Knew you reported it yesterday Fitz. More passing it along b/c the Pittsburgh folks are reporting it as Boyd rejected the visit. Hope our staff actually told him to buzz off after all his wavering...
"Penn State has taken a lot of punches in the last six months and it's time to punch back" - BOB
Yep. Like I said, the PSU hate is strong in Pittsburgh, the Mon Valley, and surrounding areas. People dont wanna believe me, but it's real.
WE ARE! And we will always be...
Being from the area as well, I have to agree. I would guess, not considering the alumni from both schools, that there is a 80-20 to 70-30 split in favor of Pitt in this area among people you would consider sports fans. I was hoping with a new coaching staff that we could make some inroads in some areas like the Mon Valley and Beaver Valley that have been difficult to recruit, but I guess that will have to wait until the sanctions are towards their end. It doesn't help that most of the local media have a heavy bias in favor of Pitt as well.
Boyd is just another media whore like AA.
Umm no. You can say the kid is making a poor choice in your opinion, but your statement is completely false.
That's not true at all.

Maybe not completely, but it's been obvious way before the Army Bowl that he was going to pitt.
Which is part of the reason why its nothing like AA... Among other reasons. The only similarity is that neither picked PSU and you are bitter against both kids...
Ahhh good point. I now fully support your analogy.
I guess if you grow up in that area you think Pitt is still relevant because it's all you know.
Maybe he is just following Clairton protocol and is scared of playing up to real competition. He wants to stay in the Single-A of college football as opposed to stepping up in class to play with and against the best
Makes me think of that cable commercial where they find the lost civilization that still uses satellite TV. "Wait, are they trying to signal us?"
Paterno burned too many bridges in Pitt i believe its beyond repair, unless of course, PSU wins a NC. Winning cures all and it would make PSU relevant again.
Pre-sanctions we signed the best player from the Pitt area.
Downvoted you the first time. No need for the redundant post.
YEah, its beyond repair....once again you are a drama queen, chicken little. BOB is doing a tremendous job repairing strained relationships with schools in the area, that's fact.
Fact eh? Which stud Pittsburgh area recruit did psu land? Answer is none and the fact is DJ had enormous pressure to decommit as his peers in the Pitt area are anti-PSU and it will get worse due to Sandusky thing.
As i said, BoB has to take PSU to the NC and build the bridges Joe burned.
Even with all the pressure you claim DJ was getting, he still was coming to PSU if we weren't hit hard by the NCAA. Can you please do us all a favor and leave the board? The statements that you post are just beyond stupid.
DJ is a Lion if the sanctions don't hit and I heard that right from the source. Will there be Pitt fans giving kids grief for going to PSU, yes, but how does that have anything to do with Paterno and coaches he pissed off?? That has happened for decades and we have still gotten plenty of top talent from the Pittsburgh Area. The coaches all speak highly of BOB, he does not have to win a title to fix bridges, he just needs to keep being himself.
