Best game I have seen in a long time by any team...and is without Iginla.
It was like a swarm of bees. They just kept coming in waves.
Crosby now has 26 points in March alone!
I was a little concerned about this game coming in. Winnipeg has given the Pens fits. Tonight, not so much. Defense was solid; Vokoun was the man and the offense just toyed with the Jets. Can't break up that first line. Morrow throwing his weight around and Murray with a few hits - the one on Kane was hilarious. He even fired a bomb on net. I think the last time back to back shutouts happened was during the Nixon era.
Anyway, Isles coming in next and Iggy debuts. HMM .. the Islanders won't know what hit them. We have made a few changes since the last game ... three acquisitions and Geno is back. Should be interesting.
If you thought that was great, wait until he actually follows through with one of those, rather than just bracing himself for it.
Sure, he braced - and pushed Kane off like a gnat. E. Kane isn't exactly MSL size. He is a big boy. It showed me something. Murray and Morrow have a chance to be cult heros in Pittsburgh for their stays.
Kane shooting the puck right at the ref or Orpik shows what kind of guy this clown is. Ref was ticked. images from thepensblog (added Crosby's setup).
"Whoever’s trying to kill me isn’t getting the job done. But one day, I’m going to punch that f___r in the face."
I really enjoyed how Murray allowed no cycles to happens, just completely wouldnt let any behind or in front of the net. One Jet tried and he got a viscious crosser by Murray and then left haha.
Morrow in front of the net is great...He just bulls to the front of the net, sometimes taking multiple guys with him.
Neither are the best skaters in the world, but so far they provide big pieces the Pens lacked.
While Kane isn't MSL size, he sure isn't Ovechkin or Buff sized either, two guys that Murray has put down in the past. When he actually unloads on someone, you'll know. That bump on Kane was a tiny percentage of what Thor is capable of.
Due to the stage of Murray's career, he'll never be as popular in Pittsburgh as he was (and still is) in San Jose, but he won't be some nameless rental you guys forget about by next season. Between the vicious hits, and hilarious interviews, he's impossible not to love.
edit: Also, can someone tell Errey and Steigerwald that it's not "Doug" it's "Douglas." Or better yet, tell Murray that they're getting his name wrong, so that he can break their jaws and force you guys to get a real announcing duo in the booth.

Ha, I am starting to really enjoy your posts.
Thor is a perfect name for him actually. I have seen him play over the years and am glad he plays for us now. You have been very accurate in your assessment of him - particularly his skating ability (wow).
Also, as a fan of the Penguins since 1978, I can only say that listening to Errey and Steigerwalt is as bad as it gets. Lange was awesome and I will never understand why they broke them up. Borque on the radio side is just as bad too. I heard Borque say that Malkin looked out of sync and that his timing was off last night. What?
By "skating ability" I'm sure you mean his lack of such ability.
Pairing him with someone who doesn't mind having to play board to board while leaving Murray in the middle of the ice will go a long way towards masking that hindrance. Putting him out there with that Crosby guy helps a bit too, I guess.
Steigy is insuffable. He really just needs to hang out at Dish and Nakama on the Southside fulltime and hit on young yinzers.
From the Sharks/Wings game last night, Datsyuk flat out embarrassed Couture.
Detroit can't move to the Eastern conference soon enough.
From the blog Puck Daddy: We’ve seen Pavel Datsyuk dangle through defensemen, deke goaltenders and score with the puck seemingly on a string attached to his stick. In summary, we’ve seen the Detroit Red Wings star come up with new and inventive ways of embarrassing … Continue reading →
Malkin was out of sync and his timing was off, but each shift he got it closer to normal.
Bourque is an excellent analyst, so not sure what you are talking about. Lange/Bourque should be on TV and Errey/Steigy should be sent to announce the Johnstown Mini-Mites.
What did those Johnstown kids ever do to you?
Agree, Borque is good. He and Lange are a good team, the TV crew is the worst in the NHL, flat out embarrassing
I know that Borque knows what he is talking about, but his emotions and lack of real speaking ability make him hard to listen to sometimes.
I thought Malkin looked pretty solid. Playing with Morrow for the first time, not having a power play, he looked good to me. In fact, I thought his speed was difficult for Morrow to figure out where to go at times.
I am from Johnstown, born and raised from a Johnstown Warrior mini-mites program!
Why would you want to subject those poor kids and their parents to those two morons then?
Your right...But then we could trade those 2 back for Dana Heinze.
New commercial from the Sharks, and another great one. It's not as cheesy-bad as most of their past ones are, but it's still funny.

The plan seems as follows
Dupuis, Crosby, Kunitz
Neal, Malkin, Iggy
Morrow, Sutter, Cooke
Morrow moves to the third line with Sutter and Cooke. That will be a bad matchup for alot of teams. Morrow's presence in front of the net is what we have been missing, since, well Guerin.
Exactly what we thought.
Still hope these guys remember to play d sometimes and don't get caught up in the run and gun in the playoffs. Get the lead, then wait for mistakes!
Iggy's in the lineup tonight... in other words, the Islanders are in serious trouble.

Well that was quick of the Iginla shine wearing off for me with Crosby taking a puck right to the teeth. Now all of a sudden, I couldnt care less about Iggy, winning this game, or anything else except positive news wrt Crosby.
These damn blue jerseys are cursed beyond belief. Tuesday night, I believe is the last game in the contract and then they can burn these jerseys FOREVER!
Just turned the game on. Where is Crosby?
Edit: just saw t's post above. Looks like Sid is off to the dentist.

In the playoffs I doubt the Pens can be beat in honest hockey.... only hope for a team is when Sid or Malkin goes across the middle you flatten them legal or illegally... Look what happened when Neal went head hunting Couturier or Giroux... Flyers lost 2 straight and 6 of 8..... Then this season has happened and both of those guys production is down. One of them goes across the middle you put an elbow to the head they go down.... CEC goes silent and so do the Pens. What goes around comes around. Just a part of sports... hurt the other team.
PENN STATE FOREVER
