He needs to go today!!! Right now!!! Horrible season... One of the worst I've witnessed in my 20 years of being a Steelers fan!
Tomlin should be on hot seat going into next year. NO discipline on this team and many questionable decisions and late game collapses.
Arizona is likely to fire Whisenhunt. I wonder if he comes back to be the Steelers OC, with Grimm replacing Kugler as o-line coach?
Then they need to fire Ben too because he's the one who blew that game.
Dominate The State
Its not like he did this two weeks in a row...
The O line is awful. That is definitely the place to start.
"I like your head, it's a good look." - James Franklin, to a bald reporter asking a question.
At least there's only one more Steelers game for you to start yet another "fire so and so" thread. Third one in 3 weeks I think? You're going Phila all over this board, except the Eagles are historically awful instead of being a fan of a ridiculously privileged franchise going through a slightly down year.
Now this is Pittsburgh sports!!!! HALEY FOR MAYOR!!!!!
PENN STATE FOREVER
Lol. Spoiled baby steeler fans. I love it
I hear those yellow rags make great toilet seat covers.
glorified bar rags
I feel like I have accidentally sided with Philly fans. This means I am most likely wrong and acting like a moron. But I loathe Big Ben... Idk what to do
"Find a bathroom, and have fun" - Big Ben
"Find a dog, and have fun" - Vick
I've had a shitty couple of days, but that cracked me up shavi.
Honestly the worst offense the Steelers have had in forever. Run, run, get sacked. That was pretty much the average Todd Haley play calling scheme. I agree that the O-line was sub-par. Decastro got beat, almost every play and Starks as well. Gonna need some big changes.
I'm an outsider, a skins fan to be honest. I think Haley was doing a great job early until you guys got hit by the injury bug. Quite frankly, Big Ben hasn't looked the same since he fractured his ribs. This offense protects Ben more, they just need stability in the backfield, and this team is back to playoffs annually again.
Don't go crazy in asking for Tomlins head, I think he's a great coach. Your one offseason away from stabilizing a perennial contender.
It would've been nice to still have Bruce Ayrians. He's gotta be smiling!
Leave him be.
After all the years he has been with the Steelers, I still dont understand Tomlin's teams.
However, lets not jump of the ledge yet. Tomlin has three 12 wins seasons, two 10 win seasons, and 2 under 10 win seasons.
A few big problems:
-Doghousing (Mendenhall should be getting the ball a lot more)
-Ben and Haley not on same page
-Aging defense. While we still are one of the top defenses statistically, we also are one of the worst at creating turnovers. Patriots defense sucks but they create tons of turnovers (they also have T Brady).
-Young Money Crew. Grow up.
-Ben looking like an actual rookie (though he went 15-1 his rookie season). Inexcusable with Cowboys last week in OT and Bengals this game. Funny thing is, I was telling my buddy that Ben is going to throw a pick and lose this game like the Cowboys. He just didnt seem right most of this season and I wonder if it is partly Haley. I know a lot of it is the terrible O-Line play (I saw a play where a guy literally picked up Ramon Foster and tossed him like a rag doll. No, I do not believe it was Devon Still).
-Not sure if Tomlin is the one that wanted to get rid of Arians (who is doing pretty well at the helm of the Colts. Rumored to be toward the top of Coach of the Year). I think that falls on the Rooneys. Bringing back Whisenhunt and Grimm would be great. Two guys that many wanted to take over after Cowher. Supposedly the rumor was that Grimm was at Seven Springs resort after Cowher left and was called by the Steelers and told him he would be the next head coach. However, they went on to interview Tomlin and Grimm fell through.
-Myron Cope is dead.
I am not on the fire Tomlin bandwagon yet. I really dislike undisciplined teams, and that largely falls on coaching. Though, some players are just undisciplined themselves...See Suh for an example, though that Lions team might be the most undisciplined team in the NFL.
I also want to add before the Seahawks/49ers game, anyone who saw Russel Wilson play at Wisconsin could see that this kid has "it." His ball is just so nice, mobile, finds the passing windows, is a true leader, and so forth. I do not think Wisconsin will ever have as good as a quarterback as Russel Wilson.
"Whoever’s trying to kill me isn’t getting the job done. But one day, I’m going to punch that f___r in the face."
I am a Steeler fan, but not typical because I am a realist. Let's recap the timeline:
1) Steelers started off slow, sure. We can all (if you are a Steelers fan) agree on that. (Losses @Oakland and @Tennessee were pretty embarrassing)
2) Started to come around a little. Came off wins @Cincy and @ NY Giants. Offense was coming around, were converting over 50% on third downs which was by far the best in the NFL.
3) Then doomsday hits. Crappy game in crappy weather against a crappy KC team, and Ben gets hurt. They hold on to win and are 6-3 and timing is unfortunate b/c the Ravens are up next.
4) This is where I believe the season turned bad for them from a roster stand point, not a staff stand point. This 4 game stretch decided the season for them. Split the 2 games with Baltimore (without Ben, most Steelers fans would accept that). But the loss to Cleveland and the 8 freakin' turnovers. Sorry fellas, but you are professionals, have some respect for yourselves, man up, and go out and play better than that. That was embarrassing. And the San Diego game. Again, you let a team in the game, then let them hang around, then you give them the game. The only part of that I would question from their staff is whether Ben should have even played in that game, b/c he looked awful and not ready to come back.
5) Well by this time the doubt has crept in. And anyone who has ever played this game whether it's pee wee, high school, college, or whatever level knows that you can't play this game scared. If there is doubt in your mind, in yourself or your confidence, it will show and you're screwed.
I blame the staff for 2 things during the crappy stretch of games in #4 above. Leftwich should have been benched in the first Ravens game when he had a broken rib and Tomlin had his head too far up his ass to take him out. And coming off the win at Baltimore, I would have let Batch play against the Chargers and let Ben heal 1 more week. But we can speculate all we want (we're fans and armchair QBs, that's what we do).
But I also know this Haley and Tomlin and LeBeau didn't fumble one of the 5 times against Cleveland, and neither of them threw up one of the 3 pathetic INTs against them either.
I am not defending Haley, but rather saying it is time for a major roster shake up on this team. Wallace-gone. Mendenhall-gone. Harrison-gone. And put guys like Woodley and Polamalu and Colon and such on notice that if they have another year of missing half the season or multiple games then the team will have to go in another direction. Don't get me wrong I love Troy but 5 games in 2009 and then 2 GREAT years and a Defensive POY and 2 pro bowls and now this year another 5 game year. Don't have to be a math major to see that is 50% efficiency being a stud for 2 years and being almost non-existant for 2 years wrapped around that.
Oh well enough of my ranting, just don't think all of the blame for this team is on the staff. And this season was not lost by today's game alone. Although I was about to have a coronary today at the amount of run 2, pass 1 drives. Especially the 1 right after the turnover to start the second half.

That is my name on their tops and no one can tell me any different!!!!
Ha! That's true. We are spoiled. :-)
Ya I mean you win 6 Super Bowls and I guess anything less is considered a failure. I agree with alot of the assessments that were made and I'll just add that it's obvious Ben hates Haley's offense and the Steelers need to decide if they can make it work with these 2 or not and if they can't they do need to dump Haley. I'm not saying this season is Haley's fault but if your franchise QB and your OC aren't getting along you gotta make a change and I'll take the QB over the OC any day. Hopefully Haley takes the Arizona job and then the Steelers can hire Whisenhunt back but we will see. Tomlin is a good coach and I don't think the Steelers should get rid of him but he needs to make some major changes to the roster. The team needs to get younger in some key spots and get rid of guys like Wallace and Mendenhall if they aren't on board. Finally, they need to start drafting better. They missed on some high picks recently and the Steelers used to almost always draft really well. IMO part of the Steelers problem is that they drafted guys to replace aging vets and those guys haven't stepped up.
You want Kevin Gilbride? He sucks too. Please take him.
sheesh... try being an eagles fan!!! All I want is to feel 1 title
Success without honor is an unseasoned dish; it will satisfy your hunger, but it won't taste good.
I disagree. He can go right after the Cleveland game. His play calling is timid and predictable especially in the other teams territory. It's obvious Ben doesn't like him or his calls.
Haley ruined Ben this season. Tomlin shows no emotion during the games.
Overall it was a pathetic season.
