He wasn't crying over Manti. He was crying because the tee shirt and #5 jersey sales have come to a hault.
Manti was a big money maker for ND this year.
Not sure who made this, sorry no reference...
Personally, I don't know why ND got involved at all.
"We have no comment" and let Manti do all the talking for himself. Putting ND's face on this was stupid - even if they did know about it early. So did ESPN but you don't see them crying in press conferences.
They needed to distance themselves - he's no longer an ND football player.
These hoaxers are such amateurs. A professional would have killed off the girlfriend after Te'o signed his NFL contract.
Seriously. There's a USC fan on tBB who is talking about how he knows people involved, how she's real, that they try to scam a number of players for money.
If they were doing it for money...they didn't do it very well.
If he were on the phone with her 8 hours every night, where are the phone records? Whose number was he calling? Teo is just a big a part of the hoax as anyone is.
I'm ready to throw up. The Domers have a support thread for Teo going on their board. How dumb could these people be??? If Teo knew none of this was true was didnt he come out and say so way back when.. I think he's just a self-centered player that wants all the attention.

And given that he "found out about this hoax" () weeks ago......how come he hasn't come out publicly yet to tell us his side? After all, if he's telling the truth, it's not like this bomb just dropped on him yesterday and he needs a day or two to compose himself. He's already had 3+ weeks to do that.
Come out and show the emails, phone records, etc.
I suppose he could have made up a bunch of crap to make his relationship seem better than it actually was without being part of the hoax. He would not be the first person to do such a thing. Of course, he appears to have to have really given it 110%.
Just something as simple as saying he talked to her on the phone for 8 hours, overnight, etc.. Only 2 options are a) he lied (which obviously destroys credibility and suggests he wanted to enhance the story) or b) someone actually wanted to seriously prank this guy in the greatest and most dedicated prank of all time, by having a female play a "Truman Show" type role with him for years.
I mean seriously...if someone wanted to just play a prank, that's easy enough. But no way in the world some female seriously gave up that much of her real life, talking to him every night, just for a prank. MAYBE if the guy was already a millionaire and you wanted to extort money. But not if you were going to just end up pretending to die then.
Best thing the guy can do is hold a PC, come out as being gay, say he was involved the whole time and did it because of his insecurity...and then blame society for his insecurities. Doing that will gain some sympathy immediately from some (not me), and then in due time, regain more from others (still not me.)
They shouldn't have gotten involved. But, they figured he was the face of the program and was a ND football player at the time. Who knows why they got involved.
If he really was pranked, this has to be one of the longest running pranks ever.... How would he go that long wlthout ever asking any questions?
Also, alot of the information in the article is from Manti's dad. Funny how Brian talked to her, and he also said the two would meet in Hawaii. Haven't heard a peep out of him since all this broke.
The fact that his girlfriend was not from Canada, the Niagra Falls area, made it a lot less obvious to others to suspect she was fake.
Some of his teammates doubted her and his comments. If he got duped than I feel bad for him. Maybe it started out that way and he figured it out early but just kept it going as a lie. Hard to dupe someone for nearly a year.
If you were to believe him, he was duped for 3 years.
In this day and age there is no way a person gets duped for three years.
NFL draft consultant Gil Brandt believes the uncertainty surrounding Manti Te'o could affect when he is selected in April by an NFL team.
"I like your head, it's a good look." - James Franklin, to a bald reporter asking a question.
You raise some great points. I mean who plays a prank/hoax out for 3 years? It has to be a world record.
Did he call the police?
He did.......but then they went out on a few dates too and apparently are still seeing each other.
But then the cops died in a high speed chase following a bank robbery. Several months later he discovered that they were actually robbers impersonating cops when they accidentally called him from the Caymans
L K @LennayKay
I will be releasing a statement, via twitter, between 11am and noon today.
this is getting good lol
"People ask me why I stayed here so long, Look around, Look around, I stay here because I love you all" R.I.P. Joe - 12/21/1926-01/22/2012
I thought that fake crying session before he started talking about how Te'o couldnt trust anyone was sooo dramatized and faked by Swarbrick. Would expect nothing less from the "mystique of notre dame"
The only thing I hate more than Notre Dame football is the MYTH of Notre Dame football. Its damaging - just ask Lizzy Seeberg
"Whoever’s trying to kill me isn’t getting the job done. But one day, I’m going to punch that f___r in the face."
Is this when this Manti releases a statement via "Lennay Kay" apologizing to himself, his family, and the University for causing this mess?
Google Cache should be able to pull it up. If not, I am sure people have copies of it. It still has a digital trail and many stories cited that story in their own stories.
thanks for reminding me of that. still available via cache. will post the article in another post for everyone to see.
