Been there, done that (Gilbride was Steelers OC in the late 90s).
Ah, let's see. The blame game. Well, being a Steeler fan is not so bad. 6 of 8 in Superbowls and typically in the playoffs. Lots of injuries this year and still almost made the playoffs. Yeah, Haley wasn't great, but never had a #1 RB, WR's that just fumble constantly, a QB that was hurt for 5 games, a defense whose star players (Woodley, Polamalu, Harrison) were hurt for a lot of the year. Am I disappointed, yes. But they also lost 5 games by 3 points. Normally the Steelers are on the plus side of the close games. With that said, if Haley has a consistent RB (one that actually starts week to week) and the wr's don't fumble as much as they did, then we don't have this conversation.
As for those of you non-steeler fans ripping the terrible towel, I was in Dallas for the steeler game and that is all you could see in that stadium. Like it or not, the Steelers are the real America's team!
Just like Ohio State is the real LBU?
That goes with out saying...LOL. No I think our boys (Lee, Bowman, Puz, Connor, etc) have proven our worth!...but I almost felt bad for Dallas's fans during the game. We completely took over that stadium - which is huge!
Have a great Christmas. I have enjoyed your posts throughout the last 7 months since I became a member.

How much of the Steelers trouble this season is due to the leadership void left by the retirements of Hines Ward, James Farrior, and Aaron Smith. Those were three guys that held teammates accountable. When remaining stars like Harrison, Polamalu, and Woodley miss significant time with injuries, the team is bound to be in disarray.
Well freakin' put. +1
That is my name on their tops and no one can tell me any different!!!!
I agree. + The reason Ben is not mentioned with the best QBs in the league (Brady, Manning, Brees), is that they would have led their teams to victory the past two weeks.
Pittsburgh better look for a franchise QB in the next two drafts! Unfortunately, the next one looks pretty thin.

Yeah, I hope you are not serious.

^This. Look, I LOVED Harrison in his heyday but they have an unbelievable amount of money tied up with him for his now mediocre production & aging body. Money they could use for some better damn o-linemen.
Say what you want about Haley, but if your defense only gives up 6 points, & with an offense like ours (even with injuries were not terrible compared to other teams), we should not have lost.

Haha too much eggnog. Ben has a better resume in playoff/big games than Manning and maybe Brees. Try again.
He and the offense in general fell apart after he came back from injury and a lot of issues need to be addressed, but I guarantee that looking for a franchise QB is not even on the radar this year or next. A quality backup, yes.
I really have no idea where you're going with this comment.......it isn't Haley's but then it is???
Chan Gailey, Norv Turner, and Ken Whisenhunt are all available now. Whiz may land another HC gig but any of them would be big upgrades over Haley.
Wow, not sure you have watched much football. And I hope you are speaking of Eli Manning cause Peyton isn't all that good in the play-offs (maybe he will do well this year). Brees has never won a road play-off game in his entire career. And Ben has probably one of the 3 greatest game-winning drives in superbowl history against Arizona and is 2nd or 3rd in game winning drives in his career.
Ben uncharacteristically threw 2 late game interceptions in the last 2 weeks. He is in the prime of his career and will be fine. I believe the Steelers were 7-3 when he got hurt. He stays healthy, they easily make the playoffs.
way too much panic. its an old team that stuck together trying to win one more Super Bowl, look at all the guys they lost over the past few years, its not easy to replace Smith, Farrior, Ward, etc and have Hampton, Troy, Harrison, etc on the decline.
too many injuries and inconsistencies for the offense to gel. Art II is not the owner Art I or Dan were either. Trying to reinstate a power running game? Please go. They didnt even run outside the tackles!
All good points. Personally, I would like to see them try to get a rb in free agency or via trade. I wonder what New Orleans would want for Ingram.
If Mendenhall would have been healthy all season (not that I like him for all his crap that he says), I think it would have made a difference. Clearly, Redman and Dwyer should be 2nd or 3rd string guys at best.
The guy whose decline gets overlooked the most is Woodley. He was not explosive and hamstrings can be chronic problems, especially for someone his age. Honestly, even though he is older, I thought Harrison played better than Woodley the few times they were on the field. I'd consider cutting Woodley for the cap space and bring Harrison back on a restructured deal. Worlds finally showed some flashes this year and appears ready to start.
Hampton tore his ACL in the playoffs last year. He got better as the season progressed as he got further removed from the injury. I'd bring him back. Keisel is on the decline but the problem is that Hood and Heyward aren't great two-gap players despite having the builds of prototypical 5 tech DEs.
