/Fully healthy roster
some combo of 36/46/27/48. Glass has to sit but he wont. I am fine with Iginla or Kunitz with Malkin.
What will happen
Glass has easily been the worst forward on this roster, he will keep playing though. :(
I don't think people are turning on the Pens. I think its the effort that has been exhibited the last two games. If you lose 3-2, of 4-3, so be it. They lost to a combined score of 10-2 against teams they should beat even without Crosby and Letang. Sorry.
Sid likely out for the season with concussion symptoms according to Howard Eskin. Not sure how much he would actually know, but his tweets like this have tended to be more likely correct than incorrect. Although they're always based on Philly sports, so who knows.

Nobody is slower than Murray.
Hannan is nothing but insurance depth, and won't play when everyone is healthy. With Demers out, we have two rookies back there right now. We needed another veteran just in case.
Hannan is slower. My 10 year old can beat him.
The guy doesn't know his ass from his elbow pertaining to injuries in Pittsburgh. He is a Philly schill.
Dejan Kovacevic @Dejan_Kovacevic 1m Who is Howard Eskin and what does he know that Sidney Crosby himself doesn't? Come on, people. #Pens #TribHKY
