At least Lannan had a couple good starts before getting shelled.
Are the Phils the worst hitting team in baseball. I don't get to watch many games living in Indy and I get to see the Reds series and there the only people that look they are trying are Utley and Young. Very Brutal
The Marlins have to win that distinction, but the Phils stink.
They are 23rd in batting average at .240 .... how would you like to root for the marlins or devil rays ...they are at .209 & .204 respectively.
If winning was easy even losers would do it.
I don't feel he was worth the money/headache personally, and I'm happy the club didn't resign him (and that the Angels gave him a monster deal).
I didn't see that, but it sounds like Josh. He goes through these funks where he's just in lala land, and doesn't seem to give a damn. I DID see him come up to the plate a few games ago with the tying run on second/third and the winning run on first/second, and strike out swinging on three or four pitches. I felt guilty taking pleasure from it tbh. You have to feel for him, since he's dealing with a lot of personal demons on a daily basis, but it's frustrating to say the least. Thank goodness that's happening in an Angels uniform now instead of a Texas one.
Why should we have to go to class if we came here to play FOOTBALL, we ain't come to play SCHOOL, classes are POINTLESS
Carpenter... .115 over the past week, without an extra base hit... He must have been jinxed just by being associated in a trade talks with my team, they way it is going...
Someone offered me Cliff Lee (my pitching ain't great) and Brett Gardner (would be my 4th or 5th OF and give me 6 total for 3 OF spots/2 utility) for Panda (I have Headley and Freese anyway) and Everth Cabrera (great backup 2b/ss, but not a starter for me). I think I could push for a slightly better hitter if I really wanted, but it would have to be an OF cause this kid has 8 OF for some reason. Beltran would probably be the best option there. The other team needs infielders desperately, so he's in an overpay situation.
Some great baseball yesterday around the majors.
Baltimore walks off with a grand slam in 10 to win the game.
Phillies just run out of steam in the late innings and fall short of a much needed win.
Arizona tops the Yanks in extras.
Atlanta comes from behind to win on Gattis' 2 run HR.
"DOMINATE the state" - James Franklin 1/11/14
Push for the extra hitter shavi. You should definitely be able to squeeze an extra player for Panda. While I like Gardner, Beltran is a better option.
Cliff Lee is the back bone of that rotation right now and it stuff looks the best out of the big 3. He'll help you out significantly, especially if your weak in the pitching department.
That's my feeling. Nelson Cruz and Beltran are the options that best fit on his team. Not sure if he'd be willing to part with Cruz (or Beltran for that matter, but I think I could get him).
My rotation is Dickey, Greinke (ugh), Brett Anderson (one of my favorite players), then a pile of middling guys with Dempster, Homer Bailey, Jarrod Parker (he's been brutal), Dan Haren (he's been brutal) and AJ Griffin. Team doesn't have many holes in the lineup, so a starting pitcher upgrade for a backup inf and Panda seems good to me.
Wow, you are hurtin huh? Dickey left his game yesterday, sore neck? Shoulder? Obviously Grienke, Dumpster( sorry, IMO he's terrible, thank the good lord my team didn't get him last year), and Haren's been really off, I'd be concerned, just because its been years in the making for him. Parker has been getting shelled from what I can recall, Griffin, whom I don't know too much about, except he pitches for the A's, (jeez half your pitchers are from Oakland), he's got some promise, believe he was a rookie last year.
Anderson, I apologize in advance cause he's one of your fav's, I think one of his wins was against Houston and he pitched well against a better hitting team, off the top of my head I can't remember who and then got shelled last time out. I think he may be alright, walks and homers are the problem with Brett, especially when his K's are down.
So your looking at Homer Bailey, lucky for you looked really good against the Phils his last start, his stock is going up IMO. He'll emerge now with Cueto being down.
I'd def do that that deal for Lee. If you can swing any other guys, in other deals, do it, you need some pitching buds.
Dickey is supposedly fine . Dempster I like more than most, good k's, innings eater (good for QS), decent team to help get wins. Anderson I love, he just can't stay healthy. When he's healthy, he's a very good pitcher. The rest are bleh. The kid said he would probably do Lee + Cruz/Beltran.
I'm no as hurting as you'd think in pitching though, cause I'm the only one who streams pitchers, so I get about 7 extra starts a week. That means I'm likely to win wins/QS/K's most weeks. Split pitching 3-3 and win batting categories more often than not since I have probably the best lineup, and I'm set.
Yu's stuff is nasty, plain nasty.
I didn't mind Dempster when he was on the Cubs, but he was crap for us. Don't like him anymore.
Anderson got hurt yesterday. Of course.
Gotta love Big Papi.

The Sox just had Neil Diamond sing Sweet Caroline during the middle of the 8th and it was awesome. Fenway sounded great.
One can only imagine if he sang it during one of PSU's games, that would be unreal.
Anyone hear that "We Are" chant at the Phillies game? Guess it's PSU night.
Haha yeah I heard that. Looks like Pitt and Philly fans can get along after all.
That was pretty awesome. I'm surprised Wheels didn't comment on it.
It is PSU night. Saw an email a few weeks back about it being PSU night.
On a lighter note, how about the Phillies lack of offense with bases loaded!?!?
Both runs scored on wild pitch and hit by pitch respectively.
Jesse Biddle so far tonight for Reading:
6 IP 0 H 0 BB 0 R 13 Ks and he has two doubles at the plate.
Rube will sell him for Adam Dunn and a cheesesteak at the deadline.
He just lost the no hitter but struck out another 2. He has 15 Ks through 6 2/3.
There's something magical about beating the bejesus out of your rival to win the series at their place.
It just feels right.
Oh, and we may have found something in Tepesch. Maybe enough to garner a Price trade if the Rays are far enough out by the deadline?
