Just saw on Twitter that ND will join the ACC in all sports except football. They will also play 5 games against ACC football teams. I would love to see PSU move to the ACC and bring ND along as a full member!
Dominate The State
<5 years until their a full blown member of the ACC in football too.
"DOMINATE the state" - James Franklin 1/11/14
so was this the big news for today? lol
"People ask me why I stayed here so long, Look around, Look around, I stay here because I love you all" R.I.P. Joe - 12/21/1926-01/22/2012
I'm guessing it was.....everything is rather quiet.
That damned curse of sekrah ............everytime someone hears big news on the way, we all expect earth shattering news only to get punched in the gut.
With ND playing more games on the east coast, this could hurt PSU recruiting moving forward.
They're also not joining in ice hockey FWIW. I doubt FSU fields much of a hockey squad.
"We are able to maintain our historic independence in football, join in the ACC's non-BCS bowl package, and provide a new and extremely competitive home for our other sports."
so the statement join in the ACC's non BCS bowl package....what does that mean? if ND has a better record than the ACC football teams, does that mean they get the ACC BCS bowl tie in as the winner of the ACC?
Not nearly as much as Sandusky and his appendages did.
No more than now. ND has 4 ACC teams they are playing this year.
How is ND impacted in the new BCS 4-team format? Are they granted their special "in"?
If so, they won't go in for football.
Of course, they are part of the non-BCS bowl slate for the ACC, so i am curious how they will handle the bowl revenue sharing. ND should not get a share of the ACC BCS money if they keep their exception.
And their "we'll give you millions even if you don't play a BCS bowl". Curious how all that works out.
The ACC has just stepped in for the Big East. Nothing new. But the Big Ten should see this as yet another slap in the face. Stop enabling their elitist scheduling mentality. Stop scheduling them every year. UMich, Mich St, Purdue can sell out for some other BCS level opponent. People want to see them join a conference, but keep giving them reasons why not to.
Just stop enabling them.
I've been saying that for years. The surest way to get ND into a conference is stop playing them. They will be begging the Big Ten to join.
